Why why why didn't I pay attention to the Yelp reviews that said the books are always open and maybe that's a bad thing? I was desperate for a reasonably-priced trim, and this place is walking distance from my house. I called and was able to get in immediately with Kiko, who said he had a cancellation. The place is nice and Kiko is very friendly. There were no other stylists nor customers there. Several of Kiko's friends and family members were hanging around, however, and he answered numerous cell phone calls while cutting my hair. Kiko tried to talk me into getting extensions (my Yelp picture is old, my hair is now quite long) and highlights (mess with my rich natural color? hell no!). I showed him a picture of what I wanted (the way my hair had been cut 8 weeks earlier): low maintenance beachy waves. I said I don't like to spend much time on my hair, I just scrunch & go. He didn't listen to any of that and cut my hair so it looked like I had extensions... sort of like a bob with a mullet. He then texturized the ends, making it look like I had split ends. He blew dry it straight and then curled it. It's taken months for the bizarre cut to grow out. I will say one positive thing - Kiko has a line of hair products, and the serum he put in my hair made it very healthy and shiny. But I will not be going back. read more

Shay is a life saver!! Seriously, someone hook this straight brother up with his own show because he's awesome. First off, I booked my appointment the day before I came in through Life Booker because my hair dresser went on an unexpected month long trip to London. Thanks for the heads up! I was a bit worried to try someone new but ratings here and on the aforementioned site made me feel it was worth a shot. I have super long hair so I'm always really fussy about getting trims although I was open to highlight suggestions. Shay gave me really beautiful allover honey highlights on my brown hair and a kick ass cut! I hate to admit that I told my roommate, "I feel like a Kardashian!" Ha ha. I'm half Armo, don't hate. Best of all, a guy who I used to like (but had a falling out with) complimented my new steez the next day. Ah... looking good is always the best revenge. :D read more

It's very hard to find the right stylist that works for you and we've all had those accidents in trying to find the right one. The accidents that our closest friends love to ensure we never forget. I have been a regular at Kiko Hair Studio for about six years now after leaving Allen Edwards Salon. I genuinely can't find even one negative thing about the place or the people who run it. Having had my hair done now by multiple people over the years I've not once been unhappy with the after and if I was ever even questionable they wouldn't even hesitate to pour me some wine and keep trying until it was perfect. Finding the stylist for you is cake-walk. Though personally, I have been with Shay for the past 3+ years. He is the only one who I will let touch my hair anymore. Lol. Great ambiance, great attitudes, expert stylists, great products, accommodating... The only thing to get used to is the Hebrew being spoken by their die hard customers and the best part? Kiko has been doing my hair exclusively for 10 years, Even before he opened his own salon. Kiko and I became good friends through the years and I even went to his wedding. All of that person stuff aside, the reason I have been going to the same place for so long is simply because I am completely satisfied every time I go. The hair wash always comes with a very thorough scalp massage, which is heavenly and they offer you a cappuccino or other beverage, sometimes even a glass of wine. The staff is very friendly and Kiko is attentive and kind. I can't say enough good things about this place. You have to go in and experience it for yourself. enough said. read more

ehhh...why do people like this place? i mistakenly bought a Lifebooker coupon to use here and should have canceled as soon as I realized that their appointment book was completely open. If a hair salon can fit you in at anytime....you know they don't have many appointments for a reason. the guy that cut my hair did a fine job...in the since that he didn't fuck up too much. but, the whole experience was just bad. From the hair dresser walking away mid-cut to answer his cell phone (which had a justin timberlake ringtone), to his friends creepily socializing with him while working, and him constantly pulling my hair and throwing my head around...i would absolutely NEVER let any of my friends go here. plus the decor itself just screams cheap and dirty. They bend over backwards to make sure you have a good time while you're there and that you walk out with a smile on your face. They do more than just your ordinary hair services- they really consider your look and style and what works best for you ,and they help you to highlight your best features. They really take their time on the cut to make sure it is PERFECT, and their color and highlights are amazing! They also offer facials, threading, waxing, extensions.... everything you could want in one friendly, warm, and trendy location. Ok, I will give the positive feedback first: Very friendly, and kind. Now the not so good: gave very concise information on how I wanted my hair cut.....Even had a "visual" aid, IE: a photograph of how I wanted it cut....Not EVEN close. Just kept cutting, and then pulled out a razor and cut more....End result wasn't even remotely how I wanted it. And truthfully don't feel very confident or sexy. Totally took away my self-steem.....:-( Not how I want to spend the next 4-6 weeks until it grows out.... So do I recommend them? Not if you want anything specific and precise. If you want a Brazilian straightener- fine. read more

Kiko, my favorite hairdresser in the whole world! Easy to talk to and always super friendly. I can't let anyone else cut my hair since I've been coming to him. You don't need to over explain what you're looking for in a haircut, he just gets it right away. Really listens to you and doesn't try to do things his own way like most hairdressers do. I always get complimented on my haircuts. My angled bob is so well done, most people think it's a wig. Prices are reasonable, but if you're looking for a cheap crappy $10 haircut, Kiko Hair Studio is not the place for you. read more
