Fish & Chips.........
Traditional Fish & Chips. How can it be to find a traditional Fish & Chips shop.
While patrolling Manchester i have sampled lots of so called "Traditional Fish & Chips Shops" but the only one that i've ever loved was Armstrongs in Prestwich or Shaw..... Both are to far out of my reach.
So one day while going through the picturesque area of Newton Heath i came across "Kingfishers"
Walking in, it doesn't hit you with the look of a new establishment. It looked a little grotty but sometimes that can be good as you know its been here for a while.
There is a take out side & a seating side. The seating side just seems to be full of people of an older generation. Again which is good as they know what traditional should taste like.
So i've only ordered one item of the menu but its a chippy & a traditional one at that so it has everything a chippy in the NW of England should have.
Theres no fancy whitby batter here. Just straight up proper fish chips.
The cod has taste, the batter soaked up the vinegar just right, the chips are lovely & the peas where mushy what else could i ask for.
Staff are friendly.
Its now my number 1 place to go for Fish & Chips when at work ! read more
