After eating at a different location in the Village for dinner, we headed to Kilwins for dessert. Good plan. This was my first visit, although I'm familiar with the Kilwin chain. Although a fairly large place, they didn't have indoor seating but they did have elevated outdoor seating along Ocean Blvd. I counted roughly 30 different tubs of ice cream and probably some sherbert. The flavor I selected was their Sea-Salt Chocolate Caramel. Good choice. The ice cream was quite chocolaty with pieces of chocolate caramel candy mixed in. My serving size for 1 scoop was also generous. The ice cream was delicious. The appearance of the place could have been more appealing, more put together. If I understood correctly they are going through a change of ownership, so a fresh look may be coming. read more

We visited their location in Franklin Tennessee and found it very cute. So we were so excited to find a place in Sarasota Florida. They offer a Wide selection of Ice Cream and other tasty treats...your sweet tooth will be pleased. My only disappointment was...in the parking lot they offer pay by plate options, however it says complimentary if shopping at the shopping center. Not knowing if I needed a receipt to validate I asked a young man at Kilwin's how parking worked...he looked at me with a straight face and said "I don't know." I did later find out from a young girl how it worked but very disappointing to hear I don't know about something in your parking lot. We ordered our ice cream sat a little table outside and just enjoyed a nice evening in Sarasota. If you have never been to Kilwin's you need to visit it is DELICIOUS!!!!! read more

Who doesn't love Kilwin's for ice cream and candies? If you haven't tried them yet, then you should put them on your list. They have many stores all over Florida and the US now. We ordered a few candies and peanut brittle last night. It smelled so good in their store. It's nicely decorated, too. Our server was friendly and helpful. Not a fan of this Kilwins location. We've tried it a few times, and each time walk away dissatisfied. When it first opened, the service was slow and young teens working were extremely rude. We also were surprised that the store seemed so dirty for a grand opening. Employees need training in the area of cleanliness and customer service. With so many other options for sweets in the area, we won't return again. Made in Rome has awesome gelato and Fudge Factory has the best selection of sweets and ice cream at much more affordable prices, and employees with a sense of humor and fun atmosphere! read more

I was a little sad that the Key had issues with their power going out and a transformer blew that caused our local businesses to have issues. FPL should really do repairs much quicker. We miss the peanut butter fudge and with these FPL issues we'll have to wait again. read more

I just took my family for ice cream including 3 kids, 2 of which have peanut and tree nut allergies. The staff went above and beyond in accommodating by washing hands, using gloves, using a clean scooper, and even better scooped from a brand new container of ice cream. Cross contamination in food service contributes to many food allergy reactions and I felt 100% safe in the precautions and steps they took. Ok. There are a LOT of ice cream shops on Siesta Key... Kilwins is more than great ice cream. Kilwin's is so much more. You can watch the toffee being made, the selection of chocolatier items: chocolate covered Oreos, nuts, truffles, marshmallows!, the home made confectioners in small batches... it's hometown goodness and from scratch recipes. The people are 5-star too--greeted with smiles. There's a nice outdoor area to sit and relax, too. Can't miss this new store on Siesta Key - fabulous. A++. Oh! The fudge!! The kids and all of us were so excited for Kilwins to open in siesta key! We finished dinner in a rush and ran over there and got there at 9:54pm. Much to our surprise and disappointment, they had closed and locked their doors at 9:54pm. We knocked on the door and pointed at our watches asking them to please open. An older gentleman, walked to over to the door and instead of opening the door he twisted the locked to confirm it was locked and walked away. The younger teens working at the counter smiled in relief that the doors were locked. It was very disappointing that they closed early. read more

We pointed out they were closing before 10 and just came to the door to ensure the doors were locked while thinking they were coming to the door to open. as a local, it's a huge bummer that this kilwin's does not have the kilwin's experience. since opening, this location has gotten worse and worse. I will no longer even try at this point. it's only a matter of time until this closes down. you cannot have a kilwins with empty chocolate displays and no fresh waffle cones being made. the employees are unmotivated and not helping this business at all. the kid that makes the chocolate is completely unprofessional in saying that he doesn't have time to make the chocolate. wont be going back and will take my business somewhere else. My boyfriend and I came down to Siesta Key from Tampa for a little staycation, we decided to stop at Kilwins for some ice cream and a caramel apple (which was fantastic!). Bailey was so helpful deciding on flavors, she was also so sweet and kind to everyone in line. It's so nice to see a young lady that knows how to carry a conversation all while efficiently taking care of all of the guests in the store.
