On Friday or Saturday, it's common to have to wait an extra 30-45 minutes in line to purchase expensive snacks. Why on earth would they not staff two extra tills on the weekend to accommodate their clientele??!!!?

While the state of this theatre is a far cry from what it was back when it was still Silver City,…read morethe theatre itself still holds up. There's loads of free parking, the snacks are tasty (and I like that you can fill your own cup since their machines have so many flavours - like seven flavours of Coke, etc), the lineups at the concession always move fast, and the seats (even the non-premium) ones are still comfortable and well-maintained. Even the washrooms always seem to be in good condition. The theatre in many ways is still a bit outdated, but in a time when movie theatres seem to be struggling a bit, I'm glad to see this one has managed to maintain it's upkeep as well as it has.

2026-08-10. Peace Bridge, Calgary, AB…read more Unfortunately the riverwalk is under repair and enhancement so that we were only able to access the one side and the angles were not optimal. So we ended up making the best of the bridge and had some fun since it was pretty deserted at 03:00. There's no overnight parking allowed on the streets but we chanced it and gambled on no enforcement and we lucked out. Like Rotary Park, you can get some good views of the Calgary skyline from the base of the bridge with a different viewpoint; especially the SW side where it doesn't look like much from the Rotary Park Lookout Point. A cool bridge with some photo ops. Angles will definitely be better once the construction is completed. If you would like to experience more come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company. Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. In person, it was much nicer and cleaner. Every section of the library was sparkling clean and clearly maintained well. There are 4 stories with computers, meeting rooms, tables, coffee shop, art installations, children's area, etc. They definitely made it so there are plenty of resources available for whatever you may need. The only downfall I can think of is that the library has quite a bit of drugged up people in there as well as right outside and some of them causing a scene or clearly making others uncomfortable. I understand it's a public facility but it's still a negative aspect about the library.

We enjoyed our pancake breakfast here and also watching the Clydesdales fill the Avenue.

OK PEDESTRIAN PROMENADE…read more Stephen Ave Walk is a pedestrian promenade that extends a few blocks along 8th Ave in downtown Calgary near the Calgary Tower. We later learned that the Walk was named after George Stephen, the first president of the Canadian Pacific Railway. We found Stephen Ave Walk a bit underwhelming. It reminded us of Pearl Street Mall, a similar open air pedestrian promenade of shops and restaurants in Boulder Colorado. But while Pearl Street has a buzzy hip vibe, Stephen Ave Walk seemed tired and struggling. There were some noticeably empty storefronts and only a few interesting shops such as Patagonia and Filson. Many of the eateries on Stephen Ave Walk appeared to be bars and casual dining. We had read that Stephens Ave was a mecca for downtown art. We saw two pieces - the Conversation, two large Botero-like bronze statues of businessmen and the Trees, a group of multistory tall metal palm trees near the CORE shopping center in the + 15 Skywalk.
