I received it yesterday, a little over 2 weeks after it was ordered. While everything worked out, I will still say Menards customer service could have been better, and shipping + handling was quite expensive... but who knows what each customer rep's work load is given the size of the company. Will not order by mail again.

No, I'm not paying them an extra fee to get items just because they are no long on display in the store. These are items we've bought there regularly for years... Menard's can GTH; we won't ever go back.

I order carpet there for a rent house about 10 years ago. The guy was upset with me for not…read moreremoving the baseboards and the carpet so he can do it. I told him I thought he did that and he said no I do that and he will be back tomorrow. Bottomline, it was a mess getting carpet and finishing the job (wanted to just cancel it and couldn't do that). I will never buy carpet from them again. Also, I ordered a stove and fridge there. The delivery guys took off the sticky tape and placed them on my trash bags I had laid out on the counter. I had to go out and get new trash bags because of their carelessness. Why even remove the tape and let me do it? Just place it where it goes and that is it. And don't get me started on how NOBODY ever called me back about new windows for the house. That was at least $10k sales for windows and they refuse to even call me about it. I waited 2 months and just went with Anderson. I guess my money and time is not valued at Lowes for Vincennes. They can do a lot better. It is ridiculous.

It's a southern illinois fixture and a great place to meet the locals and pick up that odd-sized bolt or to get advice on how to resolve a problem with a gate or a canning problem. They do everything from keys (including "digital chip" key clones) to vast amounts of nuts and bolts, SAE and metric, tools, supplies, home/industrial hardware. They are not Grainger or Lee's. They are not Lowes or Menards. Their prices are sometimes high, but they don't sell cheap gear. I wished they'd sell lumber and plants, but maybe it's better that they don't. They get five stars for being the best HARDWARE store in the area. You don't have to buy a huge blister pack to get just one or two of an item. Their clerks know what they have, and it's a good idea to ask them. They sometimes have better alternatives in mind, and their selection is vast for the size store they operate; they can save you a lot of time, unlike the big box stores, where there are no real specialists except the Big Item sales people.
