My nephew destroyed a dining chair while leaning back and I considered throwing it away as I did with previous chairs from this set. This set was in our family for over 60 years and I have always known the chairs to wobble and come apart. My mom had repaired, refinished and reupholstered them many times. Since I only have 3 of the 6 chairs remaining, I ambivalently decided to take them to Kido's to be restored, for sentimental reasons, and because it is solid wood furniture. After having him evaluate whether it was worthwhile repairing and restoring that and the other 2 chairs, he gave me the estimate of $200 per chair. It was not an easy decision but I am so glad I decided to have him do the work. The chairs are now so solid and sound. My sister said that they look even better and are more functionally sound than when they were new. His lacquer finish is immaculate. I still need to have the seats reupholstered and he recommended Ohana. So fortunate to have someone so skilled and detail oriented to restore our furniture on island. read more
