I'm really not the type to complain about food, my friends even joke that I think everything tastes good. But unfortunately, Kitchenina's food was one of the biggest disappointments of our wedding day. We were recommended Kitchenina by a friend and, trusting their suggestion, we decided to skip the tasting (which we now realize was a mistake). The menu sounded wonderful, steak and salmon, but the food quality was extremely poor. The steak was so tough that my husband literally couldn't chew or swallow it, and this wasn't just one bad piece every bite was the same. Practically almost all of our guests told us the same. The salmon, on the other hand, was the opposite: it had no structure at all and fell apart into a mushy, mashed texture. The cocktail hour appetizers were decent but unimpressive they tasted like basic store-bought meatballs rather than something prepared fresh for a wedding. If we had to summarize our experience with having Kitchenina cater our wedding, it would be amazing food, amazing service! We got married at OVY Camp in San Gregorio, CA in May 2023 with a headcount of 165 guests, including 10 children. Kitchenina had catered dozens of weddings there and was highly recommended by the venue, so after we looked at their menu online and found dishes we liked, we contacted them to learn more and check if they were available on our wedding date. Kostas provided a very professional tasting experience at Kitchenina's kitchen in Redwood City. We loved the dishes we tasted, including the chile verde mac and cheese, teriyaki chicken, and coconut curry tofu. We left the tasting with all of our questions about the menu, rentals, and logistics answered. We requested menus and quotes from a few of our venue's other recommended caterers, but Kitchenina's fresh menu appealed to us most and was the most affordable per head. Aliki and Kostas explained that they buy ingredients in bulk because they cater a high volume of meals for large tech companies in the Bay Area and pass on the savings from buying in bulk to their customers. In the month before the wedding, Aliki scheduled a meeting with us and our day-of coordinator to go over all the details, including headcount, logistics, and rentals. Aliki helped us add rentals and had us specify the color of the napkins and tablecloths. She also went over all of our questions about dietary restrictions of guests. Many dishes are gluten free, dairy free, or onion and garlic free without compromising on flavor! Day of, the set up and service went very smoothly, thanks to the professionalism of the bartenders, servers, and chef. The servers kept the buffet line flowing, while the bartenders moved guests quickly through the line for drinks. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, creating a positive atmosphere for our guests. The team put together a beautiful dessert table that guests loved. Partway through dancing, the servers put out our late night snack of spanakopita and flatbread. At the end of the night the staff worked with our coordinator to pack up all of our decor and the leftover food. They left the space incredibly clean and tidy, which was especially helpful because we had guests staying on site and using the space for activities the next day. We would absolutely recommend Kitchenina to any couple planning a wedding in the Bay Area. Throughout the whole process, Aliki and Kostas were professional, warm and friendly, quick to respond, accommodating of our needs, and knowledgeable about everything we would need to make our event a success. Kitchenina catered our wedding earlier this month, and they knocked it out of the park! The food was delicious, and the service was spectacular. We got compliments all night on how delicious the food was. It was also easy to put together a selection (we served dinner buffet style) that had plenty of vegetarian/vegan and gluten-free options. We saw several guests go back for seconds, including one of our vegan guests. Even before the event, Kostas and Aliki were incredibly helpful. In my experience, wedding food is one of the most forgettable aspects of the event. Not this wedding food!!! Our experience with Aliki, Kostas, and the whole Kitchenina team was anything but forgettable. When guests go out of their way to tell you how much they loved the food you know they mean it. The kind woman managing the floor and general flow of service was Camille, and she was absolutely brilliant. She was so kind and accommodating, even when we made a mistake on the seating chart she handled that situation with grace and efficiency. Kitchenina is so fortunate to have Camille on their team. Every item on the menu was superb. The biggest hits were the definitely the Verde Mac and Cheese and the Chicken Satay, but everything was just wonderful including the Tri Tip and California salad. Guests are encouraged to come up for seconds or more. At the end of the night everything they cooked for you is packaged up to take home. Sadly, the Verde Mac and Cheese was so good there were no leftovers but we see that as a a wonderful sign! As the bride and groom we had a great view of people going to receive seconds and there wasn't a plate returning to it's seat without that mac and cheese, with the exception of our Vegan guests of course. Kitchenina was so accommodating to our three Vegan guests. They were able to make Coconut Tofu Curry and all who had it absolutely raved about it. I wish Kitchenina had a restaurant so we can eat from them again. The Kitchenina team is so professional and helpful as they help you plan your special day. Alright y'all, this is a long appreciation post for Head Chef Kostas and Aliki, as well as all of Kitchenina. First and Foremost, our wedding day would not have been complete without Kitchenina's amazing and scrumptialicious (idk if this is a word lol) food. From the appetizers to the main course, the food was beyond stupendous and out of this world. I am not even overexaggerating. When Jubilee and I first met Kostas at our first tasting, we fell in love with his cooking. Aliki - if I could duplicate your husband I would do it in a heartbeat because Kostas can cook!!! You know love and passion are real when it comes out of their food. When we were at the tasting, the food was literally bursting with flavors and LOVE. Did I mention "love"? I'm gonna say this a whole lot in the review. Any who - I stayed in communication with Aliki and also voiced my opinions on what we would like but also asked what would go good with what. I'm not much of a foodie and know much about pairing, but I am forever grateful for Aliki and Kostas for having patience with us and also pouring out their knowledge of food and what goes best with what. Kitchenina was the first food vendor we saw out of the three that we were supposed to try out and we both said YES TO KITCHENINA! Aliki & Kostas accommodated our schedule and invited us to their home for a tasting. Aliki & Kostas were extremely hospitable and kind. The tasting portions was very generous. The tasting felt more like a meal with friends than it did a formal tasting. We were super impressed with how delicious and tasty the food was. Both recommended alternative options and informed us how they could change the ingredients for our guests' dietary restrictions. With their experience and flexibility, they offered to make us a plate to eat in the kitchen with them since on the day of can get busy for the bride and groom to sit down and enjoy the meal. Something we never seen or would of thought of BUT was the BEST suggestion and lifesaver during our wedding day. We didn't die of starvation and we got to try each item we selected for our reception dinner. Kitchenina was helpful and flexible. We did add and take items away from our orders up until the week before the wedding but Aliki made it happen. This made it less stressful knowing that they were flexible with changes. There was some hiccups, as with anything but Kitchenina came through and corrected the hiccups. On the day of our wedding during our photoshoot, Alikie ran out to our photoshoot area with a plate of hors d'oeuvres to make sure we got some food in us. Super thoughtful and sweet. After our photoshoot, we met Aliki & Kostas in the kitchen who made and kept a plate of food warm for us and our photographer. Aliki, Kostas & their staff made sure we had something to drink and if everything was okay. We even had time to take a selfie with them. Later, we found out that Aliki & Kostas whipped up a plate for one of our guest who had a dietary restriction we weren't aware of. We were impressed and grateful that they were able to improvise a last-minute plate. Amazing value, kind and flexible staff, and delicious food! We booked our wedding with Aliki and her team in 2020 and had to move our wedding due to COVID. Aliki worked with us to move to a new date and we didn't lose any money in this transfer. She was also very accommodating and patient as we changed our mind back and forth between different buffet and plated and adding and removing extras. We did our tasting at their kitchen in a church/school room and it felt very welcoming and custom. We're happy to support their small business but also knew we were getting an experienced team who knew what they were doing with wedding catering. Everything turned out great! They were communicative, efficient, and alleviated so much stress before and during the day, and most importantly, the food was amazing!!! We started working with Aliki and Kostas almost a year before our wedding. We didn't love any of the vendors on our venue's preferred list so we went looking for better and found Kitchenina. Our first experience with them was a tasting that was basically a 5 course meal. We got to try multiple appetizers, side dishes, entrees, and a salad. Needless to say, it was delicious. I keep asking Kostas if he will bottle the sauce he used for the salmon so I can buy it. On the day of our wedding their team was amazing. They transformed an empty museum exhibit hall into our reception dinner in less than 2 hours, setting up 19 tables, 2 buffets, 2 bars, and a sweetheart table. All 190 guests had been served and finished eating in less than an hour. We never had to worry about a single thing on the day, if anything came up, we never noticed and they didn't tell us haha. The food was so good we were excited to eat the leftovers for the next week! We also were purchasing our own alcohol for the reception and Aliki let us ask her bar manager tons of questions so we could make sure we had enough variety and quantity in our alcohol and mixers. We had backyard wedding on October 1st and Aliki and Kostas were absolutely amazing. I cannot recommend Kitchenina highly enough! The food was amazing, the staff was so friendly and on top of everything and most importantly Aliki and Kostas are fantastic people. It is so nice to work with a true family business and with people who care as much for their customers as they do. Aliki was so helpful in the lead up to the wedding and was willing to work with us on everything. When we were stressed in the last minutes she calmed us down and assured us that everything would work out and she would be there to solve any problems on the fly, should they occur. We were very happy with our catering from Kitchenina for our 130 person wedding! The tasting was excellent and Aliki was very responsive for the months leading up to the wedding. I had a strict budget, and Aliki was very patient with forming the menu with me. I had multiple questions and changes that I requested for the food, silverware and utensils and all sorts of things randomly throughout the past 6 months, and she always responded very kindly and thoroughly to my requests for quotes. I truly appreciated that she always kept my budget and special requests in mind. On the wedding day, our servers Steve and Alessandra helped with our buffet style meal and were very professional and courteous. I had only expected them to stay to cut the cake, but they stayed longer to help clean up our tables, which was not something I had expected them to do. We had no other staff and was just going to have to clean up everything ourselves, so I felt very grateful to have them help us. After the wedding, all our guests had very positive things to say about the food. They loved the tri tip and the garlic butter chicken. The pear and Gorgonzola salad was amazing, and most people went for second rounds. Even though many people had two plates of food, we still had extra to take home. I highly recommend Kitchenina, as both their food and service are outstanding. My experience with them was definitely one of the highlights for me both during the wedding planning process and the wedding itself. I was so anxious before the wedding, but when I went tasting at their house, I feel so secure and relief when i met them, because they are just the nice and wonderful people, the food is delicious and plus "organic" and "fresh". and they are trying to help us with the wedding , even the decoration. on our big day, they are very efficient and nice, they try to help with everything, they even brought their own decoration stuff for my wedding cake table to help me out. they are not only the vendor, i will say they are more like partners to me with the wedding! fantastic catering crew!!!!! read more

We were beyond thrilled that we hired Kitchenina to cater our wedding. The staff were fantastic, Aliki and Kostas were great to work with and made our wedding better than we could have ever imagined. So many great things to say! Aliki read me through the menu and adjusted to any food allergies or restrictions of my film crew. It was a two day commercial where lunch was intended to be at the same location for both days. The location changed for the second day and Aliki was there ready to adapt once again! She even provided warming bags for us as we did not have the option of using any open flames at our location. Customer Service was above and beyond. The food was on time, and delicious. We hired Kitchenina for our wedding and Aliki and team were wonderful to work with! Aliki responded super quickly to my request and during the phone call I was sure they will be a great fit. Very kind team, great to work with, very punctual, responsive, detail oriented and very reasonably priced! When the food got dropped off (perfectly on time) we weren't really ready to eat because we were running behind schedule. The employee who delivered the food put me on the phone with the head chef to make sure we keep each food tray warm at the perfect temperature. That's what I call customer service! Besides that, the food was absolutely delicious! There was something for every taste and diet and all our guests were complimenting us on the food and asked who the caterer is.
