I have two children, 8 and 5 yo, enrolled in King Khong MMA and been extremely happy with how the program is run. The classes instill discipline and confidence in the children. They learned of a lot of Jiu Jitsu skills and actively practice the moves in class to progress. Master Bao along with assistant Master Zezao and Leo help provide direction and positive atmosphere. Happy to recommend to anyone as a parent. read more

This is a gym I love to come to at least 2-3 times a week. Coach Bao (owner) created a family oriented environment where we can come and sweat our tails off. King Kong MMA pushes you physically and mentally every time you step foot in the door. Learning self defense is a vital skill to own. It keeps you in shape but not only that, you stand a better chance protecting you and your loved ones. I've tried other MMA gyms in the area but they don't compare to king Khong. The instructors are 100% attentive & they even train you to fight competitively! The gym is clean (super important) Life feels so much more exciting now that this is a part of my life ! read more

I've been taking Muay Thai classes with Master Bao, and I HIGHLY recommend it! I knew nothing about Muay Thai before starting, but I've learned a lot in a short time. Master Bao is incredibly professional, yet approachable and friendly, and made me feel comfortable right away. The gym is clean and has a great atmosphere. Master Bao gives clear instructions and makes sure I'm improving my skills with each class. If you're looking to learn Muay Thai in a supportive environment, this is the place to be! read more

I have never taken Martial Arts classes until this year when I wanted to try a new sport that has high intensity. That's when I found Muay Thai and I am so grateful to have found Master Bao's studio. He offers an initial class free of charge so that you're able to decide if you like it or not. I liked it nearly immediately because of the atmosphere, cleanliness, and lessons! It has been about 8 months since my first class, and I have begun to understand the discipline and fun behind martial arts. I started sparring in the beginner sparring sessions this week and it is so fun... I can't wait to continue doing it! When being in the studio, all of the stress from the day goes away and you just focus on fighting and having fun with friends. It helps when you have an incredibly friendly community on top of that! Master Bao enables the community to maintain respect and a positive atmosphere which is super important. Can't wait to continue on with the Muay Thai journey! read more

I was asking for info, for adults getting back into the gym and taking a different approach to lose weight and challenging the mind. What's their availability leading up to Summer and was better to join after Summer. The person I talked with had a good rapport and easy to understand. I will see about my new schedule and let them know. read more

In my 40s, I've tested out a variety of boxing, kickboxing, and martial art gyms in the area. So glad I found King Khong MMA and joined their Muay Thai classes. It was a complete life changer in the best way. The gym is by far the most welcoming and best instruction I've ever experienced. read more

Ahhhh so many good things to say about this spot, where would I even begin? Let's start with Master Bao, a genuine, amazing, talented, and overall star of a human being. His teaching method is so easy to understand and you can definitely tell he cares. He's so ethical and fair and genuinely wants the best for everyone. Not enough words could encompass how stellar he is as a person and as an instructor. Secondly the students?! Wow. Everyone is so welcoming and sweet. It's like a legit mini family once you step in. Three the place maintains its cleanliness all the time. I've been to certain MMA gyms that smell like a boys locker room, but never once at this place. They hold cleanliness to a high regard. I definitely recommend this place, you would never regret it and you see results as long as you are consistent! read more

I stumbled across this school a while back as I was searching for a place to learn Muay Thai and tried out a free class with no experience whatsoever. In one hour, I was beat but it was the most fun and educational workout I have ever done so I decided to continue to take classes. The main instructor, Bao, is great at demonstrating techniques in the smallest detail and explaining how/why we should move our bodies in certain ways when in a real fight. The classes are small enough so that you can get good feedback from him and ask any questions you may have. He encourages you to push yourself hard but not in a way that will kill your spirit either. Besides the great instructors, the atmosphere is very welcoming and the other students are all friendly and willing to help their peers improve themselves, regardless of their experience level. After several months of taking classes, I feel like I have come a long way since that first class. I have learned a ton and my punches and kicks are much better. With the conditioning we do as well, I feel stronger and my physical health has greatly improved. I'm not as sore after every class anymore! I truly enjoy the classes at this school and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn Muay Thai in a fun and positive environment. read more

We love King Khong MMA! Master Bao is so great with kids. He has a wonderful balance of fun, kindness, and discipline with them. Our son not only has strengthened physically as well as mentally, learning MMA moves has also protected him. He accidentally slipped near the pool, and because he learned the safe technique for falling, it kicked in instinctively and saved him from hurting his head. Having had our child do Tae Kwon Do with two other dojos, King Khong is definitely the best! read more

To Start, we have been with KKMMA for nearly 4-years and we look at Master Bao as an uncle in our family. That is how KKMMA makes you feel when you train there. We moved to Ashburn and still fight traffic for over an hour, 4-days a week, to attend class. I have trained in various places throughout my lifetime and we have searched Loudoun high and low. There is not another school that can replace KKMMA for its atmosphere and instruction - and believe me, i wish there was! The drive SUCKS! But seriously, Master Bao and his team are truly gifted and take great care to keep the training environment fun, dynamic, and safe. Do yourself a favor and check them out. read more

Never formally studying a martial arts before, I researched different schools in the DMV area and took a few trial classes at different locations. I can confidently say that King Khong MMA is an excellent school to learn a variety of martial arts--no matter if you have prior experience, or are starting as a beginner in her late 20s like me. Under Master Bao's guidance and leadership, I look forward to attending class and learning more each time. What makes King Khong MMA different and unique in the best way, in my opinion, is the welcoming and warm environment of coaches and students. I genuinely leave in a much happier mood and am more confident after each class, that feeling hasn't gone away after 6 months! If you're thinking about taking a trial class and seeing for yourself how amazing of a school this is, I promise you won't regret it! read more

We tried a few other local Tai Kwan Do places for our kids, but they were really just day care places with a little karate thrown in for fun. If that's what you want, avoid VAMAI. If you want your kids to actually learn tai Kwan do and the discipline that goes with it, this is the place. Master T and her team are the real deal. They take discipline seriously and really hold the kids to a legitimate standard. Both of my kids love classes there and I feel they are really learning something. It takes longer to progress in belts, but that's because they really *earn* them. I really can't speak highly enough about VAMAI. The staff is great with the kids and are genuinely nice people who love what they do. It's apparent from the minute you walk in the door. read more

We were referred to King Kong MMA from a good friend and at first I was a little skeptical how well someone could actually teach or even keep my sons attention (4 years old) . We are starting our second month and he has never been so excited to go to any activity like he is with Mr Bao's. Class. The instructor is super patient and is wonderful with our son. I love that he is not only learning martial arts but also to respect others. Highly recommend this school. read more

Bao is one of the best instructors in the area hands down. he is a great technical instructor if you're looking to hone your skills in striking and grappling or have a fight career. The environment is friendly and everyone is welcoming. And For those just looking for a workout and networking with others it's a great place. You will work muscles you never knew existed. Great beginners, kids and advanced programs. Highly recommend read more

Before I came here, I always had trouble finding the motivation to work out. Now I look forward to working up a sweat each week! I'm leaner, stronger, quicker, and in far better health than a year ago. The instructors work you hard but don't push you beyond what you can handle. More than that, you can tell that every instructor wants to be there and help you. I love this place and am so grateful for everything I have learned. I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat! read more

I checked out every Muay Thai gym within in a 20 mile radius before ending up at King Khong MMA. I've been here for four(ish) months and have absolutely no doubt that I picked the right gym. Master Bao has and excellent eye for correcting form and demonstrating technique. He's not just pushing you to work hard and providing a great workout, more importantly he's making sure you are doing it with good form rather than letting you develop bad habits. In the time I've been here he's added on to his teaching staff to provide their own expertise and brought in guest coaches. From coaches to students, everyone here is friendly and encouraging. No doubt this place is bringing out my best. read more

I can't say enough great things about Master Bao and his crew. My son started in his Little King Khongs program (ages 3-5), and he was a bit shy for the first two classes. Master Bao is such an understanding and great instructor that he allows parents on the floor with their child/ children until the child is comfortable. He makes it easy because Master Bao slowly integrates them into class seamlessly that the child just starts to join in while the parent can slip to the back of the room. It's been a month, and there has been a huge change in my child's confidence and skills. Bring your kid to King Khong MMA formerly VAMAI. read more

Master Bao is amazing with the kids and is a positive influence on everyone. Highly recommend this dojo.

Excellent place with the best instructors. Quality training, the best you will find in the area. They have a program for every one and a variation of kids program. Only real muay Thai place in the area with a real Muay Thai fighter as an instructor. read more

I heard that they used to have a very good instructor who left a few years ago. Now its all about the money. If you dont mind paying $250 a month to be taught by an 18 year old then perhaps this place is for you. Then they have those useless tests where they charge you 50 bucks and give you a new belt to make you feel good. The place is extremely small also, no seriously. This review is for adults only. The kids seem to have a good time and it gets them tired and everything. If their fee was reasonable (something like a $100) I would perhaps have given them 3 or 4 stars. But they charge as if its a high end tae kwon do gym which it is NOT. You don't go to Ray's the Steaks and expect a McDonald burger on your plate. I left after my contract was over. BTW the staff is very nice and everybody is very friendly. read more

As the father of young twin boys, I enthusiastically recommend VAMAI to parents of small children considering martial arts. The instructors, led by Master T, provide solid instruction in fundamentals with strong emphasis on discipline, self-control, integrity, and perseverance. Other reviews note that VAMAI is a family; this is absolutely true. The dojo provides a very real sense of community, most visible during belt ceremonies when parents and friends watch with pride as hard work is rewarded. Five stars. read more

About a year and a half ago, I decided to enroll my children in an activity that taught them discipline, focus, balance and strength. After searching a few more days, I found VAMAI. Skilled and decorated instructors that are warm, caring, yet stern and respected. My children love coming here to work out, learn and make friends. VAMAI is very family oriented as well. Its my home away from home. I have recently become a proud member of VAMAI along with my two children and I love it. read more
