Dr. Oliver has terrible bedside manner. He was very cold when I brought my elderly cat in. Request not to have this veterinarian.

Pet's Reward Veterinary House Calls - Olivia

Pet's Reward Veterinary House Calls

Our cat got into a fight and wound up with a cut on the side of his nose. It turned into a very…read moreswollen abscess and within an afternoon one of his eyes was almost completely covered by the swelling. Our daughter had the car, so I called Dr. Barbara MacMullan and she came over after she was done working her day job, at a local Vet's office. For $50 she did a full exam, weighed our cat, clipped his nails, examined his ears, eyes and mouth and talked to us at length about the options. We didn't want to lance the abscess because it was so close to the eye, so she prescribed amoxicillin. Two days later our cat was on the mend. We didn't have to take him anywhere! No stress. And a $10 savings from going to the Vet. A Vet who makes house calls is great. A Vet who makes thorough house calls and follows up is amazing. And Dr. MacMullan definitely falls into the latter category. :)

Great doctors at Saugerties Animal Hospital! We primarily see Dr.Lang and have bringing our dog…read morethere since we got him at 8 weeks ! They are extremely friendly with our dog and are very gently when giving shots our dog does but usually even react! We also never have a problem getting an appointment we can always get in within 24 hours if we need too!

I have been taking my pets there for almost 40 years, and…read morenever had an issue until my husband had to take his cat for her yearly checkup and I was at work. She was 16 years old and slowing down, but we took good care of all our pets. She was only supposed to have a check-up and a vaccination, and they wound up doing over $300 worth of blood work. I called and asked why, and they said Well, because she's getting older and we thought it would be a good idea. We had three other pets at the time, one of which had diabetes and took two shots of insulin a day. But when I told her that I was not happy with the extra $300 charge for no reason whatsoever, she started to lecture me about how we needed to take care of our pets and we needed to understand that if we had pets, we had to spend money on their health issues. Believe me, we spent a LOT of money in that office, and this young little snot had the nerve, without knowing anything about our pet history, to get on her high horse and try to humiliate me. My cat just had emergency surgery that cost over $4500. I am taking her back to this vet for her aftercare. We'll see how it goes. I really like Dr. Lang, and I always liked Dr. Jackson, though Dr. Rothstein was the absolute best. However, they need to train their staff to treat people like human beings and not like ATM machines. Pat O.

I have owned over 30 animals so far, been to many vets before. The Doctors at the Village Animal…read moreClinic were the only ones in my lifetime that have been truthfully and brutally honest about my animals conditions. If they were unsure or could not find the underlying cause of a problem, they knew where to send you. They would not take you on a ride just for the sake of making more money. They truly care for the animals well being. They are a fully equipped veterinarian service for almost all animals. It seems everyone in our town thinks the world of them. They will not let your animals suffer. You can't find better than that.

Disappointed by the Lack of Compassion, Communication and Care…read more After losing our beloved Bailey, who was part of our family for 16 years, I am extremely disappointed in how this practice handled both his final days and our subsequent concerns. Just two days before Bailey passed away, he was diagnosed with kennel cough, and we purchased medications for that diagnosis that we were never even able to use. Bailey passed away just 48 hours later, and we subsequently learned there were much more significant underlying medical concerns. Given the circumstances, I submitted a letter requesting a partial adjustment to his final veterinary expenses, including consideration for the unused medications. I was not asking for the entire bill to be forgiven, but rather hoping the practice would acknowledge the situation and offer some gesture of goodwill. What I found particularly disappointing was that my letter went completely unacknowledged and unanswered for two months. It wasn't until I personally reached out again that I finally received a brief text stating they were unable to forgive any fees. I fully understand that veterinary medicine is a business and that services and medications have associated costs. However, I also believe accountability, compassion, communication and empathy should be fundamental to caring for animals and the families who love them. No amount of money will bring Bailey back, and this was never solely about the financial adjustment. It was about hoping a veterinary practice would demonstrate some understanding, acknowledge our concerns and treat a grieving family with basic courtesy. Having to chase down a response two months after losing our dog, only to receive a brief denial, added unnecessary disappointment to an already heartbreaking experience. Bailey deserved better in his final days, and our family deserved better communication afterward. Unfortunately, this experience has left a lasting impression, and I would have a difficult time recommending this practice to others.

Where else can you live the exotic life of a cat lady, and walk away responsibility-free?…read more You shouldn't, though. You should walk away with at least eight legs and four ears' worth of responsibility. You should walk away with that responsibility because this completely volunteer-run haven for all friends feline houses at least eighty cats, in spaces ranging from backyard bungalows, plexiglass condos and stacks of towels. And they need homes. Good homes. Your home. The rescue charges zero adoption fees, and bringing home a new buddy (or seven) includes one month pet health care, microchipping, FelV testing, spaying or neutering, and all vaccinations. Not in the market? Stop in anyway. Pet the squids, volunteer an hour or two, show some support. Just look where you step - there's likely a tail underfoot.

We adopted two kitties (Mocha and Latte) in April. We had them for two months. The website stated…read morethat Mocha "loves the attention of people." In the two months that they lived with us, we were never able to touch her. They pooped and peer all over our home (on our bed and various rugs) despite having three clean litter boxes. We consulted with foster people, our vet, the spca- tried EVERYTHING (feliway, cat attract, containing them in small areas)- whatever was suggested and could not stop the behavior. We called Animal Kind and left messages, trying to get there help. No one called us back. Once someone did actually answer the phone and "understood our concerns." We had to surrender them and I cried for a week. They are back on the website with their same initial and inaccurate description. It was a very traumatic experience for us and most certainly for those poor kitties. I pray someone takes them home. And I will never go to Animal Kind again.
