If you are looking for that great story to tell your friends of how a couple followed their dream to open a restaurant. This is that story. Both owners, Simona and Tim are big fans of cooking and that shows in the energy and dishes you get served. Added they serve the best hummus of Brussels, is a bonus. Perfect place to have a nice dinner with friends over a good bottle of wine. You can choose your own custom pitcher btw. Again a nice touch. The place is not big (20-30 people), but that helps create a cosy atmosphere. They have a wide range of tapas and Mediterranean dishes that will please everyone. Try to do a talk with the owners, they will be more than happy to explain the story behind the restaurant (they have a gallery a bit down the road) and their love for cooking. When we were invited for the Yelp event, we felt like we were invited in to their home, they cooked us a wonderful dinner. You can't leave but with a smile on your face. I always look forward to coming here: the food is a happy mix of Mediterranean flavours with just enough vegetarian dishes to ensure I have a choice and enough meat and fish not to scare away the meat eaters. It's a must in Brussels - but sorry still had to give it 3 stars... On a Friday night this place was surprisingly empty when we arrived. More people arrived after a while but it never got packed or noisy. Service is great, relaxed and casual. The design of the place is cool, Bobo but for me it's very small and it becomes almost impossible not to hear what the other tables were talking about - and I could tell sometimes me and my friends got a bit too loud, ruining the calm and intimate atmosphere there was for the other customers. The food is great ( especially the tapas) but I was a bit disappointed by the meat Kafka that was a bit raw and the zucchini pancakes that were tasteless. I will definitely go there again but just for tapas and the amazing warm bread. Also the price is really good for the quantity and quality of the food you get! I actually think it's perfect for lunch!! It's a great place but it's not suited for groups (4 people is already too much) but rather for friends or a very calm dinner with your best friend. And finally, the fried smell was encompassing and got on my clothes....I almost wanted to open the door and let air circulate! a bit of air or some open windows would not hurt :) read more

September 2015 update: After a very appreciated discussion with the owner (don't you just love people who care?), I went again. The service was definitely a lot better. The sauce that went with the chicken brochettes we had was a bit off, so still not a 100% convinced by the food... But anyway: it's a cute place that has friendly staff serving original food :) ------------------------------------- I had great expectations. They were not met. Uh it makes me sad to write a bad review but after tonight's dinner...well there is not much else for it. We forgot to reserve a table and called La Buvette, Cafe Des Spores and Sesame in Auderghem, all of which were full... then I remembered Kitchen 151. I have passed Kitchen 151 many times and it is always busy so I thought it was a safe choice and since they could take our last minute booking we went there. To give a better balance of the pros and cons of the restaurant I will review it in categories: Cleanliness : The restaurant was clean with a nice decor, I never used the toilet but at a first glance I was happy with the cleanliness. Menu Choices: They have a a nice selection of starters, for the main courses there is 1 fish, 1 chicken, 1 vegetarian, 1 lamb dish, and I think they may change from day to day. I would have liked to see a slightly larger choice. Service : The girl who served us was nice and gave us plenty of information on the menu. l Quality of dishes: Starter It was ok, we had the soft cheese with smoked paprika. The portion size was fine for a starter however it was around ,€13 which is far too much for a small plate of soft cheese and bread. Mains I had the Chicken Chimichuri with vegetables (I have celiac and cant have couscous). The chimichuri is basically a piece of overcooked grilled meat with some powdered turmeric on top and some fresh squeezed lemon, covered in parsley. The two flavours of lemon and tumeric are bold and need some softening to marry them together. Some salt, a little sugar and butter would have turned it into a cohesive sauce, cooked with fresh turmeric would have been much better, I only ate half, enough to fill my stomach. The veg was well presented, topped with pomegranate and almond shavings.. but the carrot, pumpkin, potato were totally over cooked and tasteless. My partner had the Shaksuka, which he as eaten many times.. the eggs where hard boiled and not soft inside and the sauce was ingredients put together and served, its not a sauce that has been cooked for any amount of time to create a unified sauce,, just ingredients heated in a pan and put in a bowl together. Dessert My boyfriend ordered the Knaafe Maafe ( I can't remember exactly what they are calling it) with ice cream, its a dessert made of thin strands of pastry that forms a birds nest type shape which should be floating in syrup. The one Kitchen 151 served was completely dry.. unfortunately he could not eat it. Both of us had the chocolate and honeycomb ice cream, which had a nice flavour but the consistency felt as though it had been defrosted and then refrozen.. disappointing. Ambience : The restaurant is small but has a nice ambience. The tables are really close together so your sort of sitting with your neighbours. Wine Choice: They have a decent selection of wines by the glass, all around €6.50 per glass which i think is ok for Brussels. Quality Vs Price We paid €80 for this meal and were really disappointed. We could have had similar food which was cooked to a better standard at Al Jhana in Merolles for a 1/4 of the price. I am really not sure why this place has so many high stars, I can only think that people do not know good food.. this is a restaurant for people who can't cook and do not know middle eastern food. read more

Came here for a party, so the menu was preset. The place is small but the interior is fun and trendy. I definitely recommend you make reservations if you expect a large party because of the limited space. The owner (Simona) was great, really friendly and funny, and obviously loves what she does, which is always great to see. The waiter was generally nice, but he did snap once when we made a request for someone who hadn't received her dessert yet when the rest had, saying it was on its way. The food was really tasty and sort of a Mediterranean fusion style (just make sure to not bite into the peppers if you don't like spicy foods, or request not to have them included in your dishes). I'm not sure I liked having the wine come in carafes and not have the bottles opened before me (I can be a little paranoid for some things), but I'm not sure if that's how they usually serve the wine or if they do that only when serving big groups... As other writers said, their hummus is really good (just don't burn your fingers on the bread that comes with it) and I definitely recommend it! read more

Tapas with a twist! We shared 4 plates of the summer menu between 3 people, which was more than enough. The menu is not very long but changes regularily. Everything we ordered was delicious and each plate looked like a little piece of art. The Portugese white house wine was also very good. We tried Kitchen 151 for brunch on a Saturday (open from 12.00) and loved it! 25eur/person - including a glass of cava, juice, coffee and plenty of delicious meals prepared by the lovely host and adjusted to each person (spiciness level etc etc). Quality of food was great, and the quantity is very generous (we were offered to take away the leftovers). Definitely going back again! read more

I love this place! I have waited far too long to try it. I am happy I did and it didn't turn out to be anything less than the highly praised place I expected it to be. The food has a homemade quality. So tasteful and special. The cuisine is from the Mediterranean region. It reminds me of my mom's cooking from Bulgaria that is predominantly salad based with bread & toppings, and good meat balls. Definitely try the baba ganoush & hummus dishes. Me and my friend shared 4 dishes and 1/2 liter of red wine and paid around 70 euros in total. Bonus: we got an invitation for an exhibition opening in September as the owner of the restaurant owns the gallery next door. The service was excellent and I plan to go back soon. :) read more

It was by accident that we found ourselves eating at this new cosy Mediterranean inspired café-resto. The owner was outside while we browed the menu and spoke very kindly to us, inspiring us to look further. We were not disappointed. The food was really delicious, homemade and fresh and the flavours were very inspiring. The décor was very cute, while the place is general small and the tables are not huge. There was a small group seated in the centre and conversations were overheard easily so I would not recommend this for a quiet romantic night out, its just not intimate enough. However service was friendly, albeit a little slow. A variety of formulas are on offer to allow you to taste the various flavours and watch over your budget. We tried a variety of tapas, including a guacamole of avocado, and a lentil dish that contained an eclectic array of spices. My Moroccan salmon was simply divine, a perfectly portioned dish, especially after several tapas and hot herbed bread. Monsieur's lamb meatballs were also exquisite. Top marks on the food. Just a shame the wine was served in water glasses (probably part of the décor and style but still). Prices are reasonable for the quality but high for the area. Would certainly go back :) read more

We called for reservations and they put us down for a time which wasn't even opening time yet..but we told them we were on our way so they took the reservations. We didn't know till we got there. The choices were limited because they were not open yet. May be they should've told us they weren't open. Yelp said it was open though. Anyways..had the lamb which was cooked ok, little on the overlooked side. Didn't realize my parsley and cilantro salad was just that. It was unique but honestly without the feta it would've gotten stuck in my throat. I think the intention was good but they need to add something to that. OK, to be fair - food was very nice, altho for that type of food in Brussels, you can find even better. But the attitude of the guy working there was beyond appalling! It looked more as if he just stopped by to play an extra in a movie than actually do some work, like serving for example. It took forever to even ask for the drinks, let alone for the food or to bring it. It was nearly TWO hours to bring the food and the resto as tiny as it is wasn't even half full! I'm not gonna even mention how the menu (black on white) says you can order some wines as glasses, not only bottles and he refused outright to serve those to few of our company "because he didn't have a bottle open and he wasn't going to open one just for that"... Excuse my language, but WTF?! Bottom line is, my friends and I, ate as fast as possible to get out of there and are NOT coming back, nor is either of our friends. The wine is nothing special, but the food and the atmosphere in this small place are amazing. It's Lebanese without advertising it: Instead it feels like a cosy home's kitchen, with the same attention in taste and extra attention in presentation.
