During my recent annual physical, she briefly asked me about my asthma, which I reported was stable and even improving. She then renewed my existing prescription, and we moved on. I was shocked to later receive a separate charge for an office visit based solely on that brief conversation. I am a relatively new patient and was not aware this was their billing practice. My previous doctor never charged me for this, so I will be returning to them as a patient. I also called the office for clarification, but unfortunately Dr. Abraham has not returned my call. In summary, if you have a minor medical condition that requires an annual prescription renewal, do not seek care at Rocky Hill Family Physicians.

I wanted to share a concern about my experience during check-in for my procedure…read more When I arrived, I was informed by the front desk that I had a $45 copay. I explained that I was not told about this when my appointment was confirmed, and because I was coming in for a procedure, I did not bring cash or credit cards with me. The front desk staff member said she would speak with Dr. Edmunds. When she returned, she stated that if I could not pay the $45 copay, I would need to reschedule because the office is cracking down on collecting copays. She then asked if I could borrow the money from my driver. Thankfully, my driver was able to help me, but the situation was very frustrating and embarrassing. My concern is that I had already taken the day off work, followed the preparation instructions, fasted, arranged transportation, and showed up ready for my procedure. To be told at that point that my procedure could possibly be canceled over a $45 copay was very upsetting. I completely understand that offices have policies regarding copays and patient responsibility. However, if those policies are going to be strictly enforced, I believe patients should be informed ahead of time, especially before a scheduled procedure. A courtesy call or reminder letting the patient know the amount due at check-in would help avoid situations like this. I am not refusing to pay my copay, but I do feel the communication could have been handled better. Patients should not find out the day of a procedure, after fasting and making arrangements, that their appointment may be canceled due to a payment they were not made aware of in advance. I hope this concern can be reviewed so future patients are properly informed before their procedure day.

After four treatments, I felt like myself again. Now we are four months into treatment and I am off of the prescription anti-inflammatory drugs, the nerve blockers, and the pain killers that have been a daily requirement for over a decade since my rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. Even though I have always been health conscious, eating clean and exercising, this treatment has restored my quality of life. No more down days spent exhausted and laid out in pain. I no longer lie awake at night in excruciating pain and no longer suffer debilitating neuropathy. I am returning to my over-achieving former self. I do my part with diet, exercise, and sleep maintenance. Dr. Iduna does her part by listening to my needs and adjusting treatment. The office is convenient and comfortable. My only regret is not pursuing this treatment a decade ago and avoiding the minefield of prescription drug side effects and lost functionality.
