Dixie Dance Hall - Blue Broussard & Jamie Talbert song swap

Dixie Dance Hall

I've been pretty hard on Beaumont establishments lately, but I think that Dixie Dance Hall deserves…read morethese stars. Dixie is the dance club that's managed to stick around for a good number of years in a city that can't seem to get its footing in the nightlife scene. For dancing, the dance floor is great in size and layout. There are clearly defined seating and leaning areas and bars or pool tables on either end. There are 2 bars, both seemingly offering the same things, though one is larger and longer. The one near the bathrooms seems to get less traffic and makes for quicker service. And in Dixie Dance Hall, we have a Beaumont bar that at least uses point of sale computers to input orders, so you have some degree of accuracy with your tab. The light is low, but not so low that you can't see the fancy footwork of some skilled 2-steppers. The decor is minimal and what you'd expect at a country-western dance hall, and overall the establishment is clean. The drinks are mixed strong and drink specials are always offered with promotions listed on their website and Facebook pages. They also advertise nightly specials to get in free or with discounted cover. Usually your cover to Dixie also includes cover to Vain or other Crocket Street venues. On weekend nights, there are test-tube shot girls that come around with their offerings for $2. They are friendly and are able to add these shots to your bar tab. The girls are also easy on the eyes, if you're in to that. The dress code is VERY casual -- think barn wedding attire at best. Jeans and polos abound for the fellas, while ladies easily get away with jean shorts and a tank top. It's a large place, so it won't always be packed to the gills, but if you're looking for a place in Beaumont to dance like nobody's watching and be a little silly, this is as good as it gets.

If you're over 30 and looking for country this place is not for you. The crowd is mostly…read more20-somethings and the music is only 33% country. If you want to country dance in Beaumont go to The River.

First of all let me start by saying I ABSOLUTELY love the place and have always loved it since its…read moreopening some years ago. It has made some changes over the years and I think they did an outstanding job on those modifications. The place is mainly RnB swing out style music. Thursday is real laid back and professional environment. I love it. Just the right number of people for a great introduction to the weekend. Saturdays was rowdy just the way a Saturday should be!! Again mainly RnB but DJ Choppa was on it and kilt it. He gave some non two stepping music for the non steppers....was a great mix no doubt! DJ great he entertains and knows how to keep the music going and just right. I have to say place is small but those are the ones that thrive. Ppl love intimacy (before you say Huh.... look at definition of intimacy). The intimate setting is wonderful. The bartenders (mixologist) whatever term you would like to use they ARE WONDERFUL. John is very meticulous about his craft and you can tell. Saturday i had the ciroc and lemonade all night was great. they dont skimp on the liquor. Although he chatting it up and giving each customer his attention he stills keep an eye on who he can serve so they won't feel left out. They def no what they are doing behind that bar let me tell u. Houston has me spoiled with no cover pretty much at any of the lounges at any time so if you don't get there before a certain time expect to pay 5-10 bucks no bad at all for a night of sure pleasure. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would go back every time I'm in town visiting my parents in Sislbee TX.

I went to Nell's Place on my birthday, August 19, at the invitation of my brother who is a Beaumont…read moreresident. I was visiting from Key West, Florida. I was somewhat surprised when we walked toward the entrance and a sign was posted informing potential customers that there would be an additional charge if you used a credit card! Ok, strike one for a welcoming atmosphere. Then, upon entering the establishment, we were accosted by a beautiful woman who informed us that since it was Karaoke Night, Wednesday, mind you, there would be a 5.00 cover charge for each of us. Okay, we pay to hear someone else ruin a Frankie Beverly and Maze classic! :-) Strike Two, for welcoming, inviting, and classy. Nell's Place might be a wonderful place for locals and a quaint place to socialize and meet new people, but it struck out for me on that day, and I doubt if I will ever go again when I am in town visiting relatives. Oh, strike three was the sheer lack of customer service and inattentiveness to those not seated at the bar. All the Locals were adequately taken care of at the bar while those seated on the floor seemed invisible to the Nell's Place staff.
