I also remember we stopped being allowed to play tackle football. On the other side of the grounds there were swings, a jungle gym, monkey bars, and a slide. Mrs. Timmy was nice. Honestly I think I liked her because she was kind of a hottie. Mrs. Sweeney and Scarlatta were great teachers. The principal was a very nice dude. I don't remember his name. :( But he was compassionate when I was sent to him by Cami for sneaking into the girls locker room from the neighboring woodshop classroom after she dared me to. No one was in there and it didn't didn't seem like that big a deal.. such a betrayal!!! I cried. Wimpy then and now.. Also, my birdhouse leaked. And i lainted the ski hill shoe I made in Pottery class brown. Why would a ski hill, even one on a shoe, be brown? Huge mistake. Gross. I had a Venezuela country assignment in 5th grade. I remember something about lianas. I also studied George Washington Carver. I believe it was one of the first bigtime books I ever read. And I am still a big fan of Dr. Carver. People can talk smack, but he was the man. Innovation after innovation. People lack respect for humility and problem solvers. It's all about glory these days.. But back then it was Tina Turner and we weren't sure what love had to do with it, only that girls just wanna have fun. Benetton was in. At least for a while. Care Bears. And Mrs. Wertheimer and her frogs doled out some great assignments to create a faux historical document and also to debate a topic. I would say what I chose but it is very Un p.c. and I lost the debate. And to history. I was wrong. That was the last time.

Mrs. Litt, who I see now is leading educational programs at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens? Most excellent. Lots of devoted teachers. Some quirky students. Go Lions. Who could forget Mr. Donato's 4th floor of Tillinghast history and economics lectures. They included Yiddish terms (including from Laverne and Shirley.. see schlamiel and schlamozel..), the Holland Tunnel effect (yawning), and other errata. Emily predicted the German reunification. Good call kiddo! The English prof's comedic impressions of the lil tramp were pretty good but I'm more of a Buster Keaton and Vince Vaughn guy. We used to be able to go down the hill. I learned a lot racing in video games, playing the carnival pinball machine "ride the ferris wheel.." and smashing buildings as a gorilla or dinosaur. The pizza was good. And I didn't get mugged. :) Winning. Mr "Lombardi" told me I was the worst gym student he ever had. It's a badge of distinction I bare with honor to this day. And who could forget the square dancing gym classes led by that chunky southern? fellow. Wasn't he also a wrestling coach? Never have I been so fit in mind and body. Skip to the loo my darling. Is that a bathroom reference? No idea. Round and round we go.. I might have forgotten a detail or two. But it was all worth it. Like Ivan Boesky and Eliott Spitzer I've gone on to lead in an ethical and honorable fashion, leading first by example.. But I digress.. Mr. Timko's physics classes taught me how to find God. After our class he taught only theater.. I was always a lil sad about that and I am probably partly to blame. But I'm sure he was one heck of a theater teacher as well. He would let us retake tests as many times as we wanted to try and improve our grade. But each time the test would be a lil harder. The point was to master the material. Talk about testing reform. You were a Jedi señor. And Breck made me feel low for doing a drive by flicking off of Fieldston more by force of his humble example and leadership than by any lecture or harsh words. Character. There were bad apples too. But to a person Judd said those were his favorites. So to each their own. Although the cool parents made sure their kids didn't get stuck with them.. Thanks for nothing mom and Dad!!! Magna est Veritas et Praevalet: Great is the Truth and it Prevails. Even if it sometimes it takes a while or gets sidetracked by corruption.. :P I don't recall carving my name or initials in any of the old wood, but I did free several generations of fruit flies in science class. Oh and I remember the silence of one science professor who scoffed at me when I said jetted water is used for precision metal cutting.. he didn't say anything when I brought in a clipping for the company that made the equipment. Who's laughing now? I'm Yelp ELITE!!! Maybe he moved on.. or simply lacked the requisite grace and humility to make a correction.. Fortunately there were others who taught me to search out, to question, to struggle, to rethink, and to challenge myself. Ultimately, they taught me that there is tremendous joy in learning. At the arcade and in the classroom. I should also mention Sal's Salumeria.

My son is in K this year and attended last year in Pre-K. Both of my children love that school. It has truly changed over the years and for the better. Good Shepherd is a community of Administration and Faculty that care for the needs of every child and work hard with all the parents to get those needs met. When you walk inside you feel a sense of being a part of an everlasting family and that feeling lasts even after your child(ren) has/have left that school. I truly appreciate the steps and measures that are taken to make my child's school experience a success. Thank you Good Shepherd!

He even takes the time to review chain stores like McDonalds, Subways, Staples, Home Depot. If you knew anything remotely close about good food you wouldn't be eating at those places. The guy is a joke, take it from someone who has a child attending the school. The teachers and staff are dedicated, caring, and up to par when compared to most schools in the area. I've attended a couple of their school events and they seem to genuinely care about the well- being of their students. Paying for this school means getting your money's worth because you know your child is being taught life lessons that will last them a life time. So I would completely disregard reviews coming from someone who gives majority of their reviews 1-2 stars not because the places are actually bad but because he/she is miserable. You could just tell he looks for the smallest reason to give companies bad reviews.

My Ex-Husband, My daughter's father works in the design and marketing department. The school allowed my Ex-husband to use his Postion as a platform to harass me for as far back as my daughter's enrollment. Each parent logs into a parent portal to track thier child's progress and I was repeatedly locked out of my parent portal from 2016-2019. My name was removed twice from the aftercare release form and replaced both times with the name of my Ex-husbands live in girlfriend. Every school event would exclude my name from it's greeting cards. I complained on so many occasions that one director of one department would just brush me off to the director of another over and over again. My daughter lives with me in New York and she's with her father in New Jersey on the weekends but her report card would read in reverse and list him as a primary address and myself as a secondary. My private maiden name was once listed on the release form instead of My Ex-husband's last name which I carry. My private family name was completely unknown to the school and the modification could have only been made by My Ex-husband himself. Each of my daughter's teachers with the exception of one were confrontational or dismissive towards me and on occasion I'd catch them openly gossiping about myself or other parents. I had a child support increase modification which the school ignored for six months and that I had to pull my Ex-husband into court for while all along it was his employer who was defying thier legal obligations. The school falsified my daughter's amount of absences and lateness on her report card so much that there was a huge discrepancy between what the teacher reported vs what the nurse reported. In court my Ex-husband repeatedly blamed the tech department for all the electronic errors all along he himself is the site developer. It's just been such a disgusting experience at Dwight Englewood for me. Last Spring I emailed the school director to confirm that I would not be signing back on for the 20-21 school year in light of the pandemic. The director informed me that she had forwarded my cancellation email to my Ex-husband and she wouldn't accept my cancellation until she knew what the court said. when I refused to sign the 20-21 school year registration form by signature the same director told me that she had just rolled my information over from the year prior and that the school could proceed without me. The Dwight Englewood staff has literally bullied me for the past three years and I do not wish to ever revisit the experience that I've had at Dwight. In someways the school operates like the Mafia, I was treated so poorly and was always treated as If the school just expected me to just except the abuse because of how big and prestigious the school was. I'm disappointed and hurt, and The school shouldn't have taken sides and the issues should have been if not rectified at least addressed rather then ignored. It definitely wasn't the nurturing experience for myself and my daughter that you read about online.

They paint a beautiful picture. But behind closed doors our kids are SUFFERING. There is so much more I didn't mention in this post! My son's dad one day for lunch forgot to pack his spoon. So my son during lunch had his hand up to see if he can get up to get one (yes they have them controlled like boot camp during lunch) everyone ignored his raised hand. So my son that day did not eat lunch ‼‼ The scholars complain about SA pointing out every mistake they make. The pressure they have with classwork including being timed on EVERYTHING. Not able to use the restroom causing the students to wet their pants ! From the fear they have towards the staff or NOT allowing the students to go on time. Including MY child back in 1 st grade. It took ME 3 days to get the smell of urine off his FEET! From 11 am when the accident happen all the way till dismissal time he was left with shoes and sock FULL of URINE The parents NOT being notified when the students wet their pants. Causing the students to be left with their shoes full of urine. The students Not able to drink water when they ask to. Several times during dismissal my son begs for me to take him to the rest room before we head out the the building. The students including my scholar fears some teachers due to their tone of voice. The boot camp system the school carries. Students complaining how their legs hurt or fall asleep during rug time. Having to sit crisscross hands on lap during all lessons! The communication with the school is very poor! Especially the experience I had with my sons IEP - speech services. The speech providers leave and the school does NOT notify the parents. My son this year from December - March did not receive speech services and the school never notified me that the speech provider had left. MY SON notified me! For the past two years I've had to fit in my schedule to take my son to a individual speech therapist after a long day of school. To summarize it all my son calls the school a JAIL. The kids are not supported emotionally!
