Heading back to good old Kingsgrove left me with plenty of good old memories. I used to attend high school in the area and I remember the girls would flock to this bakery shop curb every afternoon to wait for the bus. The bakery lady never seemed to mind us crowding there outside the shop, although I guess bringing in good business had something to do with it. I'm happy to say the bakery lady is still the same, and so is the shop in every way that counts. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in that she actually remembered me (considering I graduated quite a few years ago!)That's what makes a great local bakery, it's not that enticing buttery smell of the pastries (and pretzels) and fresh warm bread, but it that pleasant familiar feeling that will always bring me back. It's the little things that count.
If you do happen to pass by this small corner of town, I do recommend trying the pretzels they make here. Even better, they're only forty cents a-piece. I was introduced to them in high school by an old school mate of mine and they are definitely something delicious to munch on while waiting for that ever-elusive (school) bus. read more
