The recent refresh (the "Mercer Island Refresh") seems to have paid off, with great user spaces and that cozy, enclosed Children's Den with the cute bronze bunnies--it's perfect for families! They have a fantastic selection of books and materials, and it's a great place to settle in for a few hours of work or reading. The ample parking is a huge plus, too! My one note is that it can get a little noisy in the afternoons, especially around the teen lounge area, which can make focused studying a bit of a challenge at peak times. Overall, it's a well-organized, inviting space with friendly staff and a central role in the community. Highly recommend stopping by for a peaceful afternoon!

They recently reorganized the children's section so I have a harder time finding the newest books released and the hours kept changing so I would always have to look up the hours before heading over to see if they were even open or not! At 6:01 pm, as people were still exiting, i asked to use the library restroom. They said "no, the library is closed". I could see there were still people inside. I can't comment about the library in general, but the two workers who said no to restroom access one minute after closing have no discretion/flexiblity/humanity/compassion.

A section with a few computers near the entrance is dedicated to applying for a new library card and you'd have to fill out an application on a website on the computer. The library is medium sized, not too big for a library, but still felt wide and spacious. There is AC and I like that there is a bus stop right outside so that I can comfortably wait for the bus that takes me home.

And it was a solid library with books to explore and purchase. The Redmond library is located across from city hall and is walking distance to the Redmond Transit Center. When I visited on a Friday afternoon the library was quiet and did not have as many people here as the Bellevue location normally has, which was nice. When you enter the library, there are shelves near the entrance for books to purchase from the Friends of the Library sale, which is worth a gander for some really cheap deals. I was easily able to return books and browse through the selection, as the different sections were easy to find and there was ample seating. Not far from where I work out, I'll make Redmond library an option for when I need to return or pick up books.

Lots of space for quiet study and reading. A great selection of books and periodicals that are well organized and ready to go. You do not need to be a resident of North Bend to use the library and there is no credential required to access the internet. You only need to be a resident in order to borrow materials. Fast forward to present, and this library still serves as the source for certain items I can only get from here in the KCLS circuit of libraries. Most recently, I put on hold the only copy in the KCLS libraries of the 2006 movie "RV". I placed the hold request on approximately Thanksgiving Day 2023 (Thursday 23 November 2023). The printed holds slip in the DVD when I picked it up at a different KCLS library today, Tuesday 5 December 2023, printed the date of 24 November 2023 (the day after Thanksgiving). I appreciate the honesty in holds dates for item(s) I get from this library. The copy of the DVD is in good condition, including no fingerprints on the bottom of the disk. There are plenty of Books, videos and computer terminals to use. I never stepped foot in to any library for years, the last time was when my big kids elementary school days, I would take them for the Summer Reading Program but the library ( Oahu) is nothing like this library. I would visit more often if I lived/moved here. I am so amazed, with just a quick walk around the library, so nice, clean, organized, high tech, modern. There is even a security guard at front too. The tax dollars sure is put to good use here! Wait a minute, The library opens on Sunday, that is awesome! I love the section with all the info. for resources, so helpful! The desk has outlet for charging your devices. Some of the amenities this library offer includes, public computers, free Wifi, meeting, study rooms, workspaces, reading area, besides borrowing books. I saw an event going on in the children's section during my visit. There's a canopied stone entry plaza and bicycle rack. I don't know what happen to my library card or even my kids, but after visiting, I really need to consider visiting any library more often. Yep. Reading enriches the mind!

In addition to sections for books, DVDs, audio books, and magazines, there were computer work stations, study room(s)/space(s), and tables with chairs open for use. I looked over some of the books in the non-fiction and biographies sections, opting for a biography on John Muir. On my way towards check out, I found some information about the United States of America naturalization process. I thought that was cool. It also got me thinking about how one would go about learning both about the naturalization process and the history to be tested on for a naturalization test if moving internationally. Still helpful to have informational flyers/pamphlets with some introductory/resource information available/accessible. Former King County library director Gary Wasdin looks like central casting for trailer park…read moreresident. He got his job by showing on his resume how good he is at fund raising. What he doesn't say is how he tricks the community into funding totally unnecessary projects just so he can burnish his resume. I am still furious about that totally unnecessary Kingsgate library renovation back in 2014. He tricked the community into funding it by saying our library hours would be greatly reduced and our reading material drastically cut back if we didn't come up with the funding. So we approved it. And guess what? Our library immediately then gets closed down for a year and a half we lose 90% of our books. Straight out of the third world playbook. And he gets 5% kickback from the inflated contract. Now he is at the Chicago tattoo museum, right where he belongs. He will fit in well there. All we got in the renovation was to move our toilets 50 ft further inside the building.

Don't get me wrong: kids in libraries is a wonderful thing but whatever happened to good parenting or librarians enforcing a basic standard of behavior? Going forward I'll go to the Issaquah library instead.
