    Good fish & chips
    Carrie U.

I randomly strolled into this Greenwich pub, where I was greeted with a flustered staff. After being told it would be 30 to 45 minutes to get my fish and chips, I parked myself in a corner and waited. The food came out in less than 10 minutes. I would much rather a restaurant tell me the food is going to be a while than keep me hanging on the other way around. Was the fish absolutely amazing? No. But was it pretty good? Yes. I was mostly distracted by a couple right next to me that was agressively whisper fighting in public to notice anything else.

Yummy! We were starving when we visited Kings Arm after a day of being tourists in London. The fish and chips were so delicious-so crispy and cooked to perfection! I also loved the grilled cheese; I think it had caramelized onions and a few different kinds of cheese. We ended the meal with some sticky toffee pudding-so much yum. We loved the vibe of the outdoor patio and all the eclectic decorations inside.

We left the Cafe Rouge around the corner and came here and couldn't have been more impressed. My wife had the Steak & Ale mash, my son had the kid's cheeseburger, and my daughter and I shared the Wing Wednesday special. It was delicious all around. I tried two different gin flights which were well-prepared. We also had the cake & coffee! The service along with the food were fantastic. The etiquette was to order at the bar, and the food would be brought to your table. I really need to compliment the service. I have really been disappointed with some of the service we received in the city with a few restaurants, but this location really impressed us. We'll be coming back.

Fish & chips were good. Service was decent. Wife said fish was a tad bit greasy bit then then again she'd complain if I hung her with a new rope.

Six of us enjoyed our morning and early afternoon of sightseeing in Greenwich. We were hungry for lunch so I pulled out my list of restaurants and found one near where we were at the time. The Kings Arms is a popular and traditional pub with a pretty outdoor patio that sits among a green garden. The place serves typical pub food from burgers to salads to a good variety of main dishes to puddings. I had the fish (haddock) and chips with bread and mushy peas (£8.45); Tony had beef and Abbot ale pie w/ green beans and carrots and a side of braised red cabbage (£9.45). Service was very slow, although we hit the pub at lunch time. Overall, a decent place to eat in a traditional pub. This is a good place if you don't plan to have a quick meal.

While you can hang out in the crowd and grab a pint easily without that, if you want to dine in the quieter dining area with views of the water you may want to do so as well. Especially if you want the elbow room to enjoy such great food. The Mayflower is named after the famous ship carrying the early American settlers, and the church tied to this voyage is steps away where apparently an unmarked grave hosts the resting spot of the captain of that ship. It's candlelit and kind of romantic on the top floor with great views. For food, my wife had the chicken pie and I had the special of the day, lamb stew with housemade potato salad. It was warm, flavorful and delicious, sentiments my wife shared on the pot pie. We split an order of mac and cheese, and it was also delicious. Such great comfort food. I had a small scotch pour and an ale, my wife a glass of wine. I had a small port to pair with the sticky toffee pudding at the end which was terrific. My wife swears by Gordon Ramsey's recipe of the same but this one was hard to beat IMO.

We ordered onion rings to start, the breading on them was amazing! It was light and crispy as opposed to being heavy and greasy like a lot of onion rings. I also loved the curry ketchup that came with them. I'm not generally a curry fan, but it definitely worked with this dish. My husband got fish and chips. The fish was perfectly fried and the tarter sauce was obviously house made because it tasted very fresh and lemony. The chips were fine, but unremarkable in my opinion. For my meal, I ordered pumpkin walnut gnocchi. It was delicious! Just enough pumpkin without being overpowering. There was quite a bit of kale (I think it was kale, the menu didn't say) that came with the dish. It was very good, but probably could have been dialed back a little. The service was friendly and prompt. Definitely a great way to start our London vacation!

The establishment has a nice mixture of cozy and airy, which was perfect for a lazy(ish) Sunday. I hate to use this word, but I'll use it anyway (because I can't think of a better descriptor): the service here is "super" friendly, and very knowledgeable, particularly regarding the ales on tap. The barkeep gave us a few sample pours without waiting for us to ask, which we greatly appreciated. Because of that, we were more than happy with the pints we ordered. Moving on to the food: the roasts were delicious, in particular the pork loin, which was moist and flavorful. I enjoyed my roast beef as well. The Yorkshire pudding was wonderful and I might have been just as happy eating that alone for my meal, to be honest. The pub is in walking distance of the touristy areas of Greenwich, so it's easy enough to put some good food in your belly and continue on to your sightseeing, afterward.
