As an admitted control freak, I must say it's weird handing over the reins to your big day to…read moresomeone else knowing that all the work you put into planning the wedding could be completely jumbled up. Next thing you know, your ceremony is in front of the dying eucalyptus tree instead of the majestic pine; the bar is serving only aged, discontinued Zima; and your DJ is set up in the bathroom. All things that could happen in the mind of a groomzilla, people!
But hiring Vignette Productions and Vivien was the best decision we ever made to ensure the month-of and day-of the wedding went as smoothly as possible. And by golly it did! It all went beautifully! Best day ever, in part thanks to Vignette Productions!
I realized going in that, second to catering, the coordinator was probably going to be the most important role in our wedding logistics. People don't think they need them (I didn't at first), but my gah, they're crucial! Luckily we were required to have one by our venue. The coordinator is going to be the one that ensures that all the other vendors and all the wedding party members do what they are supposed to, and ensure that the happy couple is stress-free and relaxed on the big day. Coordinators are absolutely necessary!
Vivien was recommended by one of my trustworthy groomsmaids and she was VERY on top of everything from the get-go. She was very responsive to all my issues and questions even while she was on vacation in Europe before our contract even started. I'm a HUGE emailer and I noticed some vendors preferred to talk on the phone or meet in person (WHICH I DREADED, and also from watching Judge Judy, emails are good records to watch your own behind lol) and Vivien was just as good with email as she was on the phone. So appreciated! I think the best thing she did was instill confidence in me that she would do everything necessary to bring to life the vision I had for my wedding day. I was very picky about a lot of things and I had A LOT of details to my wedding, and she really kept organized to make sure everything was executed amazingly. And since our venue was not all-inclusive (literally just a space) and everything from forks to flower arrangements had to be provided and organized, our wedding was no small feat. On top of that, the venue was historical so there were rules upon rules that had to be followed. She really worked with us, with the vendors, with the venue, and with our wedding party to ensure everything was perfect. The other vendors and the venue manager also said she was great to work with and organized, which I think they all appreciated greatly. I remember when I contacted a vendor about something close to the wedding, they were literally like, dude Vivien's got it covered haha.
On top of her work ethic and organizational skills, Vivien's personality was very relaxed and calming and open. She had great suggestions that we took, but never imposed ideas on us like it was her wedding (which I would TOTALLY do--I'd be like B that's a terrible idea you're dumb). And on the wedding day, she was really good at moving things along, leaving us alone to have our fun, and rarely/only came to us with a couple of questions as we ran late on wedding day (our fault as we took too long to get ready!). She also presents herself really well and looks nice during rehearsal and wedding day.
Most impressively, I'm still amazed how awesome she put together all our DIY and extensive decor we brought for our wedding. We had SO MUCH stuff that we wanted to display to make the wedding personal, which was all REALLY important to me, and she really pulled it off! We had her decorating our cake, arranging our centerpieces, putting a huge guestbook puzzle together, and sticking hundreds of paper hearts in the grass along the wedding aisle for crying out loud! Superwoman I tell you! Can't gush enough! Thank you Vivien! Sincerely, Groomzilla4Lyfe.
