When I first took my daughter who was 1 then, it took her 2 weeks to settle and the staff remained gentle and patient, even gave me some pointers to break her into the daycare schedule. I LOVE LITTLE ORCHARD KAYSVILLE! Just by meeting the program director (Michelle Paez) you get a sense of the high standard Little Orchard PreSchool is held to. My 3.5 y/o has a speech delay, mild sensory sensitivity, and severe separation anxiety. Ms. Michelle reassured me that the staff are prepared to help kids with any transitioning difficulties they may experience. They are INCREDIBLY empathetic and patient with each student, my son actually hung out with Ms. Michelle his first 2 days of school and once he felt safe with her; she helped him transition into the classroom without her. The level of compassion and respect they give to our kids is outstanding. Other things I found note worthy... - CLEAN: The facility has a modern and updated interior. The layout is simple and very clean/organized. - STRUCTURED PROGRAM: The program is Montessori based and is very much routined and structured. They have a set daily schedule and implement early education skills (reading, writing, etc.) - GREAT COMMUNICATION: The program director is the bridge of communication between you/your kids and the teachers. This makes communicating thoughts and concerns consistent and easy! If I have a concern about my son, I can just call, text, or email Ms. Michelle and she does the rest. I decided to write this review bc last week I noticed a bruise on my son's face on a day he had school. I reached out to Ms. Michelle and asked if she could check in with his teachers and see if he had an accident or hurt himself. She called me and said that she had talked to all of staff that interacted with my son AND she personally reviewed footage from his school day to make sure there weren't any incidents where he could have been hurt. I just felt very impressed with the level of safety precautions and immediate communication to re-iterate that our children's safety is their top priority. - COMMUNITY: There are activities that families can participate in that make it fun easy to interact with the school community. - PROCARE APP: Little Orchard has a smartphone app where you can sign in/out your child from school, get personal updates from teachers, get pictures/summaries of activities the kids are doing in real time, update personal information, pay tuition, direct message the staff, etc. The app is user friendly, easy to navigate, and makes it easy to never miss an update! Nicole and Tiffany made the transition into preschool for both of my boys so easy. They felt safe and comfortable being away from me and that peace of mind is such an important thing for all of us. My boys truly loved them both! The date-nights they offer are such an awesome bonus as well. I'm not very trusting with a random babysitter so it's so nice having a place they can go, where they are already comfortable, I know they are safe and it's honestly a great deal as well. The school is aesthetically appealing, clean, high ceilings, lots of natural light/windows & subdued colors. They really work hard to make the environment soothing for the children. On any given day you will hear soothing music playing, smell essential oils being defused. The little ones are taught about grace, courtesy, social skills, conflict resolution, self help skills/autonomy, self soothing, etc. They really teach to the whole child. They don't put math/science/reading above any other life skills, which is huge. Many days they have "gratitude circle, meditation circle, or massage circle," where they get to practice these skills. The stimuli/materials available also make learning fun. They are made from natural materials so you don't need to worry about what is off gassing/leaching around your child. And, they are so visually appealing, little hands want to reach for them. These Montessori materials make abstract concepts become concrete & fun to master. The staff members know the children intimately, due to the small size of the school. From admin to assistants the adults are patient, enthusiastic & energetic with the children. We love the school. Mrs. Sam, my son's teacher is a rock star. She is equal parts strict and spunky. In her calm/quiet way she teaches children about boundaries, and yet she is so full of pizzazz. Mrs. Claudia has compassion & grace for days. Mrs. Lisa (front desk) always has a smile & wonderful recommendations/solutions. Ms. Maddie is by far the most compassionate, attuned & in touch principal I have ever met. Ms. Z will patiently and enthusiastically answer your little ones 391 questions! Ms. Isa will cut you grace when your little human makes a less than stellar choice, if she got a penny for every time she said, "That's okay, don't worry," she would be in the top 1%. We had a fantastic…read moreexperience at Family First but went into the next phase completely blindly, trusting the success stories of other families who went there along with our therapeutic consultant who knew Crossroads was the best in the business. I talked to 2 young men, now in college, about their experience at Crossroads and they both assured me it was the best thing that ever happened to them. We were scared, had no clue how it would play out but 9 months later - it was the best thing that ever happened to us as well. We are incredibly grateful for our amazing 9 month experience at Crossroads. From the very beginning, Sam went above and beyond. The awesome staff created a safe, structured and compassionate environment for the boys to grow and build confidence. The therapeutic support was fantastic. We're still working with his amazing therapist Noah post-treatment. Watching our son grow over time through our family sessions was truly remarkable. He came home with practical tools and coping strategies that he continues to use every day. Tyson, the substance use counselor, has been absolutely incredible. His ability to resonate and communicate is on another level. Our son works with him as well post-Crossroads and speaks so highly of him. The therapeutic team has been remarkable. The academic program was personalized and ensured he not only stayed on track but he graduated a year early. Cindy, the education coordinator, is beyond amazing. She coordinated weekly subject and ACT tutors. She has helped us so much post-Crossroads as he applied to several colleges and needed various things from her throughout the process. Cindy is a true gem!! Coultin, the house manager, was super organized and a great communicator. He made sure our son kept up with his eye doctor, allergist, orthodontist, etc - along with coordinating everything in between. We actually ended up liking the doctors more in Ogden than here in Dallas - truly impressive! Crossroads helps everyone individually find their passion. There's something for everyone. Our son skied 45 times, worked out daily, went wake boarding/surfing and enjoyed weekly guitar lessons from Max G. The kids traveled to St George, Pineridge, Yellowstone, Lake Powell and even Costa Rica! Outside of home visits he also came with our family on international trips to Columbia and Italy. Watching our son transform at Crossroads - both emotionally and personally has meant the world to us. We definitely had ups and downs throughout but that's the only way to grow. The program made him stronger, more self-aware and ready to take on the next chapter of his life with clarity and confidence. We can't recommend this school highly enough to any family seeking a therapeutic environment where kids are supported and set up to thrive. Everyone was amazing but a special shout out to Noah, Tyson, Cindy, Coultin, Noah R, Max G, Garrett K, Tyler B, Max J, Nick R, Jake, Drew, Sam, Eric, Derek and anyone else we're forgetting.
