Despite the open lines of communication, teachers and Ms. Kim always make the effort to talk to parents if issues arise or just to say some perceptive comments about our kids. They say it takes a village to raise a child and I truly see this childcare center as a community! The Newark city department workers are involved with events ( i.e. fourth of July parade, Santa visit, etc) and parents volunteer their gifts if they feel inclined. My son is in kindergarten in Chadbourne and he has been able to attend their program daily from 1pm-5pm after his online zoom sessions. For me, it was most important to have my active son interact with other children his age since he wasn't getting any in-person 1:1 time with his teacher or class mates. The administrator, Miss Joni, has been wonderful and has been able to tailor learning to my son's interests in a fun and challenging way so he's not only able to complete his Kindergarten assignments, but also learning to build bots with Legos, wood carving, Infinity Math, rock wall climbing, and even Mandarin Chinese, just to name a few of the multitude of activities! Class size has been very manageable with 2 students in kindergarten, 2 other pre-Kinder children (in a separate class) and they have been really wonderful adjusting to COVID standards.
