As a family owned business you would think they would take pride in things like customer service, treating people with respect but it really seems to depend on the mood of their one worker. I'm not sure what her name is. She is nice sometimes when I come in, and other times, she cuts me off when I'm speaking. Their customer service has really gone down hill. My main concern however is their lack of food labeling. There are no best before dates, or "consume by". There are no ingredients listed on their packaging. You're taking a gamble with trusting that because it's "gluten free" it's safe to eat. They don't label any other possible allergens aside from dairy/eggs. If they're going to chemically alter their baked goods, they should label them as such. They've recently added some coolers to their store to add in some other fresh items. You can grab fresh pizza dough, and other things. I noticed a lot was not labeled again with a price or ingredients. $7 for a small portion of pizza dough was pretty outrageous. I get the convenience of being able to grab and go though. I'm just not sure it's worth the price. It would be nice if they added a cafe or something where you could sit and enjoy a coffee and pastry. If you don't mind the mediocre customer service, high prices, and guessing game of will this give me some sort of allergic reaction then absolutely I recommend you check this place out. read more

As I write this, I am biting into a beautiful soft, fluffy sweet blueberry muffin. If someone on the street handed it to me I would be shocked to find out it is gluten free. I picked this delicious breakfast treat from Kinnickkinnick Edmonton, just tucked into the northern section of downtown Edmonton. I have seen their products in the major grocery stores and have picked up some of the staples, so it shouldn't have been a surprise that their in house bakery would be of equal quality. My expectations were exceeded with the selection of fresh baked treats. I picked up a cinnamon bun, pizza buns, muffins and more and with each taste I have been so happy with they quality and the texture of everything. So often gluten free can mean crumbly and dry and my experience has been anything but. If you are Celiac, gluten free or just want some great bakery goods at a store with great staff, this is your place. Well worth a drive! read more

The fact that I live in the city & can drive up and get FRESH, nutritious gluten-free bread is a bonus for me. If you don't live in the city, they SHIP! It's not just a bakery store, but a small glutenfree essentials store as well. Pick up their custom blended cake mix! Don't stop there, there's cookie mixes, flour blend, bread mixes... all ingredients tested 100% gluten free! I can also get GoGoQuinoa products, pastaRiso, Pastato, hot kid crackers, chips. AND Glutino crackers, ketchup. BBQ sauce, salad dressing, gravy mix, deli meat soup pretzels ... the list just goes on and on. And about the PANCAKE/Waffle mix... oh yes, it's good if you don't make your own from scratch. And you can buy a tub of it. Not big enough for some families, they eat a lot of pancakes (Eric - that's for you), and just right for most. Need dairy-free or nut-free? Yeah, they can help you out with that too. Don't want to bake your own? (Really, their mixes ARE good and super easy!) Need to order a birthday or wedding cake? Cupcakes? Call ahead 7-10 days to order though, they need a bit of time to plan and decorate. Want a cupcake/muffin cake instead? Sure thing! The carrotcake muffins with fabulous frosting are my favourite. I can get just a couple instead of baking a giant pan and eating them all myself. Going on a holiday? I pack an extra suitcase or bag with essentials; aka BREAD. Soft White yummy bread. More fibre than most commercial breads for wheat eaters! Yes, it's GOOD for you. And better still, it has been tested to stay frozen for a year - you heard me, a YEAR and still be great when thawed correctly. Yes, you can have choice! There is multi-grain, cinnamon raisin bread as well. I also pick up my Freybe meats here - gluten free, and I crave the honey garlic meat sticks. Frozen pie shells, tart shells, you might need to call ahead. Depending on the season and the demand they DO sell out. You can also buy the mix to make your own, or frozen blobs of dough for your custom creation. Pizza crusts - you bet - regular and thin crust. Yes, they are square. Best reason - you can tell quickly that it IS or is not gluten free if you happen to have a household with both in the freezer! PERFORMATIVE RACISTS WORK HERE! I've been a customer for nearly a decade and was mocked recently for being indigenous in their store by one of the people who work up front. This place is named after sacred indigenous medicine, however they have old white people who mock indigenous people working with customers. I asked the lady how she was doing as i was paying for my food and she began chanting "HI HOW ARE YOU" in a stereotypical native accent, and when i told her that wasn't nice she proceeded to start chanting it repeatedly again, but even louder the second time! and then laughed as i walked out the door. I should have reviewed this store years ago. I can't believe that as of now there are only 9 other reviews. I expected that the Celiac community would be ranting and raving about this company and their store and my review would be lost in the shuffle. This doesn't seem to be the case though! I've known about Kinnikinnick for a long time. They used to have a store on 99 St. and I would drive by it quite often and read their signs about gluten free food. They are now located is a sort of industrial area around 120 St and 109 Ave because their store and production facility are all int he same building. This is a world leader in gluten free foods and we are so lucky that they are a local company! I am not celiac myself but do have a celiac partner. I knew the bare basics about Celiac disease when we started dating but did not have experience with any of the packaged food, specialty items, or bread products. So I can write my review from the perspective on a non-celiac person who has experienced all of the gluteny food out there and sampled and tried lots of non-gluten versions of products. I have also experienced the pre-boom and the current boom in gluten-free products. Things have come a long way in the last 6-7 years! So as far as Kinnikinnick goes this is an A++++++ store and company. It doesn't get much better than this for gluten-free food and knowledge. If you are newly diagnosed Celiac you should do two things 1) Contact the Edmonton Celiac Association (http://www.celiacedmonton.ca), become a member and take one of their "Gluten Free living 101" courses and 2) go shopping at Kinnikinnick and also talk to their staff. They really do have some great products there. You MUST try their breads! They came out with these new formulations a few years ago now and they are the closest thing you will have to "normal" bread. I don't mind it as a non-Celiac person and have no problem eating it (there are many other GF breads I would turn down easily). Their baguettes are also great and best bought and eaten as fresh as possible (as with any baguette). I have tried many of my partners other GF breads and some of them are horrible horrible stuff. Celiacs are very lucky with all of the new bread products that are coming out. Kinnikinnick also has some great dessert items. We often buy the cupcakes...so great! The store also has a wide variety of items; a lot of the basics you will need to stock a pantry, plus frozen items, bread products, desserts, snacks and so much more! read more

As a person that can't have gluten or dairy I am so thankful for Kinnikinnick. They have monthly flavour specials so people with allergies don't feel left out during the holidays. Some of my favourite things are their frozen pizza crusts, flatbreads, English muffins, (perfect for breakfast sandwiches) fresh cinnamon buns and muffins. They also have dry mixes, and you can get custom cakes made for birthdays. The staff are lovely and can answer any questions you may have. They are closed Sundays and Mondays but are open Saturdays. read more

We love Kinnikinnick Fresh! The storefront is a dream come true for celiacs and those with other food sensitivities. Not only do they have a vast bakery but they have full ingredient lists readily available so you can be sure it's safe for your particular needs. The cinnamon buns are amazing, the pizza buns are oh so yummy, and there are so many little 'extras' to find that make allergen safe eating a lot more fun! Try the bread straight from here if you have only had the frozen stuff from the grocery store, it's even better fresh! We can't wait to attend a cooking demo in the future! I'm glad I decided to check out this place. My local grocery store does sell some of kinniknnick in store, but not the entire selection. So of course when you go directly to the manufacturer, you eat everything they make. They have a huge variety of gluten free options. They have boxed mixes of cakes, cookies, pancakes, flours. They have some in larger sizes as well. They have cereals, pasta, soups, frozen entrees, frozen and fresh bread. Bagels, English muffins. I do wish the bagels came pre cut, not a huge deal. Just nice when it's done. They have fresh-ish baked goods. I say that because they don't have dates on them. So you don't know what was made when. They have a variety of sweet treats, cheesy buns, muffins, etc. I did take a star off because they are very expensive, and they do not take any third party coupons. They do have a sign at the till. You would think if you go directly to the manufacturer, it would be slightly more cost effective. Sadly it's not. It would be great if they'd offer a frequent buyer program, or a reward points or something to that effect. Gluten free is not inexpensive. Also bring your own shopping bags, as they do charge. That would be handy to know before you get in the store. Maybe put a sign on the door. read more

While I can only review their products as I've actually never been in their storefront shop, I must say I am a huge fan. I'm not gluten sensitive, celiac or choosing a GF lifestyle; it is an issue in my house with 2 gluten sensitive members. Almost every meal I cook involves modifications to suit them. Whether it's GF bread crumbs, cookies, breads, baking items, sweets or whatever it is that has to be changed. Kinnikinnick has what we need to make our meals enjoyable for everyone! My mom has Celiac disease, and I am allergic to yeast (and I am also suspected to have Celiac), so I eat a lot of gluten-free foods. A lot of people think that people who cannot eat wheat or gluten have nothing to eat. I've seen the pity in their eyes, but I am here to tell you that there is no more need for pity! Kinnikinnick has come to the rescue of Celiacs everywhere! This gluten-free bakery has some really amazing items. There are some ill-tasting gluten-free products out there, but most of Kinnikinnick's items are extremely tasty. The most delicious items are the chocolate cupcakes, carrot cakes, muffins, cookies, lemon tarts, and pizza buns. I actually can't even tell that these items are gluten-free--they are that good. The donuts are also quite good, but they are a bit heavy and brick-like. I don't personally like their pizza crusts--I have a much better recipe that I make at home. The gluten-free bread doesn't taste like real bread--it's not even close really, but I have gotten used to it, and I like it. It's best toasted. The English muffins, however, are very good. They are very light and spongy. I wouldn't bother going for the hamburger buns, because they seem to be the same recipe as the English muffins and are too small. I also don't enjoy the hot dog buns, because they are way too big, and it feels like I am eating my hot dog between to giant slices of sponge cake. The store is rather expensive, but for Celiacs it's worth it. There are other products on the shelves like pasta and flour mixes. Some of this stuff you are get elsewhere for cheaper, especially the brown rice pasta. The packaged gravies are really good and are worth every penny. Kinnikinnick does ship items all over the world. They also take orders, but if it's close to a holiday like Christmas, you need to order early; otherwise, you'll miss out. read more

YAY, Canada is on yelp! They are a Gluten Free food manufacturer located in Edmonton, but ship to the US and are one of the favored suppliers to the US for Wheat and Gluten Free products. They currently are our preferred vendor for mini and small Gluten Free pizza crusts. They have many other products available. I have been using their products for over a year, and really appreciate their efforts to get shipments to us, despite of having to wait for a border crossing. They only get 4 stars because they have not yet started producing large pizza crusts. That and they sometimes screw up the orders. read more

Everything in this store is gluten free. The white bread is the best tasting gluten free bread I've ever had. Often Gluten-free products are lacking taste or have an off taste. They are 5.00 a loaf but worth it if looking for taste. They also have many goodies like jelly rolls, cakes and cinnamon twists. Great gluten-free and dairy free friendly bakery. It is now part of my monthly grocery shopping, part of my lifestyle. :) Nothing is disappointing. The best place for hamburger buns, nice, soft, tastes great and stays together. Unlike other store where its dry and crumbles. I bought the peach/blueberry pie delicious! Highly recommended. Kinnikinnick continues to improve gluten free eating! Their new soft white bread and soft multigrain bread is FANTASTIC! To all of you gluten free eaters out there, I know you are doubting this statement, but you absolutely must try bread. You will never buy another brand again. Ever. This new bread had TONS of fibre and is FORTIFIED! No toasting needed. Really. And a FULL loaf - a real LOAF for $4.99. Unheard of pricing for those paying the premium for gluten free. They are also using this new bread recipe for their buns. The muffins also seem to have gotten a makeover - my favorites being the carrot pineapple and the blue raspberry. And as always, the lemon tarts and the pancake mix are great. I do wish more of these products were more readily available at local grocery stores - Kinnikinnick ships around the world, but Edmontonians must drive to their only location in central Edmonton to shop the whole line. I run an afterschool program here in the city and every year we have a "See you again soon" party. This year, we had two little ones who are allergic to gluten and nuts and one of my volunteers suggested this bakery. Though happy happy with the choice (we had a 16x14 marble cake with chocolate frosting and added decorations cake) that the kids completely finished off, the price was still a bit stiff ($85). I only say this because as a school in the city core and knowing the income level of many of the kids we serve, when one of the parents asked me about the cake, I was very happy to tell them about the bakery, however, I did need to preface with the fact that the prices are a bit higher than they may wish. Nonetheless, I am happy to support this local bakery for our kids when we can and the occasion calls for it as it is SO great to be able to do this so that ALL of our students can enjoy sweets together. They have absolutely awesome pies and cupcakes! Recently we tried two pies: Banana Cream (dairy free) and Lemon Meringue (also dairy free). Scrumptious! I'm a sucker for their cupcakes, too. Great place to buy gluten-free bakery products made on site

We are a family of 6 who eats Gluten Free because our Daughter is Celiac and this is by far the best place in Edmonton to get Gluten Free Food . We have tried every brand of GF Bread on the market and the Kinnikinnick Bread is Hands downs the best Bread Available. Most of the other GF Bread is just not edible unless you toast it, but this bread is just perfect for sandwiches in my kids lunch boxes. So soft and moist you don't even need a gallon of water to get it down like most other GF bread. You would never know it was Gluten Free. They also carry a good selection of cookies, cupcakes , muffins and the best Cheese Buns. You have to come early in the day to get fresh buns because they usually sell out by late afternoon. We have purchased their large sheet cakes many times for Birthdays but I find the icing is so sweet you can barely eat it. The cake is good but they need to cut down on the icing it is to much even for the kids. The staff is very knowledgeable if you are also avoiding things like dairy, nuts, oats etc.... They know ever ingredient list for every product that they make and they are always very helpful in explaining which items contain Dairy or Not. If you are New to the world of Gluten free then this is the place you want to go , you will be able to get all the best food and the best advice on Gluten Free food. read more

Brutal service. We were having a company BBQ and needed some gluten free buns. I called and asked if they had fresh gluten free buns, was told yes we have lots of fresh and frozen. I headed down and asked for two dozen buns, was told there is only six, if I wanted that many I would need to order 48.hours prior. Really...for 24 buns. Why not tell me this on the phone. Super disappointed with this store. I was expecting more of a store. When I went there they shelfs didn't look full, the staff didn't even say hello and we walked around the small store lost. I ended up walking out with some tart crusts. They where overpriced and awful. I went compleatly out of my way To make it to the store as i live in millwoods. When i left i was 100% disappointed. I think I will stick to save on foods on calgary trail ( they have a great selection of gf foods!) as well as planet organic. read more
