I know it would be cliche to compliment Fratelle on how welcoming they are or their great customer service because, let's face it, these are the core components of any hair salon. However I have been to places where the person who looked after me was (excuse me for me direct) rubbish and it was as if they were being friendly because it is part of their job specs. Somehow I don't feel like this at Fratelle - you don't get the fake smile and the staff are really good + you get a complimentary drink as well!

Lack of professionalism, maturity and communication - had my hair done here wanting balayage from dark brunette. Lifted to a beautiful light yellow blonde (no orange or red tones). it came out like liney highlifhts with so much darkness still (deffs not balayage) she also made it so grey ashy!! . They completely stuffed my hair up far from what i wanted... AFTERR briefly speaking with Evon over Instagram to sort this out she told me she will SPEAK TO Emily (the owner) n get back to me. After two days she never got back to me and when I proceeded to message her she had already blocked me + I checked through a friends Instagram and she 100% blocked me. I proceeded to call and after mentioning who was calling she hung up on me. Called again, answered , didn't speak and hung up when I said hello. 3rd time I spoke to Emily and Emily said " well you've written a review so you're not getting anything" she continued to speak over me , not allowing me to talk and I had to speak over her and still she wouldn't listen. She then proceeded to tell me to "get f*kd" then hung up on me. THIS ISNT about getting anything back (refund or a service) anymore. this is about how they've handled this. ZERO communication! so disrespectful!! all because I wrote a review on how they stuffed my hair. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND IMMATURE FOR "SENIOR" hairdressers. It's like dealing with 15 year olds. She raved about the lovely service, and how staff stayed back and assisted the other to get her the colour she wanted. Sweet. So I came in with another colleague, she is there for a haircut and I am there for eyebrow threading. The shopfront is only about 1.5 metres wide so it's easy to walk past or undermine this salon, but once you walk in you will find a long narrow salon with a separate area at the back and beautician of the house Rimi does her magic upstairs. The hairdresser listened to my friend's request and did a good job cutting and thin layering her super thick hair. She was told the story that this salon's specialty is hair extension and they love doing colours. My eyebrow threading+tinting was a lovely experience and both of us walked away happy and with a $20 voucher each for next visit. Friendly staff, lovely service, satisfied clients. If I didn't have to cross the bridge to get here, this will be my local salon.

The hair dressers here really take the time to understand what you are trying to achieve with your hair and offer helpful suggestions on cutting styles and products that would be good for you too. There is even a loyalty program which is always a nice and useful touch. Elizabeth is the owner and a local, which to me is an added bonus. The salon is modern, clean and relaxing. I find the stylists really take the time to assess what colour and cut would suit you best, and I trust there advice. Though a recent bad self inflicted DIY ombre (sorry, balayage!) job has made it inevitable so after trawling Vogue Forum, I decided on Shibui because, well they are known for natural / non madcap hair. I booked in with Anita and arrived early. The wait was minimal and I showed her my inspiration look - Emily Deschanel from Bones. She felt my hair, asked a bunch of questions about what I was going for in terms of length etc and off we went! First up - Anita gives an amazing AH-MAZING head massage. I usually hate having my hair washed because well, it's never pleasant but this was ACTUALLY enjoyable. Truly. I found that she took quite a fair bit of time just being precise - e.g. making sure the ends of my hair are matching lengths etc which is awesome because it's ALWAYS nice not to have an Edward Scissorhands at your head. I didn't think such a simple cut needed such careful work but the results were mind blowing, I think that this is easily the BEST haircut I've ever gotten and I'm definitely heading back. Another thing I loved - Anita wasn't a chatty mc chatterson. Some people love chatty stylists but I'm painfully shy and I dread small talk especially with strangers so, she was really quiet and focused which was really good.
