At no point was there a clear explanation for the level of force being used, nor was my discomfort adequately addressed during the appointment. A routine dental cleaning should not result in pain, heavy bleeding, or damage to existing dental work. I have had many cleanings over the years, and this was by far the most uncomfortable and poorly handled experience. Based on what happened, I genuinely don't understand how this practice maintains such high ratings. Patients should not be expected to accept this level of care as normal. I would not return or recommend this office based on my experience.

Fast forward more time - I receive an email reminder for an upcoming appointment and it says that I cannot email for cancelation and must call in. I called and they are closed on a Friday at 3pm. I did not make this appointment but clearly I'm in their system somewhere. This is ridiculous. I left a voicemail when prompted on the phone to state that I did not schedule this appointment and want it canceled. If I get charged for this, I'll be sure to challenge and escalate this.

She has a complicated history of gingivitis that has cause other issues but she can't be in better hands. I would have let this go but a year and half later the terrible experience continues. The dentist I met with took images and then set up a remote consultation with me. She suggested that I needed $17,822 worth of work (6 crowns, 8 fillings, and at least 1 root canal) and that she should do all of this work, not an endodontist. When I expressed hesitancy, she told me that I needed to get started on the work right away, "or she would need to start pulling teeth." I sent the imaging and treatment plan to my oral surgeon, my orthodontist, and two DMV dentists. They all said that I didn't need the work recommended, and that getting it would do more harm to my oral health than good. I paid my bill, went to a new dentist, and moved on with my life. On March 15, 2022 I received a bill dated February 15, 2022 with no line items, for $500. I emailed the office, on the same thread we exchanged emails on in September 2020. They said that the reason the bill wasn't itemized "was due to the office sending you statements that received no response." I never received a bill by mail, email, or phone. They also said I was being billed because my dental carrier issued payment directly to me instead of to their dental office. My insurance has never paid me directly for anything, and I sent the office my dental EOB which show the negotiated rate and member responsibility. I work really hard, I pay my bills on time, and I try to take care of myself. I try not to write bad reviews for businesses because there is enough noise in the world. In this case, I'm so mad that I decided my experience was worth contributing to the noise.
