This store is such an experience. I felt like I stepped into another world when I walked in. There are treasures around every corner and although there is a lot of stuff in there, it was curated so well (and smelled great). All of my senses were delighted. This place has the coolest jeans I've seen with patches of fabric. The associate said they have some Japanese vintage jeans, some new from Japan, and a collection of their own in-house designer who works with a local seamstress to incorporate fabric patches in the most creative ways. If you want to make your own jeans, they have books and craft kits for sashiko (a traditional Japanese embroidery technique for mending, reinforcing, and decorating fabric with white running stitches on indigo-dyed cloth Indigo dyes) as well as indigo dye kits. They also have other fashionable clothing items including hats and shirts and the most beautiful, unique jackets and coats. read more

We love visiting Portland and Kiriko is always our first stop - after grabbing a bite to eat of course. I love the ethos of this store, reusing high quality textiles and transforming them into incredible apparel and home goods. One my favorite purchases is a denim hat, which doesn't sound like a big deal but I've found it nearly impossible to find a hat that looks good and fits well on me. I would describe it as a great pair of jeans for my head. Recently, we needed some new throw pillows for our sofa. I thought of Kiriko and was very excited to find a beautiful design with their signature navy look. I ordered the pillows online and they arrived in Seattle very quickly. The inserts are very high quality and I couldn't be happier. There's no other store like this in the US. Well worth a visit. read more

Nice store, full of vintage Knick knacks, things that you would find at your Asian great grandmother's home. There's another Kiriko across the street that has more housewares and snackie things. Pretty things, good browsing, way too expensive for my pocket book. read more

Is it a clothing shop? Is it an accessory boutique? Is it a museum? After wandering through this place a couple of times, I'm convinced it's all of the above. The charming displays of Japanese curios, textiles, clothing and assorted vintage items are all impeccably arranged so as you wander through the crowded space you're never quite sure what's for sale and what's not, but the place is full-on magical. It's visually chaotic but somehow serene at once, with incense wafting through the air as you turn corner after corner, only to discover a completely new arrangement of colorful items. They are apparently a lifestyle brand, and seems like they specialize in upcycled handmade clothing, (among other things). Bearing that in mind, prices can be pretty steep, but given the care and curation of the store itself I'd imagine the goods are likewise well crafted I've never bought anything here, but I will definitely come back to Kiriko just to experience its one-of a-kind vibe again read more

Beware of the care instructions, I bought these jeans about a month ago (https://kirikomade.com/products/kiriko-original-denim-jeans-custom-dyed-premium-selvedge-yellow-nami?variant=43693731184802), they were washed twice per the care instructions and the stain they use for their leather patches has bled out over the denim, staining it permanently. Customer service just said "we have never heard of that happening with our jeans before" which doesn't inspire hope that things will change, but I do hope they replace the care labels on their products, it certainly isn't fair to customers to state that they're suitable for cold wash/ tumble dry low. read more

I was intrigued by this shop while browsing google maps and stopped in. Immediately, I fell in love. Lightly scented incense was burning, there's wares everywhere (in cases, on tables, hanging from the ceiling) and it's a quiet sort of chaos. I enjoyed wandering and browsing these beautiful Japanese items including books, bags, clothes, and jewelry. The prices are high so expect that going in, but very cool stuff. The person checking me out was super nice too. Really enjoyed my time here. read more

Be careful when ordering they had damaged product and although they offered a discount. Their shipping went up from 22$ to $58 even though I ordered from their website. They made it seem like my fault and my burden. I was buying a $300 item. I shouldn't be charged more after I create and approve the purchase (with shipping) on their website - that is shady. read more

A beautifully curated shop that I absolutely enjoy visiting every time I am in downtown Portland. Aside from their upcycled textiles, they have a wonderful selection of Buddhist statuary which are very reasonably priced given the detail. I was on a time crunch last time I visited, but I would have liked to spend more time browsing their ceramics and hand towels. read more

Service is strangely hostile and unfriendly. I've been here five times in two years. No one says hello. They don't look at you. They keep talking to each other. Like I'm not worth acknowledging. And I have tourist dollars to spend and I buy a lot of stuff. I'm the only customer inside! That said they have very nice items. Vintage and new Japanese textiles. African trade beads. Hokkaido Ainu ceramics and wood carvings. Like a folk art museum. The collection is very very special. Handmade. Warm. But. When I was admiring wall hangings, my eyes locked with a store clerk's. Mr. beard was glowering, hostile, silent. Like I was going to steal. Not a good feeling. 5 for the selection and value. Zero for humanity. I thought my fifth visit maybe something will be different. I'm fashion nooby but this shop is so damn cute! We randomly ran into this while strolling arojnd downtown and it immediately caught our eyes. Lots of outfits with heavy Japanese influences with unique twists. They have an interesting collection of denim jackets in the back of the store, where they take brand name jackets (e.x. Lee) and add patches with Japanese patterns. The shop assistants were attentive and friendly. read more

Just stopped in after brunch on a Sunday afternoon, my family in town were searching for a more breathable bandana or mask. They found beautiful masks with awesome prints and I purchased a beautiful scarf to wear as a mask and some incense. I will be back because I saw some other things I would love to look at when I have more time. A little hard to find - start going into Compound Gallery but walk straight, through the Japanese indigo curtains, and down the stairs. The staff are cutting, sewing, and making experimental clothing with vintage Japanese cloths and bric-a-brac, like American Army uniforms. Every shape and size of piece of elegant cloth is gently displayed: pocket squares, handkerchiefs, things I don't know the use of but want to know. Updated kiminos and Japanese firemen's jackets are rebuilt from old parts, and surprisingly affordable for unique fashion: often under $200. They seem to be open from noon to 5 or so on weekdays, go to kirikomade.com and make sure they're expecting you. Service is generous and enthusiastic, the designer wants to show you everything and explain everything. read more

Absolutely beautiful store, with stunning items that run the gamut from clothes to accessories, books, and art. I'm over to the moon to have found a place that has a clear and deep appreciation for vintage Japanese goods and style. Customer service, though...well, I guess you could say that they follow the Japanese mindset there, too. Perfectly friendly and pleasant, but very standoffish in-store. Which is fine, but can feel a bit 'gatekeeping' and intimidating, especially if you don't have a ton of experience and knowledge of items they sell. In keeping with that, don't expect responses via email or social media. That said, Kiriko is absolutely worth your time and money, if you're into this sort of thing. They are absolutely unique and I wish them the best. read more

Great store with the most unique textiles and goods I've seen. The quality is top notch and customer service is great. I bought a few tote bags from here (they are at a great price point) and a fastener on one of the bags came out. They sent me a shipping label to return the bag for repairs and sent it back to me, free of charge. They stand by their product! read more

I recently ordered a pair of denim from Kiriko and couldn't be happier. The ordering process was swift and easy and the delivery arrived in a matter of days via USPS. Erin even helped me update some personal information via email and made sure that I had all of the communication I needed.
