Down in York on another workie visit but due to other priorities I couldn't confirm trip until last minute and booked into the Kilma. Always fancied giving this one a try but thought that the location was different. Any how, arrived later than hoped as coming across country and had a wee bit of a hike to location. 10-15 minutes but hey I need the exercise. I decided to make use of the leisure facilities, small gym with basics - treadmill, bike, step machine, rower and very limited free weights - dumbells only but enough to do a turn. The pool and steam room were empty bar me and were great for slow swim and relaxing. All was clean enough and towels, etc on hand.
On both nights, I couldn't be bothered going into central York for dinner but there are restaurants, etc close by on Blossom Street. However, I'm glad I ate in so to speak. I couldn't fault the quality of the grub so would recommend the hotel restaurant. Down stairs in the cellar, it's snug and cosy with a bar if you wished to indulge and the olde worlde theme of the hotel continued - frequent BW visitors will know the theme of quirky character hotels the chain has.
All the staff were very, very friendly and I've booked back in here for my next York trip in a couple of weeks time. Great place to relax after a long day with terrific food and great staff, why wouldn't you. I didn't notice whether lifts were available as access to the restaurant would be restricted but otherwise, happy enough with the package. Thanks. read more
