**Warning: My Cat Was Traumatized Here**…read more This clinic was OK(not great but serviceable), until an overnight procedure left my cat completely traumatized and changed my view of this place forever. My cat was always gentle and calm. But after that overnight visit, something was clearly wrong. On our next appointment, he was shaking, growling, and so terrified that he urinated on me while sitting in my lap as soon as the vet entered the room. He refused to come out of his carrier, and when I tried to coax him out, he let out a screech I'd never heard before and lashed out in total panic. In all our years together, I had never seen him behave this way. I immediately asked what had happened during his stay. The response? Cold, vague, and defensive. The owner -- who is also the vet -- was incredibly callous, emotionally shut down, and even angry that I dared to ask. The staff followed suit, showing no empathy and offering no explanation. Instead of addressing my concern, they blamed my cat and told me they would refuse future treatment unless he "behaved better." I've since brought him to a different vet, and none of this fear-based behavior has occurred again. Whatever happened during that visit clearly left him traumatized -- and I will always regret bringing him here. ALWAYS!!! I honestly do not understand how anyone allows this team near their animals/family members. Their lack of compassion is alarming. Please pay close attention to how your pets react to a place -- they know when something is wrong. Mine tried to tell me, and I'll never ignore that again. You and your pet deserves better!!

We were taking her there ever since we got her in 2020 when she was 4 1/2 years old. We took Lexi there a lot of times, and every single time they were great with her. Dr. Virginia and Dr. Jarvis were always great with Lexi. The staff is very friendly and caring. The building is also very clean considering it's been open since 1922. If you ever decide to euthanize your pet, I highly recommend doing it here. After your pet is at peace, the staff gives you as much time as you need to grieve as you want. I brought my two senior cats in for bloodwork and an exam. One cat was then diagnosed with…read morehyperthyroidism and put on meds when the bloodwork showed an elevated thyroid level. I then received a call that the bloodwork "may have been mixed up" so bring my one cat back in for a free retest. This test indicated a low thyroid level and was significantly different from the first test with an elevated level. Instead of a vet looking at the 2 bloodtests and seeing they were so different and most likely not my cats bloodwork . I'm contacted by the vet techs and told to continue on the thyroid meds. One vet tech was not aware there was a blood test mix up and one told me when I asked why it seemed like the 2nd test was so different that it was not my cats bloodwork answered me by saying" That's a good question". Then I wonder was my other senior cat bloodtest mixed up as they were done at the same time? Meanwhile I spent $100 on thyroid meds and $520.38 on bloodwork and I still dont know if my cat has hyperthyroidism. because the new bloodwork does not show it. I was offered after complaining another free retest after taking my cats off the meds but honestly I have a very stressed old cat who has already been in for 3 blood tests and a vets office that I'm dealing with techs not the vet. I plan on going elsewhere where I can deal with a vet that can call me, and actually take the time to look at the bloodwork

What was an incredibly stressful time was made easier by the gentle guiding and kindness of Dr. Diaz. He was wonderful and it made the heartbreaking loss of our little buddy easier to take. Dr. Gwen was very accommodating, very patient, very considerate and extremely compassionate. Our whole family was there to see Kobi off on his final journey, and as sad as it inevitably was, it was also a good thing to see that he was no longer in pain, or confused about where he was. Kobi was blind and deaf, suffered with some level of dementia, and his rear legs would often not work right because of a spinal issue. He was always kind-of high strung, and anxious about going out - especially since he lost his vision last year. He will not be returning there, nor will any of our other animals. Unfortunately little Cheyenne will not have the chance to go anywhere since she passed away over the weekend - as a direct result of the gross negligence she received at your office just three days prior. I was already searching for another veterinary office before this happened for multiple reasons. Besides the fact that a member of your front office staff not only lacks compassion and empathy, but she's just flat out rude. Another big concern of mine is that 90% of the knowledge I was given regarding Max's chronic condition I had to research myself. Even if I reached out asking for guidance and/or had a specific question about medication I was dismissed. I have realized that, like a shady mechanic, you would rather bring in more money with repeat visits than to actually address concerns and provide solutions. But at least cars don't suffer like animals do. One of the few things I am grateful for is that this all happened over the weekend, when your office was closed. Because of that, Cheyenne spent her last moments at the Deerfield Animal Hospital with a staff who treated both her and us with compassion, care, concern and support. None of which we would have received at your facility. Since the weekend I have spent a lot of time reading reviews about your office and this type of treatment (or lack thereof) seems to be a common thing. Heartbreaking. I am a physician and I know ineptitude when I see it. There is a difference between missing a…read morediagnosis and complete incompetence. Our beloved 7 year old french bulldog, Parker, experienced the acute onset of excruciating pain, severe panting, and bilateral hind leg weakness. The emergency vet ordered bloodwork and several X-rays, then attempted to convince my distraught fiancée that Parker needed an expensive surgery to widen his nasal passages (which have never bothered him in 7 years). She sent Parker home with an Augmentin prescription that was prescribed with no indication. Not once did she mention the possibility Parker might have something else causing his symptoms. Did she even examine his back and legs? Did she find his tenderness to palpation of the spine? That night Parker's weakness progressed and his panting worsened. It was unbearable to see him like that. The next morning we took him to a second vet who looked at the X-rays, considered the symptoms, and immediately diagnosed him with IVDD - a very common diagnosis in frenchies. High dose steroids were prescribed along with a muscle relaxer but it was too late. We lost Parker 24 hours later. Any vet with even a modicum of skill should have considered this diagnosis when treating a dog of this breed presenting with these symptoms. This should have been considered even without having imaging to back it up. But she did have the X-ray - and it showed a very deformed vertebrae at the precise location Parker had exquisite tenderness to palpation on his back. The diagnosis was clear. A disc had likely ruptured, causing extreme pain (manifesting as panting at rest and reluctance to move), progressive weakness, ataxia, and eventually paraplegia. A physician is taught to read the entire X-ray. Parker's spine was obviously deformed. Combined with his symptoms and his physical exam the diagnosis was clear. The vet missed this. She may not be a medical doctor, but she is a doctor of veterinary medicine. She should have known better and she should have done better. I don't recommend you take your beloved pets to this vet.

Nora has also gone above and beyond in caring for our little guy. This month, for example, Nora took him in when I was going away even though he was only in the early stages of getting over an illness. If it was anyone but Nora, I would have cancelled the trip. Well, he had a relapse and she ended up having to nurse him back to health over the course of a week, keeping me informed. It was a relief knowing that Nora was caring for him as she would her own dogs. I highly recommend Nora for boarding and training!
