Was driving around one day and passed by this place and decided to try their food, the service was great and the owner is very nice. Food wise isn't top notice, but this place is more of a home made shop. Listen, I'm all about the small spots with the wack vibe but the great food. Unfortunately this place had the wack vibe with the super wack food and the loud hostess who failed to produce food that we could actually enjoy. She was yapping away the whole time to some fella who was trying get out of there and gave us the microwave special. Ms. Kim's food had some flavor but in no way matched the typical Korean greatness that I am used too. The menu was light, like slim picking light and the drinks were sad. This is like mom making a home cooked meal - just that mom was from Korea. She's funny, witty and very nice. Food was very good. I gotta be honest... Allentown, if this is what 4 stars is to you my stay is going to be awful. We blindly followed Yelp reviews as we often do. We were so happy to see a local Korean place with great reviews. Clearly, the local Yelpers don't get out for good Korean food often! We arrived at the restaurant to eat in. There were three or four tables inside all in various stages of disrepair. No big deal, right? Yelp never steers us wrong. We sat down and received the menu from a nice woman who was clearly surprised to have guests dining in. She pulled out a roll of paper towels and started lining the table with them, covering the stained table cloth. Incidentally, we picked the least stained table, but it still required a small forest in paper towel to cover them. We ordered the advertised crispy Korean dumplings and delicious shrimp pancakes. She asked if we would like the kimchi pancake in place of the shrimp pancakes, and we agreed. There was nothing crispy about those dumplings. They were about two days old and clearly microwaved. Yes, we heard her take them from the microwave. DING! It's really too bad, because they had good flavor, they were just rubbery as all get out. The dipping sauce was nice too. Don't know what it is, but it was nice! Kimchi pancake... Uh. Well. A pancake to me means something fresh off the griddle, with a nice crisp crust from the skillet. It was also microwaved. DING! And soggy. And awful. We didn't even try it. Bibimbap... The crown jewel of this dish is the screaming hot bowl, with crispy rice and an egg oozing richness all over it. However, there was clearly a jewel heist because none of that was present. The rice was gummy, the egg was over hard. There was nothing redeeming about this dish. Korean Chicken... actually, this wasn't bad. In fact, it was the only redeeming portion of the meal. There was no crisp to it. There was some spice. But the rice was still gummy. The best part about this restaurant is Kim. She is always so happy and she brightens my day. I love chatting with her when I come. You can tell she enjoys what she does and she is good at it. I love her food. I've tried various dishes, and they were all great. Her bibimbap has toppings that are in season or whatever she has in stock. One time I got mango on the side and it was delicious. Her dumplings are great. My favorite part about her restaurant is her kimchi. She makes my favorite kimchi, better than any I've had to far. Make sure you exit at the right area cause it's on 309 which is one way. The exterior is so cute, especially on a spring or summer day! I had the beef bibambap and my friend had the pork one. It comes with the bean sprout salad, kimchi, cucumber kimchi, rice, a bean paste, and then the meat; all in a bowl. AMAZING. if you can't handle spicy in the slightest, this place is not for you haha! It also came with fried vegetable dumplings as a starter. Very good and homemade.
