I will never go back. Tom cut my nails to short without me telling him how long or short I wanted them. He didn't use any drills or anything . Got them done as fast as he could. Tom told me to pick out a color. They have no books showing colors, which is what I'm use to in Florida and everywhere I have ever been in my life. I go to the colors and have to un screw the lids to see the colors. I just picked out a color and he painted 2 nails and it looked like s### so I told him I just want clear. Hard to screw up clear. The whole time he did my nails he kept telling me to stop thinking about my boyfriend and wld pat my hand. I tried this place for the first time because I'm new to the area. When I walked in there were 2 employees available. I was told to pick a color and have a seat. The one man finished his breakfast bar before he reluctantly sat down to take color off of 2 1/2 nails when someone else walked in. He sat her down and immediately began helping her. Ummm??? Did I miss something? He then tells me once he's finished filing her nails to go sit where she was just at. This is the part that iced my cake and why I walked out after 35 minutes. I was then moved to a guy who was going to put the acrylic on and paint them. I asked for crisp white coffin style. The guy who was doing my nails ended up making them square-not coffin as the lady before had already shaped them- and put powder all over my nails, not using the polish i had given him. the end result was very see-through, messy, and NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR. I had called to see if i could come back after work to have them fixed, to get what i originally had asked for, not what he decided to put on me, he said yes. when i arrived, he was rude to me and ignored me the whole time. moral of the story- DO NOT GO HERE. This was one of the worst nail salon experiences I've had in 20 years. Tom was the rudest man I've ever encountered in a nail salon, my gel manicure looks like it was done by a five year old, they are completely disorganized and treat their costumers terribly. Although it's been a while, this was not my first visit to Kim Nails; this time I was treating a friend to a mani pedi. We were greeted upon arrival, told them we each wanted a mani-pedi and wrote our names and desired services in the book. All of the stylists were occupied and as we were having a casual, no rush day, I asked nicely if we should come back. No, they assured us they could get us done quicly. We got in the pedi chairs quickly. Pedis took a while but turned out ok. Then we ended up waiting while they accepted other customers and began THEIR services. Apparently only one person can do manicures? The owner Amy looks at us after we're waiting and waiting and quietly debating going to another salon and says "you want manicure?" I was shocked. Yes. I said. We've been waiting. The two girls came and did the initial preparations because only Tom can do our gel color, apparently. So, my friend points out to me that we were there for 2.5 hours at this point. The people who work there were having lunch in the back while I was wait to get my color done. Ok. Maybe this is their only chance to eat. We tried to remain positive. My friend and I were pleasantly chatting and when it came to my turn to sit with Tom, again the rudest man I've ever encountered in a nail salon. I had shown him and the previous salon stylist, who did the initial portion of my mani, the pic of the simply colored French tip I was requesting. He looked at my friend and rudely and irritatedly demanded that she "ok pick out blue for your friend." We looked confused, I'm sure. Is he talking to us? Neither of us work here and would have no idea how to find the color I selected and showed you 2 hours ago. After he found the color I picked he looked at me and said with complete hostility, "read the sign, just breath, that sign is for you." ????!!??? I look and there are these "just breath" and "breath and wait" signs behind their work area. Excuse me? before you began speaking to me with such hostility, Tom, and telling me I need to breath as if my behavior had some how been pushy or rude when it wasn't, I didn't have a reason to measure my breaths. And if those signs are there, you must be irritating a lot of people on a regular basis. As he was working on my clear coat, he rudely asked me again what I wanted. When I tried to point the pic again he gave me a look of death and wouldn't let my hand go. Once he began working, he kept violently tossing my hands to switch them to rotate for the gel light. I had to make him put the second coat of color on what was already a terrible looking gel manicure. He did my friends gel after mine and was equally hostile to her. I was so ready to get out of there I left with a terrible looking gel manicure and thankful to be done. If my friend hadn't been with me I would have walked out after his initial rude and hostile behavior and I wouldn't have wasted my time waiting, either. They showed a complete lack of respect and descency toward us, their paying costumers, that day. I'm paying hard earned money for a basic service and hold New Castle salons to the same standards as I would in any bigger city. Don't throw away your time or money at this salon. My last visit was on Friday, and I will never go back. They filed my real nail all the way down to the nail bed on all 10 fingers. I love to give positive ratings, so I'm writing this reluctantly. My experience was so poor, however, I feel compelled to share the information. If negative stars were an option, this salon would be receiving them. Undoubtedly, my worst nail salon experience. It took forever: nearly 2 hrs for a standard pedicure! (By contrast, my mother's full manicure was "complete" in less than 20 minutes.) The work was entirely unacceptable; the staff, unfriendly. I was forced to stop the technician partway through the polish phase...it was alternately streaky and globby. He insisted a topcoat would rectify all, yet there was no way it could have. A 5-year-old could yield a better result. (I provided polish, less than a month old. My regular tech back home achieved fabulous results with that very same polish just 3 weeks prior.) When I requested a different technician to complete the polish, 1 person came over to do 2 nails; then, the manager came over to finish. The polish still looked terrible, but I could tell that was as good as it was going to get. My mother got a manicure and experienced a similar result. Both hers and mine were chipping within 2 days. My polish was a deep color and her nails were done in a natural pale pink, which is difficult to mess up. Yet, somehow, they did. We both left feeling quite disappointed with the experience. They have watched my girls grow have done all their nails and knows all their names. They don't do all the fancy stuff other nail places do but I love the atmosphere there. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This is the WORST nail salon I've ever been to. Tom is rude and when I told him my nails were "bumpy" he said "oh it's ok, it bc they short", to which I replied "no, I have short nails all the time and they never look like this". He was Rude from the moment I stepped in the door. Once I sat down for my nails to be done he asked me several times what shape I wanted and I said the same exact thing each time "square, rounded edges", I guess the 20 times I told him still didn't register bc I got some awkward shape that I can't define as square or round. He then gave me attitude once I said "I need them really short for work"... once he put the acrylic on, he went straight to painting my nails (which looks like it was done by a child), he didn't use anything to even the acrylic out, no file, no tools. First time in my entire life that someone has done this. I finished and washed my hands and politely said "these have bumps in them", he did not want to fix them. He said "I'll put extra top coat, you can't see the bumps, just feel them".. no, I can definitely see the bumps! I will NEVER be back to this salon and definitely let all my friends and family know to avoid this place. I went here to get my nails done and did not get what I anticipated. I picked out a dark blue and asked for square acrylic with this color. Tom told me to pick out an ombré so I figured to myself "oh okay navy blue with some sparkles awesome!" No! All he did was put the glitter on my nails did not paint them! I tensed up and he said about 5 times "stop thinking bout boys they don't help you here" he was rude and rough when he used the Dremel it actually hurt somewhat which it shouldn't. He told me to not pick at my fingers twice which I do for anxiety. I paid $55 for something that wasn't even what I had asked for! I'm disappointed in the fact when I asked for leaves on my nails for fall that all he put on was some stickers. Who puts stickers on nails!? I won't be coming back here for the fact that I did not get what I had told him I wanted. I had to trim and file my nails when I got home because the edges were quite sharp that's ridiculous. It's my granddaughters birthday and she wants her nails done for the first time. We waited for one and a half hour before our turn comes up. The older lady put the fake nails on without sanding them down to fit her nail and just keeps gluing them down because there too big and keep popping off, than she sent us the guy to finish.My granddaughter ask to have two nails painted and since there were so many people waiting he talked here out of it and just used a different color. Her nails were so thick and fake looking. The sign said 25 dollars, but he charges me 30 dollars and got so mad when I didn't tip him. He gave me a mean look turned walked away turned looked again. Very bad experience. I told them when I checked in I wanted toenails painted and gel nails. They said it'd be about half an hour . After waiting about 40 minutes someone was called that came after me so I spoke up. They reluctantly took me but when they were done with my toenails proceeded to say they didn't know I wanted my nails done and would have to wait for another 20 minutes. I will never be back . I work at a bank and one day a lady noticed my nails and asked where I got them done and I told her (another nail salon in town) and then she proceeded to show me her diseased broken down nail and told me to never go to Kim Nails because this is where she got this infection and it was on all of her nails from the acrylics. read more
