The entire audience seemed excited for the performance, with the Christmas spirit felt throughout the lobby and theater. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The available concessions were tasty, though the spiked eggnog was sorely missed this year. One recommendation would be to improve communication regarding drink availability at the bars. If certain beverages are not served at the theater entrance bar (like hot cocoa and coffee), they should not appear on that menu, or guests should be informed before waiting in line. I witnessed dozens of theatergoers being told after a long wait that hot drinks were only available at the side bar by the front windows which created a lot of unnecessary frustration. The Wells Theatre has a wonderful antique nostalgia while remaining well maintained and very clean. We were fortunate to experience the show from a completely different seat location that previous years, on the opposite side of the house, and the updated writing and script changes were enough to keep the production feeling fresh and engaging. We also appreciated the intermission being placed after the First Spirit rather than after the Second, as in previous years, as it made the acts feel more balanced. Additionally, the return of the Third Spirit's in-audience entrance was definitely appreciated.

However, as soon as the show began we were captivated. It was very exciting from start to finish and not like any other event I have been to in this area before. The performance was about 2 hours, divided into many smaller performances that were each about 5 - 8 minutes (guesstimating) . Of all the performances, there was only one that we thought was a little cheesy. Otherwise, we loved the show and had a great time. I was considering bringing my 4 year old niece, but there are parts of the show that I thought could be scary to a small child. I would guess most of the kids there were probably 6-10 years old. If you're looking for something different to try out, definitely give this a go. The arena is pretty small too, so i wouldn't recommend paying the VIP price for tickets, since there's only about 20 rows of seats anyway.

This is modern, international, SOULFUL, spectacle of immense talent. Lighting, sets, sound engineering, and costuming were all accomplished very well. The performances were out of this world!!! The acrobatic skill level was the best I've seen in years! The two muscle/strength guys- I still don't know how you did it!?!?! Hats off to the high fliers and all those who performed way up in the air defying gravity. The show was excellent. The message of family and each generation bringing the next along and upward was touching. At the end, all the cultures and nations of the performers were highlighted. We sat in the dress circle in row A and let me just say that was a great choice. With our seven-year-old along, it can be difficult to keep her still so this seat choice allowed us a little bit of space in a spot to lean and helped her stay engaged in watching the whole production. The only complaints that I have, is that when it is a full house, there aren't nearly enough bathrooms available for the short intermission. And of course, snacks and drinks are probably the same although, to be honest, I didn't stand in line for those so I can't say for certain, just from what I saw heading to the restroom. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the volunteers absolutely go out of their way to make sure everything is as perfect as possible. As a disabled person I have my challenges and they really go above and beyond to ensure I am comfortable and cared for. Every single volunteer is pleasant and thoughtful and they all give 100%. The costumes, direction and choreography of the plays is spot on and the attention to detail is very professional. I am always blown away at the level of professionalism here. As I said earlier, it's a level above what one normally finds in community theater. It is a fun experience to attend these performances. There is lots of parking and everything is handicapped accessible. Do yourself a favor and take in a show.

After doing the ceremonial walk around the entire Chrysler Hall looking for the entrance door. We finally found the red doors on either side of the Chrysler box office that go down into the garage and then followed the signs. We were really impressed with the set design and how quickly the crew changes in between scenes. The stage is small and the audience is seated within few feet of the performance. We saw "Hand to God" for our first Generic Theatre production and were incredibly impressed by the quality production. I am a NYC transplant who loves the experimentation and risk of off broadway shows and this show delivered on all counts from the welcoming greeting at the front of the house to the imaginatively clever and versatile set design and the outstanding acting. The detailed dressing and props and musical accompaniment (Van Halen anyone?) all enhanced this terrific show! It is the acting that impressed the most and, as would be expected, it's Brenden Hoyle's portrayal of Jason/Tyrone (his evil hand puppet) that made this production a must-see. Since this review is about the theater experience itself I won't go into detail, however, the director was able to really evoke feeling and character from each actor in an intense, dark play about grief and religion and sex. This play was funny and had LOTS of laughs - only talented actors and directors can straddle this edge! Every member of the cast and crew was exceptional and definitely deserving of the heartfelt standing ovation they received! We can't wait til the next Generic Theater performance!

The venue felt very intimate and I love that. I would definitely go back if I was in the area. I don't think they had food but go to Jack Browns for a burger or Benny's for pizza.
