I…read morehad saved for it for months, and although I sew, since it was such a special gown when it arrived needing some minor alterations, I brought it in to a 'professional' to be tailored. They only needed to add two small darts to the bodice and shorten the straps...pretty much the easiest fixes you can do on a dress. And, to boot, the dress is made of COTTON, which is the easiest fabric to work on. When I got the dress back, I was devastated. It looked like they had handed it to someone who had never even seen a sewing machine before. There was visible, messy stitching every place they had made a repair...and worse, they were so aggressive with the needle that they TORE through the fabric where the strap attached to the dress. It didn't even last through the wedding I bought it for before tearing completely, and it was embarrassing to wear something that ended up looking so shabby. I was told the owner would call me to try and fix things...but no call ever came. And when I asked the woman at the front desk what had happened, she said they had hired new people and "no one wants to learn"...so they *had* taken a $300 ball gown and handed it to a complete novice, who then ruined it. I wouldn't use this place if you're at all attached to whatever it is you're trying to fix, and *especially* not for heirlooms. It very well might come back completely ruined, and they'll just look at you and shrug.

I won't risk trying a different place for alterations because because every time I've gone here, the work was wonderful, exactly what I asked for, and done in a timely manner. Somehow their tailor had a mixed message and completely deconstructed then reconstructed the dress in an odd way. The tag is now under the arm instead of the back and there is a seam running up the front. The dress no longer fits and is now worthless. It was brand new and still had the price tag. I took it back to show them and Mrs. Kim became combative insisting that the dress was like that when I brought it to them. I have photos before of the dress and it clearly was different. There is no question that it was mistakenly altered at their shop. She refused to listen and accused me of upsetting them. After 20 plus years of frequenting their shop, I'm shocked at her reaction. I've now also seen similar negative reviews. Extremely disappointing. I am now out $250 for the ruined dress and alterations which they refused to reimburse. I will never go there again.

I had some buttons resown on a very expensive brand new leather coat. She took her time looking at it. Told me how much it would cost. I decided to let her do it because A. I don't know any other seamstress that works with leather and B. I wanted my coat to still look new after the work was done. I trusted Yen because she is professional and experienced in her work. She guaranteed the work and that the buttons would not come off again. You have to realize this coat was brand new and the buttons came off within 4 times wearing it. I also had a shorter leather jacket with fur that I had the hardest time putting it on because of the fur getting stuck in the zipper. This jacket was also brand new and I had to have Yen fix it so that the fur wouldn't keep getting stuck in the zipper. Yen did a professional job of trimming the fur without destroying the look and feel off the fur. She did a beautiful job with it. I can now wear it again without having someone "help me put my jacket on every time I want to wear it." Yen has to charge what she charges because she is renting a place in the Mall. It's not cheap to have a place there. She also has to make money. No one is at work that doesn't want to get paid. After all her expenses at a mall, she still needs to put money in her pocket. She is there all alone and it's her business. No one should be working for free. You wouldn't want to either. She stands by her work, gives you a date and time to pick it up and guarantees her work. What more do you want?.. Great lady, great work, great experience here. Anything that I feel is worth getting "fixed" I would definitely go back to Yen. Thankyou Yen.

Popped in randomly on a Tuesday with 2 long dresses that needed hemmed (both were delicate…read morematerials, one chiffon and one silky with two layers) and side of chest area that had a gap taken in. Fitting was super fast, but thorough. Picked up same week on Friday and dresses were perfection. Used one of those powder pumps to get the length exactly as it should be...grazing the floor. Hems are beautifully done, everything looks like I bought it this way and happened to fit perfectly. Very pleased with results. After living in nyc for the last decade it starts to get into your head that the city does things better, like tailoring (there's just more options and opportunity to find excellent service), so after moving back to PA was nervous to find a tailor to do the work at the level I was accustomed to, but all expectations were met and exceeded. I sent him pics and measurements of my vintage footrest and he quoted me a fair price. My wife helped me pick out some decent material at Joann's Fabric (50% off) and I left the footrest and material with Joe and waited for the finished product. Several weeks later, my footrest was ready for pickup. It looks phenomenal now (see pics). As for clothing, I later took a bunch of dress shirts for alterations, as well as a suit jacket. Everything looks great! Judging by the number of customers who came and went each time I have gone there, Joe's skills are in demand. Joe's prices are fair and he always works hard to be sure his customers are satisfied.
