From someone who has been a part of the kickboxing and Muay-Thai community in Albuquerque since the…read morelate 80's, Invictus has been by far one of the of my favorite places to train. Coach Rick and Edgar are very knowledgeable and technical and you are welcomed into a ego free environment as soon as you step through the door. Everyone who I have come in contact with has been kind, friendly and willing to learn and share knowledge, rather it be jiu-jitsu practitioners or veterans of stand up, all are phenomenal people. I can't thank Rick enough for always welcoming me into his facility. I recommend Invictus to absolutely anyone thinking about learning martial arts.

I do not have enough room to describe how grateful I am for Invictus BJJ. These guys have been…read moreincredibly hospitable and have done a tremendous job creating an atmosphere/culture that anyone would want to be a part of. Equally important: the training and instruction are excellent. I spent a week in town for work and reached out to them before I came down. They welcomed me into the academy and insisted on no drop-in fees for me because I was a visitor. ZERO. No one treated me any differently than regular members despite being a visitor. The instructors took time to answer my questions and even helped me catch up on the things I wasn't around for the week prior. Everyone in the gym was approachable, regardless of belt-color, achievements, etc. Rick, presumably one of the owners, even invited another visitor and I out for the gym's regular weekly social hour after training one evening. The instruction and class structure are great. They say drillers make killers. We had plenty of time to drill the techniques we worked on during class. The professor was present and available for questions/clarification. I especially appreciated the common thread that ran through the training each night of the week. There is clearly some sort of common curriculum. This is different from some gyms I've trained at where classes may be put together haphazardly without rhyme or reason. Everything I had the opportunity to train on at Invictus was complimentary. There was plenty of time to free roll after drilling as well. This is a great place for all levels, including new white belts like me.

I can't say enough about Emily, she is a true healer. I've had terrible back pain for a number of…read moreyears, including a tough little ball between my shoulder blades. I've been working at a computer for 8-10 hours a day, for many years. The first time I saw Emily my issues all practically disappeared. Then of course they came back after a few weeks. This is going to happen if you don't change your habits. I went to see Emily and again my issues were relieved. Emily recommended changes in my posture and yoga poses I could do. She is also a certified yoga teacher! She also was able to explain my issues to me pointing to specific muscles, their connections, specific points of tension and were they arise from, as well as certain psychological and energetic blocks. She helped my get to the root of my problems and to change the underlying causes. I saw her another 2 times about two months apart, and then now I see her every 6-8 months, and my back pain and that tough little ball are gone! I've had a lot of Thai massage including many in Thailand, and I have to say Emily is up their with the best of them. I almost exclusively get Thai massages, because regular oil massages never feel like they are getting to the issues. Thai massage is a true medicinal, and spiritual, practice with a very long tradition. The sessions are normally 2 hours, which some people might think is too long, but once you are in there and you feel Emily hit every single problem spot in your body, time disappears. Be aware that the first massage can be intense and you might feel a little queasy afterwards. A lot of toxins get released from tense muscles as they are relaxed. Drink lots of water!

I've been seeing Emily for 6 years now regularly; I consider her the first stop for my healthcare…read more Her work is focused, intentional, and specific each time I see her. We work on "what's up" and I always go away feeling lighter, looser, more together. Emily is energy savvy - intuitive and knowing while connecting to your needs. As a practitioner of Thai massage, I can't say enough about her skill set and knowledge. She's studied in Thailand directly with some of the most empowered teachers and it shows. She is constantly learning and bringing more knowledge and care to the mat. Emily is truly the best I've ever experienced in this modality. Whether you're in Santa Fe for a visit or you live here - schedule and appointment with Emily. . . truly it is an act of self love.
