There are 2 or 3 different areas to eat but I found it very loud and no Sunday dinners anymore. Hubby and friend ate there said it was okay.

It was my last night in Sydney and of course, I couldn't leave one of the world's best cities without hitting up a rooftop bar. I am what you call a "rooftop bar junkie" during summers--a typical, slow night would see me taking bar-hopping to the next level: rooftop bar-hopping. I originally planned to visit a few rooftop bars in the city center and in Darlinghurst, but sadly, time never permitted. My friend and I had dinner in the area and we were headed home, when I mentioned that I wanted to visit at least one rooftop bar before my trip came to an end...and that's how we ended up at Kings Cross Hotel. It looks like your typical restaurant/bar from the outside, but I'm not too sure if many know about the rooftop bar upstairs. Super cute, relaxing place and I won't say that the view is fantastic because you won't see any of Sydney's famous landmarks or a panoramic view of the city, but you will see people breaking out a sweat at the gym in the building across (while you're just drinking away) and a decent view of the streets and the surrounding area. I had a Passionfruit Tommy's (passionfruit & tequila) and it was a refreshing drink and a little strong on the tequila--but I'm not complaining about that at all! read more

Love the view upstairs. This is probably my favorite bar in Sydney and one of the top two in all the places I've ever been to. If I wanted to enjoy myself and meet up with someone, this would be it. Ambiance was great: more intimate and with the ambery glow from the bar to the terrace from level one (level two for you Americans like me). It was all good vibes from others without being disturbed. If you wanted to meet new people: I say maybe the World's bar, but here: no. Downstairs is a whole different vibe: dark, no ambery glow. Didn't spend much time downstairs except to go up so I'm not going to dwell here.. But yeah I'd recommend their Lychee Mojito which is only avaiable in a pitcher (the other pitcher option is sangria and aside from that they have other cocktails and wines to choose from that aren't in pitchers) The Lychee Mojito consists of: Havana Club 3YO, vanilla, lime, lychee, mint, apple, soda And this is the ultimate bomb without being too girly. Huzzah I love the Kings X hotel its my local and I highly recommend it. Lets see we have good food for the most part although I did have a sunday roast where most of the lamb was actually fat the girl working the bars response was I didn't cook it. They sell some good beers recommend a Macs Hop Rocker for any pilsner fans not oftenyou see that on the bar here. Also feauture a beer of th month currently the Redback wheat beer $5 a schooy Different levels for different moods, if there is a big footy game on the ground floor bar feels great its nice and cool and reasonably dark so you don;t feel too bad for being drunk on a Saturday afternoon. The Mezzi level with its balony overlooking the Kings Cross is a great spot to people watch there's no view of the city as someone else claimed unless your on the top balcony level 5 and then you kinda have to peer over a wall. Level 5 is setup more towards cocktails and its a great spot you can see as far as the light house in Dover heights and sit watching the Fitness First freaks do star jumps all whilst enjoying a Mojito. You see different faces in here all the time there is a good mix of locals and of course the ever present Backpackers but its interesting to see, its a pub thats got everything even a live venue @FBI social, you get a DJ often on saturday nights on the Mezzi level read more

All I can say is that this pub pretty much takes after it's name sake. Basically it is full of backpackers and the type, and when I say full I usually mean pretty packed. In fact the few times that I have been here this has been the experience. The pub actually has a couple of levels, with a balcony overlooking the Coca-cola sign, and a VIP lounge downstairs. I usually make my way up onto the balcony since I find that that is the best part of the pub. Mind you, it really isn't the sort of place that I particularly like, and now that I have noted it I doubt I'll be returning. read more

A group of us attended for a 21st birthday. After 40 minutes we were "kicked out" as some of us were too intoxicated. After explaining to the staff that the people who were drunk had already left the venue, we asked if there are still any people here causing a problem. They said they were unable to identify. As a supervisor and manager in a hospitality venue I can appreciate wanting to make sure that your business is following the rules, but to deny a group that had placed a booking in advanced and were willing to spend good money when the remaining patrons were not inebriated doesn't seem like good business. Will not be coming here again, hopefully the staff can become more reasonable in the future. read more

Flwrgn are playing at the Kings Cross Hotel tonight and being an avid fan and wannabe groupie, I attend. I get there early and myself and a friend partake in the daily food special and I in the monthly beer. A chicken Schnitzel and Fat Yak for me. We find a seat and sit down, the place is full on a Thursday night and the FBI Social will be kicking of in forty minutes. The food arrives, $12 for a schnitzel, chips and coleslaw and $5 for the beer of the month, nobodies complaining. Well someone is, my fellow diner is certain the guy at the table next to us was given a much larger schnitzel, his proof, he couldn't finish it. We finish eating and head upstairs to level two where the show is about to start. The band take to the stage and twiddle knobs and tap buttons. They're an electronic indie band and their sound is rich and catchy. The crowd is warm and cheers are heard after each and every song. A few new songs are mingled into their set and the audience is appreciative. Next comes an electro singer who has the audience in stitches with his fawn like energy and wild dance moves topped off with deep singing voice and flavoursome guitar licks. His name is Swimwear and he has some truly bitchin' moves. The headliner, Voltaire Twins, are also very talented and it's an enjoyable night all round. The Fat Yak's keep on coming as we sit in this comfortable room, where the tables are old electric wire spools and the dim lights make for a moody venue. My one complaint for the Kings Cross Hotel is that there's no Fat Yak or Little Creatures on tap on level two so each round purchased must be purchased from downstairs. Stairs. Ah the Kings Cross Hotel. An establishment with 5 levels of different themed floors to suit any taste. Level 5 is the Roof top Bar area where it almost feels like a secret garden, They have $10 cocktails from 5-7pm! Levels 3 Disco & Level 4 Red room - open on Fridays & Saturdays and can be booked out for functions such as work xmas parties, birthdays etc etc. Level 2 - FBI Social is where you get all the live band experience. Level 1 - Balcony outdoor smoking area with large communal wooden Tables or tall tables with stools for your small group. The kitchen is located here as well. Ground level - Street bar has lots of tables to sit and enjoy your meals, however on Fri/Sat nights most of these seating areas is taken away to make room for the dance floor for the DJ that begins at around 10pm. Happy Hour 5-7pm on beers, house wine etc. Basement - Dive Bar - Open Thurs - Sunday - Booths and a shuffle board and buck hunter! They have food specials from Monday - Sunday (except Saturday). Tues Ribs $12 and Thurs Schnitz & Bits $12 are my fav days! This place can get busy on weekends so get in early to avoid a queue! read more

Awesome, on so many levels! (insert lame joke husky) What looks like an older historic hotel (which I believe it actually is) is really an amazing multi-story pub. Located in the epicenter of King's Cross, the KC Hotel is literally the hub for nightlife in KC. The train station is one or two blocks away. They views of the "coca cola sign" are great. You can also watch people workout in the condo across from the pub. If you take the staircase down you get to see some creative artwork made of mannequin busts on each level. Prices for drinks were about average here. The barstaff was pretty friendly, and there were multiple bars. This is definitely a place where people go to meet and hookup with one another. The main/top floor is half open to outside so people will be smoking. Get here early or you'll be waiting for a place to sit! read more

I've come here a couple of times over the years and it has always been a good experience, I've just gotten dinner and stayed on the first floor (Ground Floor) The BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich is very good and tasty, really messy though with lots of sauce dripping. The fries (Chips) are always nice as well. I usually order a Diet Coke and I don't think they get enough people ordering it as it always tastes spoiled, not run through the lines enough. The food is generally great here. However a vital component of any roast dinner are roast potatoes, the roasts here currently do not come served with potatoes of any kind. The burgers are always good here but arguably the best of the bunch, the pulled pork burger, has disappeared from the menu. read more

Decent atmosphere for a pub in the Cross, although I don't usually go during terrorist season (Fri/Sat night). Excellent tasty mid-priced pub grub with generally healthy sized portions. Nice semi-outdoors upstairs bar where (if you can get a seat) you can view the passing weirdlife. I think I used the pool tables once. The staff are for the most part polite and courteous if you don't act like an a-hole. They have a shared workspace for e-nomads apparently, haven't checked that though. Pokies mostly pay liked busted backsides but at least there's a place to smoke. And they fixed the damp smell. Another little alfresco spot out the front where you can invite beggars and people wanting to buy a cigarette but it is nice on a sunny day. I miss the days when it was a poorly lit crowded dive before the timber decking set in...but you can't have everything. read more

According to Yelp, I'm a "regular" here. How embarrassing for me. I guess it's time to write my review. I've been putting it off.... divided feelings on this place. What I like about Kings X: There is rarely a cover (except some Saturdays I think). You rarely have to queue very long (if at all) here. There are several levels with a variety of music. First floor is typically a live band, second floor has some background music, third is some doof doof, top floor is usually top 40/dance music. I think I skipped some floors, but you get the idea. Love the outdoor area off the second floor and top floor levels. What I don't like about Kings X: It can be trashy at times. You seem to notice this more when you're sober. It also attracts a bit of the backpacker crowd. When you DO have to queue or pay a cover it's the most annoying thing in the world. The outdoor area that I love, is also full of smokers. read more

I initially visited the Kings Cross Hotel when it first opened a year or two ago. We had seen various promotions on Facebook and decided to try out a new nightclub. There were plenty of floors and areas to explore, which was a plus, but perhaps the venue was too expansive and not crowded enough to have a great atmosphere. You also had to catch lifts between the different levels. The music was addictive- we had a good dance. However, the floor is made of thick glass, so the patrons on the level below can look up your dress! Unfortunately for me, I was wearing a dress at the time and had not been forewarned. I have not revisited the Kings Cross Hotel since, mainly because my experience was rather average. Perhaps this was attributed to opening night and lack of exposure. I'm not sure if the Kings Cross Hotel has had a make over since I was here last or it's just the fact that I'm here during the day but it looks different. And for the better I think! There's still a thousand levels to choose from. Ok about five plus the rooftop but today me and my companion decide to sit on the first level courtyard to watch the people go by below us while we have some lunch. I check out the food menu and wish it was Tuesday night as I would love the ribs and coleslaw which are on special that night but me and my companion decide to share stuff from the 'share stuff' section of the menu. Apart from that there's also a pretty good array of things to choose from like burgers, steaks, pasta and salads. On perusal of the drinks menu, I now wish it was Wednesday to Friday as it's cocktail happy hour on those nights but alas it's not so we just decide to grab a beer each. There's an elevator in case your stilettos simply won't let you walk up or down all of those stairs. If you're just after low key, slink into the pool bar complete with black leather booths - hidden downstairs on the way to the ladies... DJs throughout deliver beats for all ears. The top floor is open air and brings you face to face with the iconic coke sign. Be warned, the new and improved establishment sucks you in like a booze fuelled vortex and spits you out the other end. So close, yet so far. The Kings Cross Hotel has so much potential. The location is excellent and the outdoor bar overlooking the city is great. However, these positive attributes are quickly outweighed by the negative - The staff and the bazzillion stairs to get anywhere. Another thing, I noticed was that the price of drinks seems to increase as the night gets later. Perhaps its just inconsistency but the cynic in me starts to question. I have noticed a few bars have recently started using 'variable pricing' to curb "binge drinking" (or perhaps just increase margins!). Ate and drank on the 2nd level on a Monday night after my husband's rugby game. It became quite crowded during the 4 hours we were there. I had their pork quesadillas and a side of green beans with feta - after overspending on meals for days, I was delighted to get that much food for that price. I thoroughly enjoyed my food, however my husband's fish (n chips) was too fatty, couldn't even taste the fish. I reeked like cigarette smoke that night, but overall had a good time. read more
