This is an amazing veterinary clinic. They've always treated us and our dogs incredibly well. We recently had to say goodbye to one of our dogs shortly after his 18th birthday. I can't say how much I appreciate the amount of patience and respect we were treated with in that moment. It truly meant the world to us. We still take our other dogs here and would never consider taking them anywhere else. I have recommended these folks to others who have taken their pets here as well and I've always received amazing feedback from those folks. I truly cannot recommend this place enough and feel confident in saying you're gonna be pretty hard pressed to find a better vet and supporting staff that will treat you and your pets better. Front desk customer service has gone completely downhill and so we won't take our pets there any longer. One woman is particularly rude, and they will put you on hold without letting you get a word in. Sat on hold for 15 minutes for the last time, I'm going to go somewhere else now. Do not take your French Bulldogs here. They are inexperienced with this breed. My dog had a c-section and declined shortly after. After multiple visits, they still could not tell us what the problem was only masking it with different medications. Instead of telling us what the problem was and that they were going to fix it, they just told us that they would spay her and that would fix the problem. Took her to another Vet and was given the exact problem and what went wrong. It could've been fixed if they have just told us what the problem was. In my opinion, they do not know what they are doing with this particular breed of dog. And the others are not lying about the rudeness of the front desk sometimes. I give the same amount of attitude you give me. We were terminated as clients because of our displeasure with the answers we were given. They also don't like you to ask too many questions. read more

I love this vet clinic they are so extremely nice to all my animals and so helpful. I recently had to say goodbye to my cat and they were absolutely amazing. Not only were they super understanding and let me take as much time as I needed. They also let me decide when it was time to say goodbye. They were so very kind and let me hand my baby to them so that I wouldn't have to let him on the table. I paid to get my baby's ashes back but also sent me a signed card from everyone who works there with 4 individually done paw prints of my baby. I believe they would have done that regardless if I paid to get the ashes back or not because they are so kind at this vet. My family has other dogs and another cat and I know we will always drive to bring them here. We live about 30 minutes away and it is always worth the drive because of how amazing all of the staff is! I would give this business a ZERO if I could. The customer service is HORRIBLE!! DON'T USE THEM! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FUR BABY!! I called to find out about bringing my dog in to be checked after he swallowed a piece to a kitchen appliance. After explaining the whole situation in detail I was put on hold. Someone else picked up (rude Asley) to tell my story again and I was put on hold again. I held for quite a while only to have the same thing repeated. Really, I've got to keep explaining this? The excuse they're busy on Monday mornings. So I guess my dog's issue is only important when they're not busy. Long story short Ashley told me I should call someone else. I Do not recommend them to groom your dog! I wish they had no stars because thats what I would've given them. I discussed in detail how I wanted my dogs cut to the groomer and they came out scalped. I told him I wanted a teddy bear cut and not too short because its winter and he didn't listen. He also cut all the hair off their tails. Who does this?? Also, the short cut isn't even. I really like Dr Means , he is a great vet but the day I scheduled a visit, my dog was seen by the female(Ms.Cochran) vet at King Animal Clinic. I did not have a good experience with her, she called my dog a mutt, she was not pleasant and told me I should rehome my dog. Who says that to a patient? Her bedside manner is terrible. We had requested a few years back not to be placed with her, but this visit was with a new member to our family. We have been taking our dogs to this vet since 2016. They sent me a survey via email, not for the public to see and after having a bad experience, I gave them the honest truth. On the survey I only mentioned 3 thigs out of many more issues that happened that day. I guess they decided that the truth hurt, and they sent our dogs health records to us by mail and stated, termination of client due to their unsatisfaction. They did us a favor. The place is filthy and they assume you want to buy their expensive medication, without asking first, if you want to buy the medication outright or have sent to a more affordable place. The prescription was more than the visit. I asked for a refund for the prescription charge, so I could send the prescription to Chewy.com They offered me credit for next visit. why would I want credit to the facility after being treated so disrespectfully. You have the right to get your prescription filled anywhere, you do not have to purchase the vet's medication. Chewy.com is cheaper than any vet's office. They sent me a survey and did not like the truth, then why send a survey? Usually it is to improve your business, why not call your client and ask what they can do to make the experience better? I guess this is the way they do business. I'm shocked in their actions, for a small business. We were thinking about changing vet's anyway, so this is OK, I have been to other vet facilities with friends and those places are much cleaner and friendlier. We did contact the facility to ask why they made such a rash decision and were told that Dr Means made this decision due to our unsatisfactory survey. Believe it or not, this is a Yorkie! Nice clinic, good vet but DO NOT recommend groomer. He scalped the dog. There are summer cuts like Teddy Bear and other cuts which are cute, but this guy scalped him. In addition the scut wasn't even. I wish I could separate the stars because the vet is great. Dr.means has taken care of four of my dogs Since I started going to him in 2015. When I had moved to Princeton. We were having some black ice and nobody was open. My little Yorky had become very lethargic and I thought I was gonna lose her. I called there and they stayed open waiting while I brought her in. They kept her for three days on IVs, and brought her back. She was a diabetic and they helped me throughout that. They have been there through my other dogs whenever I needed something right away they always squeezed me in and took care of them. If I left messages after hours they always called me with in a timely manner. Very caring and explain everything in great detail. Was never left in the dark. I love this vet and all of the staff as well! Very knowledgeable and caring. read more

My family, which includes 2 dogs, just moved to the McKinney area at the end of April. My Great Dane Pup was due for his last set of shots and rabies vaccination. After calling around to every vet and checking YELP (of course), I ended up at King Animal Clinic. This office does have a more laid back/country vibe which I am all for. Made me feel right at home. There is a small play area for children, which I find helpful because I have had to bring along the kids this summer. Their prices are the best in the area and they are very fair with their practices... Once I had to come back the next day for something that came up over night and I was not charged for an additional office visit. I have been in more than I'd like to admit (my dogs developed allergies once we moved up here and then got sick from a dog park) but I have never felt like I was a bother or paid more than I thought was worth their services. It almost feels like I'm getting over on THEM when I leave. Lol. I have met everyone on the staff and they are all personable, relatable folks. I've joked around with them, held conversations about our kids and dogs and never had a negative interaction. They are genuinely concerned about whatever I am concerned about, even if it's finances at the moment. I have referred anyone who will listen here and will continue to do so. My old vet that I had been using since 2002 had some big shoes to fill, so job well done Dr. Means and staff! read more

Here's the thing. I love my dog. I'm kind of obsessed with my dog. She's my child, since we don't have any kids of the human variety. I've been to pet resorts who get this attitude, I've been to Petsmart, and THEY get this attitude. What I can't understand are vets who DON'T get this attitude. The receptionist/ vet tech at this clinic is quite horrid. She's not personable, she treats you like you're an inconvenience and is really nasty on the phone. The vet (we've only seen Robert Means) is okay, but really doesn't make you feel like your pet is anything special. And to me, she is special- she's my world. He did his job, just didn't seem very excited to do it... When I asked about a rattlesnake vaccination, the vet looked at me like I was crazy. When I explained that we frequently visit places where a rattlesnake bite is a real possibility, he told me he didn't know anything about it. Period. Well, okay, but as my vet, should you maybe look into it and let me know your personal opinion on whether my dog should have this vaccination? They just don't go above and beyond, and to me, that's not cool. read more

I am writing this review because I have been taking all of my babies here for as long as I've had dogs as part of my family. I have to say I used to go to a different vet when I first moved here because the vet genuinely cared about my dogs. Well that changed as the vet got older and I understood that. So I went looking for another vet and found Kings vet clinic. I am very cautious on who I take my pups to as I want someone who genuinely cares for animals. Kings is definitely that place. When I had my Alaskan malamutes they were always excited to go visit the vet because when they'd stay there they'd get the works. Bathed, nails trimmed, they were pampered. The babies I have now are very temperamental and don't necessarily like vets, but Kings vet always makes sure to reinforce their assurance that they are there to help them not hurt them. I love this vet and anytime someone is looking for a new vet I refer them to Kings vet. Thank you to all the vet techs and Dr. Means. You guys are awesome. read more

Super friendly staff that never tries to sell you on anything or convince you that there is something wrong that isn't. Been bringing our cat here for years for their low cost shot/clinic days, and brought a new rescue dog (a ~ 1 year old chihuahua) for a checkup after adoption. I normally hold vets in the same regard as insurance salesmen, pharmaceutical reps and anyone who writes commercials that are geared to convince you that your children are going to die if you don't buy their product. King is different. He was given a clean bill of health and only was prescribed the meds we thought he would be (flee and worm), and they were discounted lower than I thought. The visit fee was very reasonable as well. They laughed off the fact that in his excitement he pooped in the reception area. :) read more

Not happy with one of the front desk, my 12 years old daughter also felt the same thing.I didn't get the person's name, She is not warm, cold with customers. My dog got cut when they groom her, they knew it but didn't tell us. I notice it when she got back home, she is limping and felt so sad! Didn't clean the hair on her ears! I've used King Vet Clinic for over 6 years. It's not like a big city corporate vet clinic (VCA), It's more like a country vets office. The personnel are stable. I've seen the same vets for 6 years. The same receptionist for 6 years. The same vet tec for 6 years.Allright, there have been two groomers over 6 years. My experience is completely different than the first to rate the clinic. I think I found my vet. What a huge difference with King than what I experienced just a few days ago. My dog has become extremely ill and I tried to get her into another vets office and they were so slow although she was clearly sick and were giving priority to the scheduled visits. I understand this when people walk in just to get shots or something but when you call because you think your dog ingested something toxic and they tell you to bring them in, you shouldn't let them sit. You should take emergencies quickly if no other reason to assess them and send to the ER. Anyway, So this morning, I called King after I picked up my dog from the hospital to do a follow up visit. They got her right in, they were so thorough with her records, checking over her, etc... and friendly to talk to. Then after all that, the bill was so reasonable, I think I gave her a look of shock. I left feeling like my dog got the best care and after a 3 day hospital stay, it was so refreshing to have a small bill. read more
