I decided I had to take her to a clinic because I didn't want her to suffer if that is what was happening. She had stopped barking or whining so there was no telling. The Johnston Animal Hospital was the closest option for me but I knew that on the drive there was a possibility my baby wouldn't make it. When I arrived with my mother and our dog the treatment we received was cold and it almost felt like they were looking at us as beggars. After we were taken into one of the check up rooms a nurse, and both Vets stepped inside. One of the them, the youngest, didn't say much, checked her heartbeat and touched her and without any empathy just looked at me and said "She's dead." That was all, no sorry for your loss, no trying to empathize with the client. I went on to ask about next steps, and cremation, because after pronouncing my dog dead they just stood there in silence not even giving me an option. They informed me that they could give me the names of places I could take her to. That they offered services but that they wouldn't be open Thursday or Friday. It gave me the feeling that they did not want to offer those services to me. When I stepped out to the check out office both doctors kept whispering to themselves and looking at us. When they left they didn't even say anything to us. While they didn't charge us anything their treatment was just horrible. And for the "services," if one can even call them that," I would not have paid a dime. I am a young Hispanic female and that day I hope that the treatment I received was not due to my appearance. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone and I hope that no one else has to have an experience like this, especially during a time filled with so much heartbreak.

I have a voice recording of Dr. Henderson giving out the stupidest instructions that made absolutely no sense. Dr. Henderson went as far is lying to me about the law changing in prescribing controlled substances. I contacted DEA and the South Carolina veterinarian board. As a back up I called the vet at North Augusta animal Hospital. Dr. Henderson lied. And yet they will not even answer my email and give me an explanation. Oh I shouldn't forget to tell you about the chiropractic adjustment they did on of my animals WITHOUT my knowledge. This place is an absolute joke! There's more organization in a three ring circus with Ronald McDonald as the ringmaster!

I was sent on a black and tan one since everyone in my fam has red ones and in my quest I came across Porth's. Their website is updated constantly and they have great pictures of their dogs! They also have several dogs that they post recurring articles about - one is even on a Hallmark card now! I bought my puppy without seeing her in person, but I trusted them and I'm so glad I did. 5 weeks later (when she was 8 weeks old) my parents and I headed down to SC to get my pup! Let me tell you, the Porth facility is BEAUTIFUL!!! The dog area is behind their house - it was totally clean and sanitary. I got to meet my puppy's mom and when I got there she was just finishing bathing my pooch. I felt like a proud mommy when she handed her to me!! She is the sweetest and most beautiful dog I've ever met! I am constantly receiving compliments on her demeanor and her good manners - she is truly a joy to have!! If you are looking for a good quality dachshund, definitely check out Porth Kennels. They do airshipping (I couldn't airship my pup since it was going to be too cold) but I suggest driving down there and checking out the place - you will definitely be impressed!!!!

Heard about the farm through Facebook. It's officially closed to the public because of the pandemic…read more( August 2020 ) but they are still accepting volunteers. The website is clear and complete about the animals at the farm. 300 + animals! Holy Cow. We decided to volunteer one morning from 8:30am - 11:30am. What an experience. We were assigned to dump old water, clean out the buckets and pools, and refill them all. For 200 pigs. Wow. Most of the pigs would walk up to you and were curious. Most of them you could pet. None of them were aggressive or scary. The farm is mainly sandy, you definitely need a good pair of rubber boots. Sometimes it's wet, sometimes there is poop. Put bug spray and sunscreen on. We watched the caretaker feed the pigs. That was a site in itself! Then we helped pick up poop in the cow/horse/donkey enclosure. I have to say, it was a great experience. Josh, the caretaker took the time to answer numerous question about all of the animals. Sign up online to give a little time. The could use your help!
