This building is prepared for large volumes of people so the drive up box sends you through a very clearly labeled maze to move people through or you can go inside and there's a box in there as well with some very friendly employees! Need to register, change of address, etc etc.? No worries - those friendly employees are ready to help you navigate the rules and get things done for you.

Ample parking and it's very conveniently located right near Southcenter Mall and the downtown Renton area. Clean building inside and out as well. All of the staff here was very sweet. Every female employee was over the moon to see my son there running around. As a new walker, they couldn't get enough of his little stumbles and they all told us how cute he was. The employee we worked with to get our certificate with was super nice. And, funny! Like, what?! A government worker who actually seemed to enjoy their job. It was awesome. Not only was his personality great, but he was super thorough in walking us through the different documents we were receiving and made sure we understood everything. Great experience!

Even with an appointment I was not seen til an hour later after my appointment. Example my appointment was at 10:45 was not seen til 11:30/40. But I will say the clerk was super nice and friendly :)

I explained that I had received a fully favorable decision for both SSI and SSDI and that my concern was specifically regarding my SSDI payment, which had not yet been received despite prior processing steps already being completed. The agent immediately defaulted to a scripted response, repeatedly stating that everything was "being processed," without listening to or acknowledging the specifics of my situation. I clarified multiple times that I had already completed my interview in February and had received SSI, but not SSDI. Instead of addressing the discrepancy, the agent continued to repeat the same generic response. I then requested to speak with a supervisor. I was told I could not, because she had already "answered my question." When I calmly asked again, she closed the window on me without providing her name or any assistance. Security then began pressuring me to leave. I stepped outside, contacted my attorney, and returned to formally request a supervisor. I was made to wait outside again--standing, in the cold--until approximately 10:52 AM before being allowed back in. After additional waiting, I was finally able to speak with a supervisor and file a formal grievance. I left the office at 11:19 AM. This experience reflects a serious lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic respect--especially toward individuals with disabilities who rely on these services. Requiring people to wait outside for extended periods, combined with dismissive and obstructive staff behavior, is unacceptable.

I was instructed to go downtown with my original birth certificate and drivers license. When I got there, the security guard informed me that Seattle started a call-in requirement for appointments this week and gave ne a phone number to call and a QR code for their web site. There is no way to request an appointment on their web site. After a long phone tree, the robot said the on-hold wait time was "over 120 minutes." That could mean "not today." I will try again at 8:00 AM and see if "over 120 minutes" means over 8 hours. I have spent over 2 hours today to get this far.

The worst thing about Renton Municipal Court is Judge Jurado. He costs us taxpayers an incredible…read moreamount of money each day. He never takes the bench in a timely matter, he rarely if ever is prepared when he takes the bench (often times reading information on his computer for 10 minutes or more while the courtroom is silent), he treats people charged with a crime who have hired an attorney much different than those who have to have a publicly appointed attorney... I could go on and on. It is sad that Renton has to be saddled with a dud for a judge. The courthouse is beautiful, the Clerks seem efficient and kind, and the parking is good... but the wait for justice, if justice ever really happens by Judge Jurado, is awful. I have not been charged with a crime nor do i work in the building. But i do like to see how my tax dollars are used or misused... so off to view the proceedings i go.
