He was always a jerk, but I eventually saw his PA who was wonderful although kind of an airhead but I at least got the pain management I needed for my chronic illness/pain (Ehlers danlos syndrome). Thanks to the treatment they provided, I was able to get through life for many years. Trust me, without those pain meds, there are plenty of days I wouldn't have shown up to family functions or even to my job. However, all of that has changed now. Ever since this group took over and it's become interventional pain management, you don't even see the doctors anymore. They took me off of basically every medication I was on, switched me to much weaker stuff, and I've been in agony for the last several years. You only get to see the nurse practitioners, who frankly are so overloaded with patients that every time you go in there, they have no idea who you are. They never remembered me, even though I've been going there for years. the first nurse practitioner they put me with left the practice, but I would see K. Varner most of the time. She at least seemed to recollect me and was kind and genuine, albeit a little unknowledgeable about my illness. All the 'treatments' they ever tried with me failed, in fact they insisted I try a nerve ablation for my back pain several times and each time they did it, they screwed it up and my back turned out worse and I was in even more pain afterwards. That's extremely infuriating because that's several days I had to take off of work, that's inconveniencing friends and family who had to drive me home from the appointment because I couldn't do all of that for nothing, in fact all of that just to feel worse frankly because I think the doctors practicing there are all quacks and are incompetent and don't actually know what they're doing. I've seen it all the time across my career. More doctors are incompetent than are actually competent. (please do REAL research before you see any practitioner.) Then we get to the most evil healthcare worker I've ever met. Hanifa waarith. Listen... I work in healthcare myself. For a long time. I have also worked in customer service. I know how you're supposed to talk to people, especially those you care for. This woman is an egotistical narcissist who gets off on the fact that she's got power over you. The cold evil look in her eyes is genuinely frightening. But all of a sudden today, she decided to fire me as a patient for absolutely no reason and kick me out of the practice for good, and she seemed to be getting off on the fact that I was getting upset. I wanted to wipe that smirk clean off her face. She was so smug and arrogant and frankly, it's a relief I never have to see her ugly mug again. Frankly I already knew this was coming because of the way she treated me last time, which was exactly the same just not as bad; Arrogant, rude and condescending. Back to me being fired as a patient... Apparently, this is due to the fact that they are no longer treating chronic pain. Oh really?? Thanks for never ever communicating that! Ever! This place is a joke. Frankly I'm going to report her to the board because she shouldn't be taking care of anybody. Her treatment of me was completely unprofessional, unprovoked and she did not have to be so completely condescending and rude to me. I don't know what that woman's problem is, but she decided she hated me from the moment she laid eyes on me. She wanted confrontation from the moment she walked in. I'm a chronic pain patient. I've been getting treatment for 10 years, and I will likely need it for the rest of my life. I didn't deserve to be treated like that. She talked down to me like I was a kindergartener, or like a dog. I sobbed all the way home. And now I'm left with no pain management. Stay away from this place. If you want real pain management, try a real doctor in Chicago. Methodist in general is just a joke, and they are partnered with them.
