This was an awesome little place. Don't blink or you'll miss it, and don't look for any signage. It looks like a nondescript little Chinese food place. Don't judge a book by its cover, though. If you're paleo or paleo-curious and struggling in Paris (which you will, mightily) check Bob's out. Though not strictly paleo -and not attempting to be- it offers some great veggie options. I'm pretty sure it's vegetarian, so you'll have to find your protein elsewhere, but that's you'll have no trouble with that here. Awesome young, neighborhood atmosphere. So far this has been our favorite breakfast joint in our little nook within the heart of Paris. It is quite hidden off a side street, and there isn't a big obvious sign that screams the restaurants name, but once you find it you'll be glad you did. Much to my chagrin, my French is awful, but I didn't need to embarrass myself when speaking to Andrew. He's from England! He was extremely friendly and made our stay enjoyable. The food was incredible too-very healthy and super fresh. The pimped toast is a must, and the green juice as well. We have another few days in Paris and we plan to make a few more visits to Bob's Kitchen for sure. read more

After a long morning of shopping I went here, small place, communal tables. I saw everyone eating pretty much the same thing so I asked what it was- veggie stew, so I got that! Let me tell you it was less stew-y than I thought which is perfect because I don't care for stew. It was delicious!!!!! Full of vegetables a small portion of brown rice, avocado and some sort of coconut curry sauce. I hope to go there again before I leave because it was just too good. I had the gluten free vegan full stack of pancakes with bananas and raspberry compote on top which cost 9€ I'm sad to say these were the worst pancakes I've tried in my life, I'm sorry. I can't describe the taste they were very bitter my eyes cried. They tasted as if they put too much cider vinegar or baking soda.... The service was excellent, staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the restaurant's atmosphere it was as if I were a guest in their home. A nice oasis of a place for a relaxing bite after visiting the POMPIDOU CENTER. Finally found a place that didn't cook it's vegetables into oblivion. Not a vegan per se but I do like to taste the characteristics of fresh produce. Which, to my delight I was able to cook for myself and realize there's probably just a different gastronomic philosophy between French dining and my own desires. That or...I just hadn't found a good restaurant far enough away from the tourist areas....which...seems nigh impossible unless your local. Would recommend. Good vegan apple pie, too! read more

As evidenced by the name, Bob's is a homey, vegan-friendly place to grab a healthy bite to eat. A few notes: - On weekends, they have free bread + tea. It's also super busy, so be prepared to share your table with another party! - The acai bowl is small and sweet but a good deal for 5 euros. - The matcha cookie is moist and yummy. Get it! - Order the veggie stew if you want to feel super healthy. It's literally just scoops of cooked/prepared vegetables, topped with some sauce of your choice. Bob, you're obviously onto something good here. I mean, really good. So good that I had to come by twice over a quick two day work trip to Paris. The fresh juices, the coffee, the bagels, the granola yogurt pot, the soup and the salads were all stunning... but the fruity futomaki really is something special. Funnily, we had one of our best (and most inexpensive) meals in Paris here - in a town where meat rules. We came right at the end of the lunch shift (nearly 3pm) and had a delicious Asian-inflected quinoa & lightly steamed veg salad, and a hearty stew. After several days of quiche, cheese and general heavy-ness, we could practically feel the nutrients flowing through our veins like clear water. Plus two vegan mini-cupcakes which actually tasted good. Free wi-fi too. Discovered via Le Fooding, an app (and guide and movement) for finding good restaurants in France recommended to us by a Paris resident. Highly recommended - if we'd been pointed to it earlier it would have saved us a lot of not-great / overpriced meals! read more

Without the guidance of one Miss Elodie, this little American would not have found her way to Bob's, a cozy, delicious, vegetarian-focused food haven intent on welcoming hungry folks with open arms and feeding them delicious, wholesome, carefully prepared food at respectably reasonable prices. After trooping around a bit in the rain (yes, rain in Paris, who knew?), I met up with a friend and more friends at Bob's for casual lunch. My recommendations came in the form of a futomaki, which I gobbled down and found utterly satisfying, despite what I thought to be a small portion size. Add to this a cup of tea and a refreshing smoothie, and I've filled my belly responsibly, for very little euros and managed to have a lovely conversation with my luncheon companions. Though future visits to Paris may be few and far between, Bob's I will make a priority in my travels, simply because I felt so naturally welcomed and so fully nourished. read more

I was SOOO excited to come here because its all the rage on instagram and food aside, this place is HORRID. It was SO noisy that I was literally yelling at the person sitting across from me. I actually could not even enjoy my meal because all I was thinking about is how badly I wanted to finish and then leave. There is no service here. We waited forever and finally just decided to go up and order at the cash counter ourselves. so now the food. Tried the futomaki. Plain, not too exciting, but it was good. Worth 4 euros? nope. Of course I tried the famous veggie stew and there was 3 options for sauce. I took green curry and to my HUGE disappointment this was basically entirely made of coriander, which I HATE. Luckily I traded with my bf who ordered satay and this was soooooo amazinggg. It was super peanuty and I could've had so much more sauce on top. I mixed everything together and it was just fantastic. portions are super small though (as expected). Great little vegetarian place tucked away in the 3rd. I had their quinoa with green beans which was cheap (6 euros) and really, really filling. Also healthy! My friend got the veggie stew which was also huge and full of different vegetables and priced around 7 euros. We saw that our neighbors had gotten the pancakes, and thought we'd split one. Since we got to Bob's near closing at 3, they were no longer making pancakes, but our dining companions (complete strangers, by the way) offered to give us one of their pancakes. And it was terrific! They have real maple syrup out on the table that you can douse them with, but the pancakes (we had the fruits rouges version) were tasty even on their own with a little butter. The staff was very, very friendly and the interior was bright and simple, probably enough seating for under 20 people, and the tables are long and you are meant to sit next to strangers which lent a nice communal atmosphere to the place. There were quite a few anglophones dining there, and the staff speak English. Overall the atmosphere is really laid back (there were kids and dogs inside!) and welcoming. It's on the verge of being too hipster, but I could still handle it. The pancakes were okay and the portions were big enough. My boyfriend ordered a bagel of which I took a bite. Thanks to Yelp, I found this gem. Healthy and warm spot, perfect for breakfast/lunch. Came here two days in a row. Ordered the stew which came with an assortment of veggies/greens. The half portion of pancakes is suffice..comes with 2 pancakes and toppings of fresh banana. The maki is a bit overpriced for what it is and how much you get. Fresh table bread on the table and a soothing house made ginger/cinnamon tea you can help yourself with. Lovely staff. Tiny indoors, so come early if you don't want to wait for a seat. read more

I'm usually a healthy eater. I love roasted vegetables, any sort of weird grain (teff, anyone?), and a hot lemon water in the morning. But because I've been traveling for several weeks, I haven't been able to have any of these things. It's been a lot of bread, butter, heavy meat, with very few veggies. Bob's Kitchen was a breath of fresh air and definitely made me happy! Even my meat-addicted boyfriend enjoyed his meal here. Everything here is tasty, satisfying, and leaves you with a healthy glow. You can't go wrong with the veggie stew. Also, the futomaki and salad were both very good. The one downside was how crowded Bob's Kitchen was, but maybe we just came at a super busy time. If you're able to squeeze into a table the waitress will take your order. We were a bit confused by this because we thought you order at the counter. If you do order at the counter, it's no big deal, but you can also just sit down and they're serve you from there. Five stars is for surprising me in a good way. A really tight space. Communal tables that have four stools to a side. However, most customers try to hide that fourth stool, so you can sit six per table. Even if it looks like counter service, sit first, then a waitress will take your order. I was told by the cashier that 80% of their customers are not vegetarian. And I believe her--it is that delicious. Instead of using fat to add mouthfeel, they use a clean sour component (Asian vinegars?) to achieve a satisfying balance. Salad excellent--bulked up with bulgar wheat or some sort of grain. Great texture and dressing. Maki roll--usually skeptical as I hate soggy nori--but it absolutely was delicious. Veggie stew--very satisfying. And I love meat. The customers are a bit odd and morose--as should be expected when we're all sitting elbow to elbow. But don't let that scare you away. It is a great meal that will open your eyes to new ways to bring satisfying flavors and textures to your own cooking. read more

Stressed out waitstaff trying to feed the masses of vegans in a hole in the wall. Squeeze into one of the four tables and wait a long time for a server to take your order. If you get there by 1 o'clock half the menu will no longer be available. Choose from one of the three veggie stews with sauces of green curry, lentils or peanut sauce. Smoothies are good but special orders (i.e., no banana) are not appreciated. Expect to wait 10 minutes and the line in order to pay as servers are too busy and staff is making as many (or more!) take out and delivery orders as orders for sit down patrons. The food is hearty, flavorful and delicious which is why the place is so crowded. Many of the bagel sandwiches had cheese and are not vegan friendly. read more

I am an American living in Paris who has spent a decent amount of time in NYC. When I stepped into Bob's Kitchen, I instantly thought of all the great cafes and restaurants in Brooklyn who serve up amazing brunch on wooden communal tables and have a simple and limited but absolutely delicious menu. Bob's Kitchen did not disappoint. I will definitely be coming back here when I am in need of creative dished and a hip atmosphere. The veggie stew was absolutely perfect. I got mine with the peanut sauce, and my friend got the green curry. We tried both and each preferred out own plate. The complimentary tea was also very good. It was not too crowded when we arrives around 1 pm, but by 1;30 it was packed! by 2;30 it has emptied out again. As other people have mentioned, try to get here early. read more
