You know a studio is great when you're greeted by your first name and the instructors are happy to teach their classes. I love that they have a variety of classes at different times throughout the week. I loved my experience so much I had to tell all of my friends and have even shared a barre class with a good friend! I love the yoga classes offered for different levels. I was hesitant and doubtful about trying an advanced yoga class and spoke to the instructor. She assured me that her class is more advanced than the beginner's class, but that I can keep up at my own pace. Despite that, I thought the class and pace were great and felt a relieved when the instructor said she thought I had nothing to worry about. I attended classes about twice a day/5 times a week and was able to do a handstand against the wall in 4 weeks! The instructors are that awesome! After I paid for a month of unlimited classes Racheal came in on the day I would have taken my fifth lesson and in front of the class asked me if I was vaccinated. I didn't feel it was an appropriate question yet I told her the truth. I am not vaccinated. That was not something that I was asked when I joined. If unvaccinated folk were not welcome I should have been vetted much more thoroughly. I respect a business's right to determine if a mask is required or whether or not unvaccinated people are welcome. In my opinion each individual should have the right to determine whether or not they wish to be vaccinated. Miss mighty Racheal had the audacity to verbally berate me. She went on to verbally castigate me for not being vaccinated in a global pandemic. She refused to give me a refund and threatened me with the FBI and bragged about what a powerful attorney she is. Racheal does not have a Yoga spirit. She is not a smart business person. This would be a nice place if it were not for her. People of color beware-you may not be welcome here.

Wow, I was blown away by 3rd street!! This place is the real deal. Friendly, knowledgeable instructors. Calm atmosphere. Plenty of pose variations and prop modifications. I'm a dude and so I'm pretty wary of super female oriented anything. So this place was s total…read moresurprise. I thought I would walk in to a place that sold yoga pants and pushed ideology like "Get your Pilates Body!!!" and "this one's a good cellulite killer". But to my complete shock, this was mainly all about movement education. Now, let me clear about that: It can be a VERY hard workout. It can also be about prepping your muscles and unwinding stupid patterns I've gotten myself into so that I can do what used to come easily for me. Let me give you my best example out of MANY: I started having MAJOR lower back pain. Out of the blue. It went on for several weeks. And so I went in and told my instructor and she did a deliberately slow and thoughtful analysis of my movement, when things irritated me, when movement soothed me. And she finally said, "There's basically nothing wrong with your back. But your hips are SUPER tight." And I was like, "What's that got to do with my back?" (I didn't vocalize this) And so she gave me a bunch homework and movement I was required to do at home. Let me pause here to say, I'm a 32 year old dude, with no injuries or weight problems or limitations in my mobility. IF you saw me, you would think I was healthy and in shape. Now, after a week of this homework for my hips, my back started to feel less strain. Then after two to three weeks, I only felt the pain in the mornings. Then after a month, it was completely gone. Then I stopped doing the homework . . . and guess what . . . it all came back. So, take that for what it's worth. I've lost 10 lbs and I'm also constantly realizing how much more fluidly I live my life. Bending down to pick up a shoe used to be a stretch for me. Not anymore. Neck and shoulder pain plagued me in my early 20's when I sat at a computer desk all day. That's been gone for over a year now. I feel younger and more agile than I did 10 years ago. And I can see it in other people that they are not taking any time to maintain and repattern their movements as they get into their 30's --- so I expect to see a lot of my friends getting surgery when they honestly just need to be moving with the gifted instructors at this studio.

Also, you'd better know what you're doing, even in the beginner classes, which there are very few. They move fast and there's very little assistance offered. I like restorative yoga, but that is very hit or miss depending on the instructor. The other reason for this review is I actually paid for private lessons and didn't receive all of them. When I contacted them about this, I was pretty much blown off and told I had until May to use what I had already paid for. There was nothing in the response about the private class I paid for (which was in addition to my package classes). While I may go back just to use what I've paid for, I think there are better options in this town. At this point, I'm using Lifetime fitness, which has more options and offers members more help with yoga poses.
