My dream kitchen would be stocked full of cookware from here, till then, there are the really salad bowls!

A family run business selling everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, pots, pans, scales, coffer machines, spatula's, clocks, teapots, and things to organise the kitchen just so. Some cool bar stuff in there though, bottle openers, cocktail gear and some nice glasses to sup that cold lager or wine on.... Anyway, I'm off for some counselling now - if you need kitchen stuff - go have a browse but try and not get excited.

That said, I enjoy their selection of serving ware from bowls and platters to demi spoons and cake plates. If you can't find the correct number of something, just ask. They seemingly have a lot of extra inventory in the back. It can seem like an odd collection; but if they have what I need, it makes me so very happy.

If any of you Yelpers see me furtively sneaking in, you're within your rights, no in fact it's your duty to escort me out. Or at least confiscate my credit card! Lakeland describe themselves as the home of creative kitchenware and when I walk in here, there are so many things I didn't even know I wanted until I see them! Fortunately, my Chinese thrift genes kick in and over-ride immediate impulse buying. Otherwise I would be broke and I would need a much larger kitchen to store all my new gadgets Safe to say, I could spend hours browsing, imagining, thinking up recipes as I walk round. To be fair, you can find a lot of stuff here that's not available elsewhere and while you do pay a slight premium, I've found their equipment well-made and durable. I've made myself a pact. Walk round and decide what I would like to buy. Go away and have lunch first. Return and if I still really want it, I get it. Some favourite purchases over the years have included my cook's blowtorch, silicon baking sheets and coolskin gauntlet oven gloves. Now, can I really justify buying a pressurised foamer.....?

Staff are extremely helpful when you can't instantly locate the item you are seeking. All the renowned bestsellers are available here; many kitchen supplies can be bought in trial packs so you can confirm their virtues before investing in the full-sized version. My (secret) tip - recommended by a Good Housekeeping insider - is a bottle of their Sticky Stuff Remover does exactly what it says on the outside and rescues you from the eternal battle to remove stubbornly irksome labels and price tags.

They are simply at hand if you need them. I was really pissed off to find that they had a pan steamer which was the exact product I bought just days ago in Islington for only 4.50. In fact the bigger one was still cheaper at 5.50 than the 5.99 I paid for the small one in Islington. What a bummer. They have a huge selection of chopping boards as well ranging from small to extra large and everything in between. Also they have a full range of pots and pans, kitchen knives and crockery. This store is great and the prices are obviously very competitive as I found out the hard way.

I think that a shop like this managing to survive is testament to its success. Ealing Broadway shopping centre is just around the corner with quite a bit of competition from the big boys who also market home wear. While even though even a shop as beautiful and as tempting as this can not make a house-wife out of me yet, it's a great little find for those budding chefs out there. Shop local! They have everything you might need for your own scullery (ok, kitchen) including cooking and baking utensils, fancy crockery, chintzy little tins, cutesy aprons, patterned teacups and saucers, mugs with amusing captions. You get the jist. It's a little overpriced but if you're a Muswell Hill daaaaaahhhhliiiing then you can probably afford it. And it's a nice place to pick up a gift for that aspiring chef or baker in your life. I also have to give them an extra star for the fact that they managed to provide me with a white box the absolute perfect size for the giant cupcake I made for my friend's bubba's 1st birthday (and complimented me on my baking skills - flattery gets you everywhere).
