We took our kids here when we first moved to the area --we haven't gone anywhere else, since. The service is second to none. We've never had to wait for more than a couple of minutes when an appointment was booked; they're just extremely efficient! In fact, on a Monday afternoon, we took our kids here for a follow-up appointment. When we arrived, to my surprise, I had the wrong day. Instead of simply turning us away, they fit us in and we were only waiting 5 minutes! Our kids have seen several of the doctors and nurses at this practice and we've always had a wonderful experience. They're all very good at what they do and are highly experienced. We have been going to kids first for over 13 years now and with all three boys. Dr Samarel is great, but honesty all of the doctors are wonderful here. Novant took over awhile back and i have noticed changes with staffing and managerial issues but the doctors remain steadfast and caring. We haven't had an issue getting a same day sick visit if we call in the morning, front staff seemed much improved since it was taken over to the point that I called back once because I forgot an excused absence note and they faxed it to the school for me! read more

We recently moved from Florida 2 months ago and took a shot in the dark on a pediatrician. So glad this is where we came! We had dr. Levine and she is absolutely amazing - probably one of the best dr's we have ever had. She spent so much time with us learning about our children. I really felt like she truly cares! Unfortunately I have to echo my fellow reviewers who have become extremely disappointed in Kids First Pediatrics since they sold out to Novant Health. We still like Dr. Samarel, who is our primary care physician for our three children. We have also had extensive experience with Dr. Modi and Dr. Wheeler, who have both been pleasant to work with. The new policies put in place by Novant are frustrating, to say the least. The turnover in the rest of the staff has not gone unnoticed either. We have had a less than positive experience dealing with many of them since the Novant switch. It has gotten to the point that if we are actively looking for another pediatrician office. read more

We were a patient of Dr Samarel when we lived in Charlotte. We moved two years ago and I am beyond overdue writing a review. We have NEVER been able to find a pediatrician like him since moving to Atlanta. For the first year if my kiddos life he picked up everything under the sun at Daycare. Kids first always scheduled us promptly and the min Dr. S walked in I was greeted with a hug and my little guy would get a big kiss. We were treated like family. Now we are at a 10+ physician large peds where we are just a number. We miss Dr S and all his nurses and staff dearly. read more

Dr. Samurel has been my two sons primary care physicians for six years and we couldn't have been happier. Novant Heath purchased this practice in September and now the administration is a train wreck. They have been rude to my family and most recently refused to see my son who was in pain at the time due to a scheduling issue they caused. When my wife confronted them requesting the boys Heath records they refused. Further elevating the matter resulted in police involvement. We will never return to any Novant facility as a result. Doctors are good. Administration and office manager are horrible. read more

Since Novant took over Kids First it's a nightmare. Billing questions you are sent to billing, billing sends you to the office manager, office manager can't answer, sends you to the grievance department. The doctors don't call you back when you have a question about why and how they coded something the way they did. It's an endless circle. Love Dr. Samarel and Dr. Modi, but we are leaving. They are told by Novant to bill by the item they discuss during a visit. Such a billing nightmare. Save yourself the headache, if you have a kid that needs to go in more then just for regular check ups I would look somewhere else. read more

Both my kiddos went for years, Novant took over and the friendly faces disappeared. Policy changes, miss coded appointments, calls not being returned. I"m also pretty sure that Novant doesn't put much thought into who they hire, Bottom of the barrel for sure! read more

The reason why I'm disappointed about this practice is because of the unprofessional front desk - I'm new to this area and u was trying to find a good pediatrician for my son but I kept calling and calling for days for about a week and the front desk never answered the calls and when I showed up at the office they started blaming the phone system and gave me an attitude...so they are the only reason why I did not chose this practice...what a shame... read more

The doctors are amazing but the front desk sucks. Anytime you call it goes to voicemail and they never call you back. I had to call for more than a week everyday to make a well visit. We have gone to this pediatric group for over five years. They were fine...but the last straw was when they absolutely refused to prescribe an antibiotic for my child, who had a high fever for five days, and I knew she had her annual sinus infection. The fever continued into the weekend, and I called their after hours nurse twice, and the doctors still refused to prescribe what my child needed, told us to go to urgent care instead--even though we had just been in their office the day prior. Ended up getting the antibiotic right away from the kind urgent care doctor and finally, the next morning, my child was on the mend. I know some doctors can over-prescribe antibios--but we are absolutely parents who only take their children in when necessary--they should know us after so many years. They never even called after the weekend to follow up and see how my child was doing?? Why go to this practice when they won't treat your child, listen to experienced mother's knowledge and instincts, and just tell you to go to urgent care to spend more money and wait in line? So...I am switching to a new practice. read more

Never in my 18yrs of raising children have I ever had to go through so many hoops to set an appointment. I called yesterday and was advised by the office that I needed to fill out the paperwork before an appointment could be set and that she would send me an email to email the paperwork back. I never received the email so I downloaded the paperwork off of their website and took it into the office roughly around 4:47pm only to be told they would give me a call the next day to schedule an appointment. I was adamant about setting the appointment at that time because I didn't want to have to play phone tag only to make an appointment. The appointment was set at that time only to be called today to say we need a physical address to put in the computer as a P.O. box address will not do...not true because the P.O. box is the address listed for my insurance..then I give them a physical address and they say oh we can't use that because it's a business address. Oh and by the way you listed "Human" as your race and we need to know your race but mind you they have a decline box on the application...oh and we have a waiting list so the appointment you were given for Aug 28th was done in error....We can put you on a waiting list and get to you sometime in September. By this point I just feel like this is a bunch of b.s. and told them to have the doctor call me and was told oh she won't speak to you. So I advise that I will just stop by the office and speak with her and hung up. Next thing I know the office manager is calling me not to try to rectify the situation but to basically to tell me she like to get her employees out by 5pm; and to question me about me stating I was going to come to the office to speak directly with the doctor and so forth and she don't think that is the office for my child. read more
