IN RESPONSE TO MR. KOELKEBECK:
My name is Stevie Davis, I am the Service Writer and Office Manager for King Automotive. I was present for the inspection, THE 2 TIMES you attempted to get a re-inspection and on the 3rd day the altercation between yourself and Mr. King. Apparently you can't recall the actual events on that timeline so I thought I would clarify.
DAY 1 2-05-2013
Mr. Koekelbeck came by King Automotive and requested a re-inspection, however due to a family emergency (Mr. King's Wife Was In The Hospital) we were unable to re-inspect his vehicle. I told Mr. Koekelbeck at this time to call ahead because we did not know when Mr. King would be back due to the circumstances with his wife. Mr. Koekelbeck asked why we did not have a second Inspector and I informed him that our second inspector was badly injured in a fall the week prior which required serious surgery and he would be out for several months. Mr. Koekelbeck was both rude and lacking empathy or even a mild sense of understanding regarding our situation, which we could neither avoid nor prepare for given the circumstances.
DAY 2 2-06-2013
Mr. Koekelbeck did not heed the information I had given him and yet again showed up for a re-inspection without calling, which we could not complete due to Mr. King's absence. On this occasion he was aggressively rude- my response to this was yet again- for him to call prior to showing up as I was still unsure when Mr. King would be in because his wife was still in the hospital. Mr. Koekelbeck vehemently argued with me about the importance of having a second inspector to which I responded that we had not had time to look for a second inspector since it had only been a few days since our other employee was severely injured, and Mr. King's absence was unanticipated, he left following my response.
DAY 3 2-07-2013
Mr. Koekelbeck arrives a third time (once again without calling), this time Mr. King was present and agreed to complete the re-inspection, but when he pulled the vehicle in to our inspection bay it was evident that the necessary repairs had not been completed. We legally couldn't re-inspect Mr. Koekelbeck's vehicle because in the state of Virginia you are only allowed one rejection sticker. Mr. Koekelbeck was advised on the necessary repairs for a second time (the first time he was given a list in writing). Mr. Koekelbeck proceeded to curse at me (here are few of the expletives he used B***H/ S**T/ F**K you can fill in the blanks) and I calmly responded that I was sorry but there was nothing I could do, after which he left the front office. When he got out to his car and discovered his window was rolled down he proceeded to pick a fight with Mr. King at one point he stated "I don't give a S**T if your wife was in the hospital." this provocation forced a response from Mr. King that did involve expletives- but Mr. Koekelbeck very clearly began and escalated the altercation to invoke this response it was in no way unwarranted.
*While I agree that Mr. King should have exercised greater self restraint than he did he is only human and I couldn't say that I would react any differently if I were in the same situation. The bottom line is simply that Mr. Koekelbeck did everything in his power to illicit the response he received- in order to obtain an inspection on his vehicle which was not street legal. When he didn't get what he wanted he acted like a child, and then proceeded to defame King Automotive because his lewd disrespectful behavior and explicit language did not accomplish the intended goal. What he didn't account for were witnesses to the altercation as well as his attitude and actions before-hand. I was present for everything and I can state with no reservations that Mr. King and the employees of King Automotive (including myself) acted in a courteous and professional manner within the realm of reason.
*To Mr. Koekelbeck: I would be cautious with what you choose to post online because what you have done here can be clearly defined as defamation of character and there is solid evidence to support that notion. Not only was your statement inaccurate it was posted with the intent to damage this business's reputation. What you have done here in posting this fictional and exaggerated sob story is prosecutable by law so you may want to reconsider the next time you think about writing something in a public forum in permanent ink. read more
