I will describe my story in great detail to explain with certainty how I got incredibly taken to the cleaners by this place. I am someone who is my 70's on fixed income. My dog was laying on his side next to the bed when my younger dog ran in to jump up on the bed and didn't see him. I saw her jump on his side as a springboard almost that got her up on the bed. He Wailed loudly and was crying. I said oh no, she hurt his SPINE. Because he now couldn't lift his head. Off to the Vet, my wife brought him as I was sure they would see the back issue and need to put him down, it is one thing too hard for me to bear. But, my wife called and said they need to do a list of things to him, I said... what things? I speak to the doctor and say what are you doing? She said well we are up to $1300 or so dollars so far because of the tests we need. I again said what 'tests'? Well we need 2 xrays, a blood sample, a urine test, liver kidney and all other organs she mentioned test. I repeated what had just happened and we just need an xray where clearly it was a SPINE issue and to do that first? (which she CLEARLY did not want to do$$$$).....but 'using' the emotions of my wife hearing her in the background desperately saying this is our dog, we have to do what they say to do...while overhearing the doc telling me no we can't do just xrays So now the estimate goes to 3,800 to 5K+ Xrays in. Doc says well we didn't see anything alarming in the xrays and the blood tests won't be back right away so we need to keep him overnight and give him fluids. So now I am thinking, geesh no concern on the xray so maybe it IS something else, yeah keep him overnight he is our baby. Next morning wife goes to visit... Doc says, he really isn't doing very well and you might want to put him down.... When my wife called me and told me, I said then what the hell happened? The doc tells my wife....get this........ IT"S THE SPINE. Yes this happened Am I super pissed about this....bet your ass I am!!! There is my tale of woe, take from it what you will, and leave the rest.

In the two months that they lived with us, we were never able to touch her. They pooped and peer all over our home (on our bed and various rugs) despite having three clean litter boxes. We consulted with foster people, our vet, the spca- tried EVERYTHING (feliway, cat attract, containing them in small areas)- whatever was suggested and could not stop the behavior. We called Animal Kind and left messages, trying to get there help. No one called us back. Once someone did actually answer the phone and "understood our concerns." We had to surrender them and I cried for a week. They are back on the website with their same initial and inaccurate description. It was a very traumatic experience for us and most certainly for those poor kitties. I pray someone takes them home. And I will never go to Animal Kind again.

Our poor kitty's gums were fire-truck red! She has since received treatment and is doing better! We also learned that it is not uncommon for sick cats to be adopted out of animal kind. I do not fault the main staff, as they have so many cats that they care for and so few people. I am however disappointed in whoever performed the health check. Any vet that could miss a dental infection like that is either under-informed or negligent as checking a cat's mouth is a very routine part of a check-up. So I do not understand how a vet would miss that without acting out of either ignorance or negligence. I sincerely hope they do better going forward

I think this late pickup thing, which I will describe below, is a scam that they do on purpose. They told me to pick up my cat at 3:15. I arrived at 3:18, and they charged me $33 for being two minutes late! Apparently "the technician had to stay late," yeah right! They even tried to say that I was supposed to pick her up at 3 and when I showed them the email THEY SENT ME that said 3:15, they still charged me the $33. And not only that, they were incredibly rude and disrespectful to me for no reason. This place is such a rip off. I wish I'd never come here. Oh, and then they made me wait in the (boiling hot) front hallway to get my cat for another 25 minutes! I finally had to ask somebody else at the front desk what was going on. But I'm sure the poor technician must have had to be paid even more for that time, right? And I won't even go into all of the other things that they wasted my time and money with. But I will warn you, if they say that you need a plastic carrier to get your cat spayed, you don't. Half of the people there had fabric ones and when I mentioned it to one of the workers they had no idea what I was talking about. So thanks also for making me buy another cat carrier that I didn't need! That said, the person that actually did the vet work on my cat was very kind and knowledgeable and obviously cares about the animals. Too bad this place is a nightmare otherwise.

Talk about a new world! For the first time, my cat wasn't feral in the foyer or with any of the vets and staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. The level of caring, compassion, knowledge, and experience by every one of the staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital is stellar. I realized what a sh*tshow Community Animal Hospital is in comparison! Customarily, my cat has to be sedated and contrary to Community Animal Hospital, it didn't take 1-2 days but 1-2 hours to recover. There's a lot more, especially paying 67% less on fees - the estimates were right on target unlike Community Animal Hospital which changes estimates on a whim. Most importantly, I was informed that my cat's lab work revealed a reversal of his kidney disease in the one year since he's been a patient at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. That's not only a miracle, but a testimony to them!

The reception staff has noticeably become less friendly, and I've been waiting nearly two weeks for an important return call--with no response. Unfortunately, I've decided to move to a different vet. While many of the vets are excellent, not all are, and the overall experience has left me very disappointed.

Because of my work schedule, I recognized that I wouldn't have the time I needed to do the extensive socialization that I wanted to do with my puppy. I started the search for a day board situation where the trainer would work with the puppy during the day, and I could augment that training at night and on my days off. After a thorough search, I decided to go with Anneliese and I've been working with her ever since. I've taken classes with her (group and private) and worked with her through day and extended board and training. As someone who trials my dog, I'm extremely picky about dog trainers. Since the industry isn't regulated, there are a lot of people out there claiming to be professional trainers with few qualifications. Anneliese is the real deal. One of the things I love about Anneliese is that she really wants to see you and your dog succeed whether its as a house pet with good manners, or in competition combined with qualifications and experience to make it happen. She's with you all the way giving both you and your dog the tools and confidence you need to be successful. I would highly encourage everyone to work with her.
