The Kids Market was a fun and easy activity for kids. We arrived by uber, but noticed a good amount of street parking and public lots around the area. This is basically an indoor kids focused shopping, activities, arcade, food vendor venue. There's a good mix of different shops ranging from clothing, toys, magic store and some food vendors. There area few random ride-on things around the hallways for younger kids to ride. If you're in Vancouver with kids and want to spend some time doing something kid focused, check it out. Keep in mind this place isn't a huge mall, you could probably spend an hour there if you're not playing in the arcade or climbing areas. read more

We came to this Kids Market on Granville Island on our family vacation! I couldn't believe how many different kids' shops and different places were in the two story place! We all needed to use the restrooms. They were all clean and had on both floors. It was cool to see they had an arcade, a food place, and even a party room on the second floor. I liked the different designs they had all throughout the interiors of both floors. My favorite was the Jack & the Beanstalk display!!! Prices all over seem to be pretty fair. I also thought it was cool that they have a bumper cars room. There were also some shops on the outside, a restaurant, and a playground. It seems as if there was something for every child here! It's basically a mini-mall dedicated to products and entertainment options for children of all ages, from newborn to teenager. While not necessarily the best place to TAKE kids, if you HAVE kids, this place has two floors of stores with kids stuff. So if you want to buy something cool for a kid, this is your place. If you bring that kid here, be prepared to drop a ton of money...because they will want everything from every store. For instance, we went upstairs to use the bathroom and ended up buying a $65 sandal for my daughter which she will probably outgrow by the end of summer. I would never do that in real life, but vacation makes you do strange things that you regret when the credit card bill comes later. What other kinds of stuff can you buy here? Overpriced Magic stuff, books, stuffed animals, toys, shoes, kites, stamps, clothes, and more. You could get all your Christmas shopping done here in one trip! There's also a mini play area (think mini Chuck E Cheese) and a small arcade for the kids, as well as an outdoor lake with ducks. LOCATED: Granville Island near the entrance (the Public Market is toward the back). PARKING: 3hr free (once per day). They monitor this closely so move your car after 3hrs into a paid space if you need more time. Can be very dangerous. This is a location in which there are multiple stores for kids housed in one building. There is a magic shop complete with gags, various independant toy retailers, an arcade where you can win tickets for a little prize, an "adventure land" which is a play area for kids, a food court for kids, rides, etc. $8 to get into the Adventure Land. Located close to the Granville Island Public Market, the Kids' Market has shops with overpriced toys, clothes, and other cute things to make a child smile. We went into a few of the shops and in one store, I saw there had these small Peanuts figures for $6, cute! There were Lego sets and games too. My favourite was the Dino ride that a little one can sit in and enjoy a ride if you put coins into it. My 10 year-old heard about Kids Market and couldn't wait to go. The two-story space is super kid-friendly. There's even a small door for younger visitors to use. The establishment is clean and everyone was very friendly. We were able to browse without interruptions. The sales people helped us when we needed something and allowed us to look at their wares without any hassle. The selection is great but the store is geared towards younger children. My son bought some souvenirs at the sports shop and we saw some VR games on the second floor. The prices were good and there's an ATM upstairs. Our visit was brief because, again, it seems to cater more to smaller kids. I wish we had been here when my son was 5 or six. Still, we enjoyed our visit. read more

I guess that's expected since this is a major tourist stop. The merry go round costs $1 Canadian and if you go upstairs the fun center costs a hefty penny too. When you go on vacation with kids all you want to do is find ways to keep them busy but not spend a ridiculous amount of money. During our visit to Granville Island we decided to visit the Kids Market and upon walking in I realized this was a huge mistake. To my dismay the entire bottom floor is made up of kids toy and book stores. My youngest daughter loves to shop and will beg until you go insane for what she wants. Once my daughter is fixated on something there is almost nothing you can do to stop the adorable feats of begging which walk the line of annoying and genius. She could probably put together a two hour off-Broadway show if you incentivized her correctly with the right kinds of candy. I immediately put a $10 dollar limit each on what my three children would be allowed to purchase in hopes of minimizing the inevitable tears and whining. It's not that I don't want to buy them things, it's that I don't want my house filled with junk we paid too much for while on vacation. If you have kids you know exactly what I mean. It all somehow ends up under their beds, which I have named "the Toy Cemetery," forgotten with last year's "hot" Christmas toys. My two daughters bought really cute mood rings at one store along with stuffed animals which would one day end up in the toy cemetery. My son spent his money playing video games. I thought about buying him a magic kit at a magic shop on the second floor, but then remembered what happened to the magic kit I bought him for Christmas. It's under his bed. : | There is a business called The Adventure Zone upstairs which charges $10 a kid to put them in a weird mini play area. You might initially gawk at the price, but it was completely worth it because it kept them busy for a solid hour. This place is so fun and colorful. We used to live in Granville island when I was really young and my parents brought me here all the time. It's full of kids only shops like toys,clothing,shoes,magic shop and an arcade and a jungle gym they can go in and climb around in. They could make this place amazing if they simply just updated it. It's exactly the same from 30yrs ago. If they also had more shops that were diverse It would be cool. Maybe even like a craft and art or pottery shop you could bring your kid in for some art fun. We love the Kids Only Market on Granville Island, whether we're looking for something specific or just browsing for fun. It's rare to find a building where absolutely everything (two floors of it) is geared to kids, which is a big plus here. Toys, clothing, a magic shop, books, and more. Highlights for us (granny and 7-year-old granddaughter) are the VR Funtastic World virtual reality experiences (top floor) where, for $10 anyone can have a thrilling ride on a roller coaster, swim under the sea, or any number of exciting adventures. I don't know of any other place in Vancouver with such VR "trips", and the staff are friendly and patiently explain everything. My granddaughter's favourite thing to do at Granville Island. RIght across the aisle is the joke store, where the lovely proprietors love showing tricks to customers with obvious joy in what they do. this is another fun shop. The Adventure Playground may provide brief play fun, but it's very small and I have taken children there who are bored after a few minutes. Hardly worth $10 each, and it might be more now. Same for the many slot games. Please don't think your little darling is going to win an amazing prize, because it takes probably thousands of tickets/points to get anything other than a pencil or other cheap token. There is a wonderful outdoor playground at Granville Island with a big waterslide in hot weather plus a water play area, and it's free. So, needless to say, much more value for money. The toy shops on the main floor provide many options, and they do NOT all sell the same things, so they are all worth a look. Quality toys and friendly staff. All, that is, except for the Panda Shop, where an over-anxious lady will follow you around exclaiming "Don't touch! Don't touch! You buy! Or don't touch!" Unbelievable! I picked up a pendant to check the price as it was draped over a stand and the price tag was hidden. She rushed in and, sounding very stern and angry: "I told you don't touch!" It's not like it was gold and diamonds, it was cheap costume jewellery, an Eiffel Tower pendant, no panda to be seen. If you're such a nervous wreck that you have to follow customers around demanding that they not touch ANYTHING, you won't sell much. And most of it is cheap plastic stuff made in China, like fake sushi, little mirrors, small toys, etc. Yes, I wouldn't go touching everything in a crystal shop, but since when are you not allowed to touch anything in a cheap souvenir shop? She was so rude and unfriendly that we left, declaring never to return. In actual fact, we have, in the past, bought a number of things there (a panda fan, a panda poncho come to mind), but Mrs. Don't Touch was not present. And she's certainly lost us as future customers. She will probably "Don't touch!" herself out of business. I recommend she visit the other toy shops where "Please touch!" is the mantra. And service is with a smile. How else is a kid (or anyone) to know if she wants something if she's not allowed to touch it until she's paid for it? First bad experience ever at Granville Island Kids Only Market. We will forget about the Panda Shop and enjoy all the other wonderful shops and activities here. Great place for the kids to play and for mommies to get their shopping fix for overpriced toys. This is a local place for kids to have birthday parties and maybe a few hours of entertainment. There's a park and a water park section was not in operation due to the season but that didnt stop the kids from playing. My only concern was that near the waterslide, there were steep hills with cement landings. In addition, there was a large pipe that extended out dangerously with a risk of a serious fall. I could only imagine some daring kid trying to scoot down the pipe. The pipe I'm referring to even looks like the playground equipment. Don't be foolish and think you won't spend some money though, otherwise it may be a bit of a tease as children are surrounded by toys, puzzles, games, books, CDs, movies, education toys, craft kits, science kits, dolls, action figures, candy, an arcade, play area and kid friendly restaurants. You can also schedule birthday parties here or take your kid for a day of pampering at the salon...little creepy, but to each his own. The prices are a bit high and you may feel overloaded if you're the type who only honestly likes their own kids, but the Kids Market tries to make itself fun for adults too. I totally remember when this market was built. Kid heaven! Right here in Vancouver! The single best place to buy for (or shop with) kids. Well, "shop with" if you have a will of iron. Or better yet, just visit the market WITH kids and WITHOUT your wallet; if you tell kids up-front that nothing will be purchased and it's only a "looking at things" visit because there is no way to pay for anything, it can be a super-fun way to spend time with a kid or kids. You could stash a loonie or two in a pocket for a ride (think "rocking horse outside a grocery store," only way cooler): they have ride-in as well as ride-on, for one or multiple children, including an ice cream truck, a paddy wagon, Dino, a rocking horse (of course), a dog, an airplane, a racing car, and a mini carousel. Hint: once kids have had a paid ride and they know the coins are gone, they play contentedly on the rides even though they're not moving = free indoor playground! When you add in the actual climbing structure and slide upstairs in the free section of the Adventure Zone, it makes the Kids Market a super-fun and free rainy-day activity, which is great now that we are heading into 300 consecutive days of rain (aka "winter"). Oh yes, be forewarned that if you have little kids with you and you walk into this place you will loose your control over them very quickly. Located at the entrance of Granville Island, this place can be best described as a mini-mall for all things kids. The Kids Market houses a bunch of individual vendors which sell all sorts of things and services. There's a jungle gym, a small arcade area, a shop that sells nothing but kites and puppets, a magic store, a baby store, a little girl store....it goes on and on. They even have a bunch of coin operated machanical rides that my toddler son loved riding and was a nice treat from all the tourist adult sight seeing we were doing at Granville Island. One could easily loose track of time and kids in here. Definitely a feast for little eyes and the young at heart. Pros: -Variety of toys and whimsical things for kids of all ages -Mechanical coin rides, kids bathrooms/step stools for washing up -Small free little jungle gym upstairs within the paid jungle gym attraction. Mind you, the free portion is REALLY small but I'm with others, not sure paying the $8 is worth the bigger one, but who am I to say? -Right beside this duck pond so can feed/play with ducks afterwards, but watch out for droppings and the bold geese! Cons: -The top floor arcade/play ground area could be spruced up a bit ambiance and service wise. One bored looking teen at each counter, in a dingy and sparsley appointed arcade/playground was a little depressing to me. -You could easily spend a small fortune in here making little ones smile! Omg, this place is awesome! A total kids zone with toys and children's activities galore. The building was kind of divided up in to different areas with different merchandise for sale. I saw the standard type toys and games, a book store, an electronics section, costumes, you name it. The area that really caught my attention was the puppet spot. There were so many!!! Like, 10 huge racks of them. I have never seen such variety. People, animals, and muppet characters galore. The quality and styles were great. I am a preschool teacher so I love finding things for my classroom. I scored a pretty sweet alpaca and rabbit. Though they were kind of expensive ($38 & $39 each), I was able to choose exactly what I wanted, and I was able to make sure that the quality was on point. When you order online, you never know what you're gonna get. Highly highly recommend this place if you need a unique gift or are looking for something hard to find. read more

Granville Island is a wonderful place for families despite the lack of parking...my kids enjoy taking transit there and consider it an adventure. Kids Only is one of their absolute favorite stops and the candystore and Crystal Ark within the kids narket are mandatory stops for them! During the spring and summer the kids and I stop by at least once a month for a fun family outing! Be sure to really explore Granville Island as there are a lot of great little shops, small quiet grassy areas and beautiful views hidden throughout the large area. If you take my advice on transit and aren't in a rush to get home, take the aquabus and explore yaletown and downtown before hoping on the train/bus. This past weekend, I was in Granville Island. Now, I've been there before, but haven't really explored it. Since it was rainy and I wanted my boys to have fun, I took them to Kid's market. Tons of great stores! The balloon artists was very friendly AND proceeds were going to buy books in the Philippines. Now, there is a play structure there, where kids love to have fun. This is located on the second floor. I felt it was pricey, but $10 was good enough for my son to play til 6pm and HE LOVED IT. For me that was worth it. While he was playing, we sat at the food bar. I ordered a veggie burger. The lady there was nice, but the food... was okay. For the price, I would expect better, but it's a principle of convenience rather than experience. I love this place and glad it was open, on a Sunday, when it was raining. read more

Besides the public market this was the main reason for our visit to Granville Island. Upon arriving at the kids market you notice that they have a regular sized door for adults and a small sized door next to it for kids which I thought was cool and so did my kids. The market is two stories with various toy and books along with specialty sports and kite shops. Upstairs they have a small game area with games like skeeball where you can win tickets that can be redeemed for prizes. They also have a fully enclosed two story play area that you have to pay per child. read more
