This Aldi is much better than the one in El Centro. Vegetables and fruits were fresh and plentiful, very nice looking meat and lots of product in the clearance/miscellaneous aisle. The checkers are very friendly and polite. As with anything in Calexico it will be much easier to interact and ask questions if you are speaking Spanish. For English only speakers there is usually someone around who can assist. Very nice store!

GREEN ASPARAGUS: I buy them at our local Costco. The bag is 2.25 lbs. and costs around $8, a good deal compared to smaller grocery stores. The spears are also on the skinner-side which I prefer, meaning they came from young plants. When preparing them, most people break off the bottoms at their weakest point but I prefer them cut exactly at the halfway point because anything below that is too hard and tough, IMO. Aside from the boring steamed variety, I like to stir fry them (especially with fresh baby bellas) with fresh garlic, garlic salt, pepper and oyster sauce. It makes an excellent side dish or vegetarian meal in itself. OVERALL: Fresh and delicious!

Waiters grilled the steak appetizer over open flame at the table, along with 5 other appetizers. Everything was way too salty, including the seafood ceviche. I ordered Mochomos signature rib eye medium rare. It came burned on one side and undercooked on the other. I like my food salty but knowing Mochomos' reputation I told the waiter 3 times, NO SALT, the steak still came VERY VERY HEAVILY SALTED, way above my tolerance, also had way too much grisles like cheap meats that I could not cut into with a steak knife, had to leave half. Mochomos' steak was just inedible. In contrary I always eat to the last bite at Morton, Black Angus, Ruth Chris ect. 3 bottles of wines costed about $65 each. The Chile's Cabernet Sauvignon smelled rotten with sulfur odors, like cheap California's $2 wines, tasted unpleasant. Local wine from Guadalupe Valley was tastier, fuller body, without malodor. The French bottle was weak and sour, not very good. Salt and pepper shakers are on the table, why oversalting their food? Mexicans do not have natural salty taste, but some restaurants in Mexico ridiculously oversalt their dishes to make clients thirsty and buy more drinks. I have seen this dishonest business in a number of fancy chains in Mexico. They have no care, no respect for their clients' tastes or health!
