They are open till 2 on Fridays and I get off work at 12. I asked if I could get an appointment with any doctor in the practice around 1 on a Friday. Nope. One doctor leaves at 12 on Fridays, and the other one doesn't work Fridays. So what the hell is happening on Fridays in this office? I've been a patient of Dr. Wood's for about 6 years now and have been in and out several times. What I appreciate about her is she suggests OTC treatments before having to bill your insurance for medical. I have plantar warts, and she told me to try the pads before coming in for treatment since her method is painful and takes a long time (she uses cantharidin to make it blister and bring the seeds to the surface of the skin). I ended up coming in since they spread, and her staff has been wonderful. At times, her appointments seem rushed, but she takes your concerns and interests seriously. My husband and I have had moles removed and other treatments in her office, and her staff has always gone above and beyond. When I was engaged, she asked me all about my wedding and was genuinely interested in all of the fun details. I don't understand the mostly negative reviews since my experiences have been anything but that. read more

What a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE OVERALL. I went in and they took a mole off in the office and I wasn't expecting that. Issue is the way it looks TODAY. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. It looks infected and like a HUGE hard white spot now. I've not gone back because I do not trust them now. Apparently I had an unpaid balance of 205.00 that I was unaware of. (We moved and have serious mail issues in Kingwood). It was just reported to the credit bureau a few days ago. I am in the process of trying to obtain a mortgage, as I have been doing serious credit repair for a few years now. I called American Credit Bureau immediately to pay it in full and ask for a DELETION LETTER versus just having it say PAID on the credit report. MEDICAL DEBTS can be deleted totally from all three bureaus whereas creditors cannot be deleted. We paid several others that were totally DELETED from all 3 bureaus, but when I asked about this one, I was told that it is "against their policy to delete completely and that they only mark the debt as paid". I told them that was totally unfair, as medical debts are eligible for deletion, not just PAID status. To be sure, I called back the collection agency and she told me that it is the discretion of the doctor's office itself, not the collection agency. The lady at the collection agency KNOWS it can be deleted, but said it is up to the doctor's office itself. I told them that was completely unfair of them to not delete it and to PUNISH their patients who may have had a financial difficulty that they are trying to take care of and make good on. Those are not very honest and fair business practices and I would keep that in mind when dealing with this particular business. read more

My dad's side of my family has very bad acne, and of course it's genetic so it was passed on to me pretty bad. Started seeing Dr Wood when I was 12-14 years old and the very first appointment with her my dad was trying to explain that this wasn't normal acne but it was genetic and very, very stubborn. She, in the most condescending tone I've ever heard, replies "well when you get your medical degree, you can call the shots" and I am honestly so surprised my dad didn't blow up on her but I'm thinking it was probably for my sake and him wanting me to get the treatment I needed that he wasn't able to at my age. We continued seeing her and I can't lie when I say that I used to talk to my dad on the way to these appointments about dreading seeing her every month. I was put on accutane about three different times, all different dosages and different forms of it. Some trials were 6 months, some almost a year. My acne would go away completely and I would think we wouldn't need to do it anymore so we would go off of it. A few months later it would return. This happened about three or four times, and each time I lost hope. I started asking my dad to just give up because it was useless but he said no. But we were both angry that there was no point of seeing her every month because the visits lasted no more than five minutes, and most of it was with just the nurse and Dr Wood came in about the last 2 minutes saying, "hey how's it going? Just a few more months, just stick it out and you'll be fine. See you next time" and leave. I felt bad that my dad would have to pay for these ridiculously short visits that the doctor wasn't even around for most of the time. The last straw was a year or two ago, and they started talking to me about some sort of laser procedure to help with my acne. Dad made the appointment and they told him it would take no more than 30 minutes and it would be done that day. We arrive, check in, everything normal. We get into the room and the nurse comes in and sits down and asks if I care more about texture or redness. We talk a little and she continues on and says that the procedure won't happen for another year, because they needed the accutane out of my system. I was instantly irritated that I had taken off school for it, like I had to do almost every month for these useless visits, and my dad was upset because he was told that the procedure would be done that day and he had used a lot of his vacation days and time for these visits, including this one. Dad finally starts standing up for himself and I, pointing out the ridiculousness of the entire situation and the nurse immediately gets up and goes, "I'm not gonna be talked to this way" and walks out. Soon after, Dr Wood comes in saying, "you're gonna have to go, I will not allow you to treat my employees like this" and me and him leave and don't return. Acne can never really be cured, but that doesn't give anyone the right to use this unfortunate situation to their advantage and milk people's money and waste their time. read more

Yet, their website states cyst removal. So I went to family doctor and he was upset when I told him what happened. Family doctor did the removal and with minimal scarring from stitch. The office staff were very friendly. Wait time was minimal. Office overall appearance 5 stars. Very cleaned and nicely decorated. However, nothing could save the visit. This was my first and last visit to this office had the unfortunate pleasure of being seen by Katherine Bell. I'm not sure if She was too busy to actually listen to my concerns, not familiar with African American skin, or just didn't care. But, whatever the case maybe she thinks very highly of herself. So, highly she thinks she should only have to step in the patient room and leave out in order to bill. She did not complete a examination she half ass listened and basically said add Vaseline. She provided no useful information. At this age I don't believe I've had anyone who presence irked me as much as she did. After not providing any suggestions the Heffa had the nerve, audacity, gull to say let me know if it gets better. WHAT!! Is She serious?? I took my 12 year son who has a lot of acne and I had no expectations to see Dr.Bell. I called on a Thursday and they gave us an appointment the following week. I went in and waited for 10 mins. They greeted us with a smile. Dr.Bell listen to our concerns and gave us solutions and explained the treatment. We went over expectations and treatment. They even gave us coupon cards and samples to save on the prescription treatment and don't have to wait to start it. We didn't ask they just provided to us as a value to us. Then at checkout the lady scheduled our next appointment with a smile and was very courteous. I was very impress on the customer service because we felt cared for. I've been going to Kingwood Dermatology for several , primarily because it's close to home and in network with my insurance. The service is OK if you want to be rushed in and out of the office. It's pretty clear the doctors want to spend as little time with you as possible. I've seems several of the dermatologists and was so disappointed with Dr. Bell. I fought back tears in the exam room over the way she talked to me and acted as though my skin condition was no big deal. It IS a big deal to me! Her lack of empathy was so disconcerting. This is more than likely the BEST doctors office I have ever been too. The facility is very clean and decorated with modern decor. The doctor I see here is Dr. Greenberg. She is straight and to the point when ever you come in. I'm very pleased with her and the staff here. Not only did either of the two doctors I saw here refuse to prescribe birth control, (a major part of treating hormonal acne most of the time) but they also made it very obvious that their goal was to get me in and out of their office as soon as possible. They BOTH neglected to tell me how to use a retinoid correctly, even though I asked them specific questions about how to. This resulted in some serious sun damage on my skin, and a horrible breakout that's taken 15 weeks to heal. First, I will say I have never been to this office but I am searching for a competent Dermatologist. The reviews I have read are a bit unfair and ridiculous so I felt the need to respond. Second, it is unfortunate that a few patients have felt the physicians are not very personable as bedside manner can definitely increase the comfort level and trust you share with a provider. Having said that being nice or sociable has really no bearing on whether or not they are a good doctor. Third, someone called the Doctor a racist while providing absolutely no example of their so called racist behavior. Sounds like another snowflake slapping a label on someone simply because they didn't like them and intend to invalidate the person's professional credibility based off the the reviewer's own prejudicial attitude. People have bad days and get busy...if they don't stop to tell you how pretty you look or pat you on the back...it's not personal...they are just busy. But calling them a racist is very personal and judgmental. One comment even accused the Dr of "not liking" black or African American skin. Hmmm!!! Still provided no cause for them to come to that conclusion...just a reckless and irresponsible accusation. Otherwise, give me actual examples and not just your opinion. This is somebody's lively hood and you could negatively impact their life with dangerous statements such as that. Fourth, dermatologists determine the best course of treatment for your condition. They do this, like every other provider, thru clinical study and experience. Your treatment plan is not determined by you or you wouldn't need a Dr. and if you don't receive the particular treatment you wanted then there is probably a reason. Some treatments are considered "last" choice, little benefit or side effects out way benefit, other treatments have proven more beneficial, or the use of certain meds are off label. It is not the Dr's responsibility or obligation to push off label med usage especially when there are other alternatives. Specifically, you don't go to a Dermatologist and ask for birth control pills to control acne. That can be done through your general practitioner or PCP and should be discussed with them. If you are looking for acne control thru a Dermatologist you are stating that your acne is in a state where you are unable to manage it on your own and are looking for a physician to intercede. Most likely they are going to take precautions to ensure you get proper long term care and are able to manage the condition. If it was as simple as just taking birth control then you didn't need to go to a Dermatologist unless you are underage and attempting to circumvent the legal requirement for them to notify your parent or guardian. Having said all that, it does sound like this office needs to take a little more time to relate to the patient and make them feel like their concerns are important, even if the physicians don't agree. Other than that I have not read anything credible to cast doubt on this business's ability to provide the medical services that it advertises. As far as, the person's complaining about how something looks as it is healing. Skin always gets sore and looks terrible as it heals. Other parts of your body would look equally terrible if you were able to view it as it heals. Fortunately, most are internal so we are spared the experience. If you truly feel that something isn't healing correctly then go back and have it looked at. There may be other things going on but your Dr is most likely not the cause. Instead of posting it here and claiming you were treated incorrectly. Professional and definitive answers/diagnosis don't come from internet complaint boards. You need a Dr for that or just continue to suffer. Are you going to post a retraction if it heals with no complications after you called the alarm here? I bet not and that is why you should take more consideration before posting on these review boards. read more

I've been using Kingwood Dermatology for many years. I've seen Dr. Bell on several occasions and a few of the other doctors when she wasn't available. I have to say that everyone treated me very kindly, from the office staff to the nurses to the doctors. The doctors were all very patient and took their time with me. I give 2 stars only because my mother & I have both used this dermatology office now. I experience no problems with my visit, but I am also a normal healthy individual. My mother on the other hand can not say the same. Her health is not great so she needed to be treated a bit more carefully. My mother went in for skin tag removal last week. She health issues include being on blood thinners. The doctor and nurse both knew this. The nurse was the one to remove the skin tags. I'm not sure why the doctor didn't do it, but whatever. 8 hours after the seeming minor procedure my mother started bleeding from 4 of the removed skin tag sites. Bleeding profusely. She bled so much I had to take her to a 24hr minor emergency hospital. The doctor at the hospital was confused as to why the dermatologist didn't keep my mom for a bit of observation given her being on the blood thinners. The doctor at the hospital was also confused why the dermatologist would even perform the procedure without have the all clear from my mother's other doctor who put her on the blood thinners. So she suggested we make an immediate follow up with the dermatologist the next morning so they can recheck their own work. Now yes hind sight is 20/20 & maybe we should have thought of the blood thinner/possible bleeding issue ourselves, but then again we are not the medical professionals here. I personally have had numerous skin tags removed by another doctor without any kind of problem. So I know this is not the norm. Now when we called Kingwood Dermatology the next morning at 9am & told them what my mom had just gone through the night before the nurse who did the procedure got very defensive & would over talk both my mother & myself. The nurse flat out would not make room for my mother on that same day to be seen. She could've been seen during their out to lunch time, yes I know they need to eat too but still, or they could've made room for my mother to be seen after they close at 5pm. It wouldn't have taken long to just check her out. So, my mother, with all her medical issues & having bled as much as she did, had to wait 2 days to see the doctor. Will I go back there? I think not! The 2 star is a perfect rating because it expresses just how I feel with "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

Der Bell is very friendly and thorough. I have visited her several times over the last couple years. She found and removed several small skin cancers with both liquid nitrogen and scalpel.
