Super cute new cafe in Hahndorf. Love the wood paneled walls, and the intimate catch up w a friend vibe. Smooth jazzy tunes play in the background. A nice eye for detail and what looks to be a worthy menu. I grabbed a soy cap and a 2C Zing, pineapple mint juice in a jar type affair. Along with the collection of freely available newspapers and a citymag to read I think this is now my new destination weekend spot in Hahndorf.

Cute little place!! My partner and I & his parents had breakfast here today while we are visiting the town overnight... They have great short selections. The parents had raisin toasts which looks sooooo fruity & yummy... And of course they finished it... My partner & I had the smoke salmon with Chive potato rostie w/ beetroot relish & cream cheese & spinach orange zest salad... That was soooooooo gooooodddd... The girls are so cute and friendly... The place are decorated cozy... And the background music was a nice smooth jazz... :) just nice xx

The chilled out atmosphere was great..

I love all of their food. It's a must when in Hahndorf. Great Indian and Thai inspired meals along with traditional Aussie meals.

When I went here I had a simple poached eggs with avo on rye toast. Unfortunately the eggs were a little too firmly cooked for my liking, but the dish was still fresh and filling. The coffee was also delicious. This place is very cosy with its pot belly stove roaring on a cool winter's day and a lovely friendly environment to dine for brekky or lunch.

I think that a lot of people drive past on their way to wineries, but they should really stop for a coffee. It is just the cutest cottage. A few different rooms and you will find the café part in the middle room. What I really love about this place is all the little hidden room dining areas. There are range of take away options for lunch or dinner for the family. Some super tasty looking stews, pasta and salads. Wow! All decently priced and a great healthy alternative then going out for takeaway. I look forward to return to eat some lunch. On this visit my guest and I tried the Lemon Polenta and the Pecan cake. Both were very moist, full of flavour, and not too sweet. Which is perfect by my books. The coffee is a strong and robust. Lovely blend and great barista. You couldn't have asked for anything better on a cold rainy day! I think I might become a regular as a resident of the Hills! I am looking forward to warming up near their open fireplace.

As is often the case, I'm glad I was wrong. Little did I know a quirky little cafe is the perfect replacement for a redundant service station! So far I've only had coffee, but based on the experience of our group the overall customer experience is great! Our coffees (and one iced chocolate) came out really promptly and were top notch (and very affordable somehow). We opted to sit out the back, a great choice for a bright, warm hills Autumn morning. It feels like being out the back of my Nanna's house (retro table and all) only no one is yelling at me through the back window about the football scores.. which is good I guess, for a cafe anyway.

And the day is bright and warm and it's all perfect. As we stroll, we are invited be to have lunch at Blacksmith Hahndorf and we decide to give it a go. Well, the setting was authentic - a fantastic mix of traditional blacksmith tools and equipment as decor while comfortable and homely. We were catered to with nuanced detail and the young man that ushered us to our table also promptly brought us table water with chilled glasses. We went for a beer and gourmet German Sausage with German beer and it was fantastic! They brought us stubbies again with chilled glasses (this has only really happened in Europe) and the meal was composed perfectly! Now consider this, we basically had a German hotdog and a beer but the experience was awesome, and the meal was both filling and bursting with flavours. For two people's lunch and for less than $40 we had a great meal and an experience to brag about. We're sure you'll have the same experience! If you were passing through town and felt like a coffee and a home made cake (get the passionfruit vanilla slice if available) then the sunny paved brick courtyard out back or patio out front under umbrellas is a beautiful setting. Inside is filled with large wooden clocks, plates, candles, silver ornaments, cushions and the usual candidates that occupy a country gift shop. The lunch menu is fairly limited and for $35 for a pie and salad and a tomato bruschetta I felt it was a tad expensive. Tomato bruschetta literally was 2 pieces of bread with a pile of tomato and some shavings of basil and the curry pie, although lovely, came with a very simple lettuce and tomato salad. Coffee and tea was lovely though and I'd love to see more afternoon teas here to really twee up the Avalon Downton Abbey experience. With a little tweaking of the formula and simplifying the lunch menu to high teas, with more of their home made cakes, scones and desserts this place can really ham up the out of town experience for us city folk in an enjoyable way.

I also had two latte's which were also above expectation their star barista must have been on shift that day. I didn't even realise that this cafe was part of an accommodation service, there certainly don't advertise that part of the business in the cafe, so I can't really comment on the cleanliness of the bedsheets,; but if I ever get hold of an ultra violet light I'll keep you guys informed. There is an outside seating area available as well and the great thing is that there is a window set up where you can get bar service from outside too, this is great for the lazy in you.

That said, it means there is a fair bit of choice for the consumer and competition keeps prices affordable and experiences memorable. Having visited several other venues offering high tea around town my girlfriends (and 1 brave boyfriend) were overjoyed to discover there is now a venue in Hahndorf whose primary aim is to provide a specialised high tea service. Antiquteas is on the main street of the historic german town. It is a space inexpensively furnished a little too sparsely with the chintzy, scrolled and frilly garb you would expect from a high tea joint. The service was a little strained but our waitress tried hard enough to be affable... I get the impression this was a little difficult for her. My friend who organised the event said she had been incredibly helpful in the planning stages and they had even arranged to cater for our vegetarian friend who is on a crazy gluten free kick recently, WOW! In my mind thatt is above and beyond. I would have laughed at anyone who suggested I provide a gluten free high tea for them... what is it other than white bread sandwiches with no crusts, scones and pastries??! Anyway - so they have to be recognised for catering for my crazy friend. The sitting started at 11am and a welcoming glass of bubbly had me quite merry on my empty stomach. Each person was catered for with three small fingers of sandwich... one cucumber (traditional!), one curried egg and one smoked salmon and tomato and a tiny fairy sized egg and bacon quiche. There was then a warm scone with jam and cream and a selection of four petit fours, a lemon meringue cheesecake square, tiny banoffee pie, a choc dipped strawberry and a little choc mousse cup. I think they've probably got the quantity of food bang on, although savoury lovers like me may find this is one more appropriate for the sweet tooths of this world. There were just two teas available, Earl Grey and English Breakfast... both were a little underwhelming taste-wise. It was all wrapped up by 12:30 and we were the last group left sitting in the venue. While die hards may want to give this a go I won't bother going back.

I am often given a porcelain-ware coffee/tea cup, and the staff serve you with old/strong tea or coffee. Antiquteas is a breath of fresh air, it is delightfully decorated with tasteful furniture and, to my great relief, fine bone china tea cup and saucer set with matching side plate (Royal Albert to be precise). We had our own silver tea service with loose leaf tea. Later hot water was added to freshen our tea to extend our wonderful experience. The savoury and sweets selection was delicious. After speaking with the owner, the selections change daily depending on what she prepares, so I will definitely return. Thank you for getting it Right!
