Windstream destroyed our community in Shepherdsville with the installation of their fiber optic. My irrigation lines were cut in three places and the trench they dug ruined my lawn and possibly killed a tree due to the roots their trench machine damaged. They damaged our community parkway/road in three places when they attempted to install cable under the roads. Multiple yards have similar or worse damages. read more

Avoid this company at all costs. The staff is rude, they ARE NOT accredited with the Better Business Burea and could care less about the regular person. Unless your a big company or organization they take their sweet time getting your service back up and running, They came out last year to repair some broken poles due to a storm and totally destroyed my fence line accessing the lines. When I complained about it they said they would replace my fence..that was 15 months ago and they never did. Of course I already replaced it and sent them a bill for the materials, that they won't pay for. I switched over to Xfinity, the cost is a little higher but I haven't had any complaints so far to date. Good riddance Windstream !!! read more

I had their "service" for 2 months and 10 days. That's how long it took me to figure out what a massive mistake I made switching to Kinetic, and to switch back to my old provider. Don't be fooled by their introductory plans like I was - yeah, 3gbs is great on paper. In reality, I never once got above 600mbs. And for some reason, fiber did NOT play nice with our Rokus - making Amazon video and Netflix stutter on playback, becoming unwatchable. Both work fine again now that I've switched back. If you're getting new service, don't count on having the wires in your yard buried in any kind of timely manner. Apparently that's contracted out to a second company that will get to you between the hours of next month and possibly within the next decade. Maybe. Better hope that your installation is correct the first time, and that your technician doesn't "splice your line wrong" or that you have a "bad router" (twice!) out of the box. Both will take at least a week for tech to get to, so hope you weren't planning on actually using your new high-speed fiber internet. Feeling upset about your lack of service? NO PROBLEM! Connect to their website, and find their absolutely useless self-help bot, who, after you're ready to pull your hair out, MIGHT connect you to a customer service rep that will read from a script and pretend not to know anything else about your problem. So you think, "hey, I'll give 'em a call!" Well, good luck with that. Their tech support is ALSO farmed out, and the operators will ALSO read from a script and pretend not to know anything else about your problem. Assuming they don't literally hang up on you. And if your internet goes down for... reasons? Yeah, the soonest they can get to that is sometime next week. Literally. So, hope you don't work from home or anything, because you may be down for extended periods for no apparent reason. Fun. I sincerely wouldn't recommend Kinetic to an enemy, and I'm very glad they're not the only provider in my area. Never again. read more

I was a Windstream customer over 10 years ago and I swore to never use their "services" again, because the company is lousy. Fast forward to 2024... Things have changed and the company now calls itself "Kinetic by Windstream." Every few months, we would get a post card addressed to "future customer" and I always tore them up, when I got them in the mail. So, I guess that marketing technique didn't work, because they start canvassing the neighborhood with door to door salespeople, just like the old days. When they showed up, I told them I wasn't interested in Windstream, because they screwed me over 3 times, in the past, and I was not open for a 4th time. They would tell us all time, "that's not us, we're a new company!" Yeah, right! So, I closed the door on them. Then, on May, 1 2024, I heard someone rapidly knocking on my door. I checked who it was and it was another "Kinetic by Windstream" employee! Here we go again. Well, it was a woman named "Amanda Rooney" and she claimed to be a higher up in the sales department. After explaining my prior bad experiences with "Windstream," Amanda ASSURED me they weren't that company anymore and they would earn my loyalty with fast fiber-optic Internet, great customer service, and... a pre-paid $200 card! Well, okay... So, I gave them a chance and scheduled an installation appointment for May 7, 2024, between 1p.m. to 3p.m. On the day of the appointment, I got a call from a technician named "Mike" at 11:43 a.m. (1-1/2 hours earlier than my appointment timeframe) and he said "I'm on the way!" When "Mike" arrived he told me he had to check the locations of the fiber-optic cables. After awhile, "Mike" returned, sighed, and told me I had "two options." Option 1 involved hooking up the fiber-optic cable in front of the house behind me and route the cable through their yard, my backyard, and hooked up through my side patio. It was the longer installation route and "Mike" told me he "probably didn't have enough cable" to do the job (Translation: He didn't want to do it). Option 2 involved hooking it up near the front of my house, running it "under my neighbor's driveway," then running to a box on my front patio. Bottom line: It wasn't getting done that day. They sent me a text message telling me that I would be text-messaged a follow-up appointment "within 7 working days." After 7 working days passed - NO TEXT MESSAGE, NO PHONE CALL, NO VISIT - Windstream failed me again, like it did over 10 years ago. If you're considering Windstream, I would advise against it. After they failed to contact me, I called the customer service line and cancelled the installation. So, I'm a Comcast Xfinity Internet customer and I was able to 1.2 Gig speed Internet for $100/month AND I easily installed the Internet Gateway myself. I'm happy with Xfinity speeds and reliability, so I hope I never see one of those "Windstream" salespeople again. Kinetic by Windstream is a DISASTER! Avoid, at all costs. I wasn't happy with my internet, so I called Windstream and spoke with Paul. So, he originally quoted me $60 on the internet, then proceeded to upsale me to add Direct TV. I asked him twice during this conversation if there were any contracts and he told me no. He told me that if I went with both, he would wave the cost of the internet and it would cost me $180 (before taxes) for both internet and Direct TV as long as I set it up on automatic payments. So I agreed and gave him my information. and out lied to. So, the installer comes out and installs the internet and Direct TV on our Smart TV downstairs through an app and told me that I could do the same thing for the upstairs. He was nice and I had no problem with him. They sent me a plug in and remote for the one TV, so I plugged it into the upstairs TV and that worked fine. On the downstairs TV, we were still using our regular TV remote. We found it very difficult to flip between our paid channels like Netflix and Direct TV. I called technical support and spoke to them about it and their answer was to unplug the plug in on the upstairs and bring it downstairs and plug it in there. I said, then how am I going to get my Direct TV upstairs because Direct TV was not an app available on my upstairs TV. She didn't seem to be concerned about that. Fast forward, I start getting debits for $189.81 and another one for $84.72. I did not misunderstand this man because I took detailed notes while I was talking to him. So, I was right out lied to. I call and tell them that I want out. They tell me that there is no contract on the internet but there was on the Direct TV and I would have to call the Direct TV number to have that disconnected. I would also have to pay for an extra month of internet at the $84.72 price tag. So, then I call Direct TV. They said they were sorry for my experience and discussed some discounts. I was not interested because I was fed up with this company. Bottom line, it is costing me $455 to get out of this contract. read more

The customer service line is simply horrific, they are not interested in helping you solve your issue and it takes 30 min on hold to do it. The intranet sounds good but I couldn't get the technician out here . No phone calls at all, just a no show . Called customer service three times got hung up on once Thank you for responding but Jordon, the guy who sold me on your service fixed my issues .
