(From age 12 to 17 years.) At the time, Maria was teaching at Studio 5D. The environment Maria cultivated for her students was very toxic, degrading and belittling. The toll this emotional harm caused from Maria's negative and noxious environment was not only immediate but also long lasting into adulthood. It has taken me years to find my confidence and self-worth due to the constant berating and patronizing remarks made during dance class and rehearsal. It is extremely difficult not to start believing in the negative remarks when it has a constant presence and is coming from someone of authority. While these events did take place over 10 years ago, I cannot imagine Maria providing children a positive and healthy dance environment to learn, create and grow.

I booked and paid for the class online before attending the studio to secure my spot. This made it easier for me to come a little closer to class start time. When I got there I just gave the front desk my name and they found me in their roster. Showed up in athletic type attire and sneakers and learned a few new dance routines. Came out of this class happy, motivated, more limber, and feeling accomplished for learning some new moves. Did I say happy? Yes, just felt good all over from working hard, having fun, and getting my heart rate up. Parking is a little crowded here, but worth it for a workout or to learn some new moves. We have been bringing our daughter to ballet/tap class for a couple of months now and love it…read more Because of her age when she started, we had the option of trying Parent & me class and ballet/tap since we were mostly interested in ballet. Daughter loved ballet/tap and we enrolled her. So far we are very happy with the classes and how structured everything seems, even for the youngest dancers. Studio is always a text message away and they send several emails during the week to keep us updated with any changes. I have to add that studio takes feedback well and are always eager to help. They are also very strict with how classes go which I appreciate since toddlers need that structure and strictness. My daughter loves her classes and looks forward to each one. Looking forward to a year of more dancing for our little one!

The first three lessons were great with our instructor RoseAngel. With RoseAngel we had planned the fourth lesson to be mini-choreography for a song we were bringing. When we arrived for our fourth prepaid private lesson, Samantha stopped us at the door. She said they were going to switch it up today with a couple's workshop so that we can dance with other partners. When we said we were not interested, she said we will be charged anyway since they cannot guarantee private lessons, and they can only guarantee the time of the lesson. The whole point of this experience was to spend quality time with my wife. Instead without any notice in advance we were forced into an ultimatum to dance with others or lose our payment.

They try very hard to show a positive and supportive image, but what I saw behind the scenes felt very different. Some staff and teachers act like they are very important people, almost like they copy the behavior from the show Dance Moms, but without the real skill. The disrespectful way they talked to and about kids and parents, and how little they seemed to care about the children's growth and well‑being, was very noticeable. One day when I walked into the studio, I even heard a staff member call the owner "the queen," and I saw how the others looked afraid to speak around her. It gave the whole place a strange and tense feeling, and I can imagine the kids also hear this kind of thing. The school offers many different classes, and at first I was excited to try them. But very quickly I saw that the teaching skills in all areas were not strong, and the teachers did not show much patience. It seemed like they wanted to blame the children. In some classes, the teachers were sitting on the floor yelling instructions or scrolling on their phone instead of helping the girls or teaching them calmly with proper technique. The costs also become high very fast. Tuition is expensive, and then there are extra fees for almost everything. They don't even provide a small snack for the children during several hours long events and recitals. The environment did not feel right or helpful for my girls. I strongly suggest looking at other dance schools and avoiding this one.

During our brief conversation, he let me know that the studio was offering to allow perspective students to take a number of classes to try out dance and see how they like it. I was definitely intrigued by this. In the two weeks that followed, I sampled 2 Monday night and 2 Tuesday night classes where the introduction to several dances (tango, salsa, bachata, etc.) were covered by Andy. About half way through class Mark (Owner?) would arrive and assist through to the end. The second week just happened to coincide with the week of the evening dance party held at the Jazzercise Orlando Mills 50 Fitness Center and I was invited to attend. Overall, the Instructors were great, welcoming and very personable. The other students were very open and welcoming. The classes and the dance party was a good experience. I will definitely go back and recommend that you give it a try if you're curious about dancing.
