This was the second medical cannabis dispensary that I visited in Washington, D.C. and it was good. I got lost trying to find Kinfolk the first time, so I called them and a nice lady talked to me and gave me directions until I was standing in front of the door. Parking can be hard to find, but there are usually some spots behind the building on the street. I was actually driving to a different dispensary that closed at 7 p.m., so I was very happy that Kinfolk was open until 8 p.m. This dispensary has a good selection, but they run out of items toward the end of the week. Sometimes they don't have everything advertised on the website. However, they have a nice rewards program that pays dividends and you can visit more than once per day. Kinfolk carries the District Cannabis line of flowers and gel caps which are very good. They even carry Charlotte's Web x Harle Tsu strain which may be the highest CBD strain in the world. It stopped muscle spasms from my leg injury and my back injury. The Gelato Cake strain and Cherry Chem strain are high in THC and worth the trip and price. I didn't care too much for the other stuff that I tried once (e.g. other gel caps and a pre-rolled joint) because they were weak. The other strains weren't quite as good, but they weren't bad. The people working at Kinfolk are kind and patient. I'd be happy to return some time for more meds. read more

I only purchase cartridges from here. First time here I purchased a disposable cartridges that was advertised as 0.5g on their menu when in actuality it's 0.3. The second disposable cartridges I purchased stopped working on me so I had to toss all that good shit out. What a waste of money. Anyway, I wanted to splurge a little bit before the new year so I purchased 2 pre-rolls and .5g cartridge and added a battery/pen. To my disappointing surprise, one of my cones was filled halfway and wasn't even twisted properly. I was also charged an extra $17 for an e-cigarette/battery for my cartridge which didn't include a charger. I was told they ran out and that I could easily find one on the internet. That's such an inconvenience. This place is pretty pricey and don't offer good deals. I only come out of convenience but I think I will look into switching dispensaries. The quality of their stuff is always good and the staff is friendly for the most part but they will short you on quantity and you won't realize it until you're already gone. read more

If I could give this total experience a zero, I would. Given that this dispensary is in the heart of Eastern Market, it was a full waiting room. I went to Reception, completed the application and waited to be called back. When I was finally called back the lady assisting me walked off, I waited a full minute or so before looking around and calling out to let her know that this is my first visit. It would seem that she should have asked me that question. She gave me a 3 second tour and began to impatiently speak to me about my options. Her overall vibe was condescending and lacked any level of sincerity. She was so impatient that when I did make a purchase, she neglected to give me my change. I returned, no apology, nothing! I was able to get my change, which also seemed to be too much for her. Honestly, there was a completely unprofessional feel and vibration to this place. There are far better dispensaries in the city, with happier and more professional workers; not to mention better pricing. Not worth the hassle. I came for stress and anxiety relief only to be completely anxiety ridden after this experience. I will not return and recommend that others spare themselves the headache. read more

*Sigh* I hate doing this, as the staff at this place seem great and are cordial and jovial as any 5 star place. However, the whole setup at this place is ridiculously inefficient. At the other two places in town, my average wait is 5 minutes. Here, it's a minimum of 30 minutes wait. Every.single.time. It's always swamped with people and feels very doctors office-like. So far it has been pretty good service. I'm fairly happy with it. They are one of 3 dispensaries in the district. They handle the entire application process for you (at the time of this posting they can only serve medical patients). They got me set up with a doctor, my condition approved, my application delivered and my card in the mail within two weeks from start to finish. If you are new to the DC area, be cautious of the residency requirements. I was advised incorrectly from a dispensary employee on what was required and showed up at the dispensary without everything needed. A voters registration card is one of the approved items to prove residency, and yes - in the district you can print off a PDF of your card, that is correct, but you have to do this significantly in advance. I showed up to bring all my documents and the voters ID card would not suffice because when looked up in the DC system, it had not been approved yet. Just having the PDF is not enough. You must also reflect in the DC voters registration system. The exact same thing happened to another guy that was completing his application at the same time. The physician's office was very stuffy, cramped, and not in a very good neighborhood. The dispensary is tucked away in the suite next to the cell phone repair shop. It is not advertised from the street which is incredibly inconvenient for new patients, but is probably a pro for anyone who is really concerned about privacy. The lobby of the dispensary is really clean and the employees are very nice! I'm very disappointed they don't seem to keep up with their Leafly, Weedmaps, or any other menu system. I've been to this place many times and the last couple of times were not great!! The staff has this better than you attitude and they aren't helpful. I placed an order online on to be up charged when i got there. When I told them about it it was already gone off the website. But luckily i still had the window open and was able to capture it. When I called to talk to the manager she really was acting like she did something buy taking $5 off. Little girl... the price on the site said $128 and my receipt said $160..She didnt even want to see it because they didn't want to admit they are wrong. When I told them thats not was on the site they had an attitude and asked ME to show them. But of course it was gone. And when the young manger said do you want me to tell the owners about the mistakes on the website...ummm DUH!!!!!luckily.. To be fully transparent I used to be a metropolitan wellness center customer until I had an issue with their manager Vanessa. I switched to Tacoma wellness and couldn't be happier but then Covid struck. I am not able to get up to them safely so I decided to give metropolitan another chance with their delivery service. It's pricey - you basically add another 10% onto whatever you spend for the "delivery charge" and then you should tip the delivery person making your total considerably higher than if you went in. I found that to be a worthwhile compromise considering my health status. However, you must order off their website which is never accurate. Out of the six items I ordered they only had one so they have to call you and try to talk you into whatever they do have in stock. This happens each and every time. They know it's an issue but they also don't seem to be able to or want to fix it which is what's so frustrating. Way too expensive compared to other dispensaries. $25 a gram that can be bought for $15 (or even cheaper) elsewhere. They helped me with my application but wish they would get more in line with standard pricing. Will be switching my application to another dispensary because of this. Update- switched dispensaries and couldn't be happier. Waaaay cheaper and much more variety. (Compare menus online). Even their doctor "fee" is 1/2 price. I'm not totally sure why the reviews of this place are so negative. I will say up front that I have never patronized any other medical marijuana dispensary, either in DC or anywhere else, so I don't have the ability to make comparisons or contrasts. That said, my experiences here have been almost uniformly positive. I have been with them for well over a year now. They were very helpful in getting me into the system, and took care of everything in terms of putting me in touch with the right doctor, making the appointment, submitting paperwork to the Department of Health, etc. Once I had my card, I found the staff to be unfailingly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They obviously take a serious interest in their patients, and make sure that we are getting the right strains to meet the particular needs that we have. After some difficulty securing suppliers, they now have a very wide selection of strains, including flowers, infusions, tinctures, and other products with a huge range of THC strength and other factors. A recent feature that I have found invaluable is the ability to go on to their website, see what is available that day, and pre-order. Then, all you have to do is wait for the email confirmation that your order is ready, walk in, and pick it up. Being able to read about the different qualities of each strain on offer and just order it with the click of a mouse is incredibly convenient. Is dealing with the Department of Health frustrating? Sure, but that's not Metropolitan's fault, and they do try to assist however they can. Once you have your card, this is a great place to go. read more

My wife and I came here from NJ and both of us were very impressed with how these guys run their business. It's a little tricky to find when driving past, and parking seems to be a bit of a challenge, but once we managed to find a spot, it was easy street from that point on. With our NJ medical cards, we were quickly brought in and were able to purchase right away. The staff are super friendly and informative about their products. We really liked that we were able to purchase together, as in NJ it's more regimented and strict. The variety was really nice, everything you can imagine that is marijuana related was for sale, and the stuff we bought was all top notch quality! It's pricey no matter where you go, it seems, but given that this was our first time buying legal marijuana in DC, the cost really didn't bother us. We are just grateful that we were able to drive straight to DC, and in no time at all, we were stocked with cannabis goodness. My preorder receipt, from 05/02/19, shows the tincture at $30 and the American Pie rosin cart at $47. You charged $40 for the tincture and $60 for the Pie cart. To top that off the Pie cart is just spitting most of the rosin into my mouth. Not thrilled. *40 hours later* I waited for a response to my email and vm but ended up having to go into the store. I waited 15 minutes to be called back, after explaining to the receptionist. She calls be back and hands me off to a guy and I find out that the woman at the counter had not explained what had happened yet. But he says, "Oh this is the guy." So he read my email or heard my vm but just could not be bothered? Okay, I wait for him to figure out what I have already told them, you owe me $70 plus tax. He tells me not to worry that he will take care of me. I hand him a list of things that total $152 as they have a special of get an eighth of Mother Smuckers for spending $150. He states that they are out of the Mother but he can get me something else. I ask for the equivalent in Royal Med. He charges me for one of the things on my list and then the royal med.....Sooo...his big "ta da" was to give me back the money that they overcharged me and the actual cost of the defective cart. Like giving me what was owed was some big deal. Then WTF with the rest of the items on the list and saying that he would give me the equivalent of the Mothers? That was some BS right there. I decided that the 36+ hours that I waited with no response and 15 minutes waiting....and 5 minutes for him to do his "mathematical gymnastics" so that you could admit that you owe me $70 and then COMPLETELY decide that, what?, I could not have the rest of the things on the menu because they were out of the Mother? Why offer the equivalent? I asked, as politely as I could, for a preroll to make up the difference in cost for the replacement cart versus what they owed me and told him that was BS and I would not be returning. On my way out the girl at the desk asks me if everything is okay and I responded, "No." She BSed back, "So they took care of you?" I responded, "No." and she said, "Okay, great." This entire exchange embodies this place. On the plus side...I just spent $215 at National Holistic Healing Center. I have experienced no BS there. What is the use of a point system, like Metro Wellness claims to have, if there is a $23 price difference when you pick up your preorders? Even if it happens only 4 times you have paid for, after tax, that BS $100 off for points BS. Then there is the fact that this is medicine for me. I got my prescription from my regular doctor for actual medical reasons. Imagine your doctor calls in a prescription and the pharmacist overcharges you and then has an attitude of, "Oh...you caught us...I guess we will have to give your money back....if you come to the store and ask for it...." I wonder how many people this has happened to who did not see the price difference and if Leafly knows that this is happening? read more

I initially visited the dispensary in person and was reasonably pleased with the employees I encountered. As my purchases were dwindling, I decided to take advantage of the delivery service as advertised. Over several days I called and left messages, phone calls were never returned. I sent an email and never received a response. Finally, I was able to speak with someone and was directed to the online ordering, through a third party organization. I did so, but never received acknowledgement. Again, I called and was able to speak to someone at Kinfolk who, upon investigating the issue, discovered that, indeed, the delivery service was not currently functioning. Out of desperation, I agreed to do curbside pickup and was told it could be handled quickly and easily. NOPE! No one answered the phone and I had to leave my illegally parked car to run into the shop. On top of it all, by the time I was able to place an order, they were out of my product choices. I have been a patient at this dispensary for years. I am extremely fed up with both the prices and not getting my discount. I have a red box discount but cannot use it the way I choose at this dispensary. I don't know if everyone's up to date but I receive text messages and on the recent text it said, " Sunflower Black, Red, Yellow & Purple are back for $25/eighth! Get Sunflower Blue for $20/eighth today only! Red Box discount not apply Reply STOP MWC to cancel". What's the point of the discount if we cannot use it? Red box members have this discount for a reason. This is a greedy dispensary and it's not like they can't make the money up if we do have a discount because look at the rest of the prices. I went in there yesterday for Sunflower blue and it was $26, where's the discount? Oh, right! Their greedy so there wasn't one. read more

However, after posting my previous complaint, the owner contacted me personally and addressed all my concerns. As I did not want to utilize the service at this time, he gladly refunded all my money. My rating is based on the dedication he showed in making things right. Its Feb 2016 and as I understand they are they STILL charging $25 a gram. The dispensary I switched to has the same strains for $14-20 a gram and they have specials that are even more affordable. The people at Metropolitan are nice but nice isn't enough when you are spending this much money. I won't mention the name of my new dispensary, but there are only 5 in the city so price comparing should be easy as some of the others have up-to-date websites that show what they are charging that day. read more

I had my first visit to the dispensary this week and I am a fan. From the time I was greeted when I walked in the door until I walked out with my package in hand I was treated by a professional and friendly staff.
