My mom had been receiving home health as well as caregiving from 1st meridian since end of Aug 2021…read moreuntil discharged yesterday. My mother had 4 brain surgeries in an 8 month period. Her last one was a success to remove tumor in jun 2021. The home health team of occupational therapist Alissa, Stacey, her physical therapist Alex, speech therapist Andrea and nursing staff Alyce, Hersey and Anita all were all just absolutely incredible with my mother. My mother went from bed bound to walking with a walker and doing more day to day activities for herself. This journey has been a miracle and we are excited to see more independence for my mother as she now will be going to an outpatient program. A big thank you too to our amazing caregiver Denise Banuelos who has been along my side since September. Mom would not have made these amazing strives without your loving heart and dedication to her recovery. Thank you for being you. You are one of a kind. Furthermore, their caretakers leave on emergency calls and abandon vulnerable clients for hours. In our case, the client was left stranded in a wheelchair without any immediate attempt by the company to send a replacement. Specifically, she was left entirely alone from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, completely unable to move around and with no food or water within reach. She sat stranded for five hours in a state of severe panic and distress until a replacement employee was finally sent to assist her. This is an incredibly callous and dangerous practice. We are actively looking for a different care provider.

Since my 37th week she kept trying to coerce me into induction saying my baby could be born stillbirth. I had a healthy pregnancy and my baby's heart and movements were also healthy. She claimed it was my fluid levels, but each time I got a second opinion, my levels were higher than what she would claim and there was no need for induction. I stood my ground and did my research each time. Dr. Binno and her nurse were also pushy with the cervical exams, which I still declined. Since I kept declining her inductions (as well as cervical exams), on my very last appointment she literally asked me, what I was doing there if I wasn't going to be induced. I respectfully answered that I was there so she could check that my vitals were healthy and that my baby's were too. Which thankfully, everything was perfectly healthy normal. She made my third trimester the most horrible, causing me extreme anxiety and would leave in tears each time I left the office. She tried to convince me my baby would be born stillborn if I didn't induce, even though NOTHING indicated that my pregnancy was unhealthy. Her change of attitude clearly indicated her intention to pressure me into induction. Thankfully, I followed my motherly instincts, made sure my baby was always moving, and I gave birth at 41+1 to a healthy baby. If you would like to have a caring and respectful treatment from your doctor during your pregnancy, then I recommend you look for another one.

It's amazing the feeling you get when you call their number and one of them answers. Or when you text and a human sends you a real response! You actually feel like a real individual patient again. Both Drs. Fam are knowledgeable and personable, it's refreshing to not have physicians act as though you are just another appointment to slog through and check off boxes. I had been in the habit of waiting and putting off seeing my previous GP before because of how dismissive they all were, so I am still getting used to the idea that if there's an issue with my meds feeling less effective or if I need a refill, I can text, email, or call and not only get a quick response but also not feel like I am an inconvenience. After seven years in San Diego, I finally found the "medical unicorn" of caring, competent, and personable family physicians. It's now been five months and I really cannot recommend San Diego Docs enough.
