We've seen so many changes in hopes of improvement, but it has been run down to the ground. The previous director, Denise, was great and was doing her best for the parents that knew what this school was capable of. However, it turned for the worse! The week the previous director, Denise, left they turned the entrance into a stale uninviting area. They took out the kid's friendly decorations and play area. My daughter was in the PreK room when we finally pulled her. There is no curriculum since her last teacher left... weeks ago. Watching the cameras, they don't follow ratio, spacing of the cots at naptime. There is NO curriculum now to prepare these little ones for kindergarten. Watching cameras, from drop of 8am to 11am the teacher never sad with the kids, no circle time, no learning activities. 3 hours of playing and running in the room. They have not brought home any activity worksheets in weeks. Coloring is not learning! This is bare minimum babysitting, who can't even meet ratio. I can't imagine the infant and toddlers' rooms if this what I was am seeing in the PreK room. The ratio requirements and room capacity are for our children's safety. I addressed my concerns with the new director, Ryann, and got no reaction other than they are addressing the staffing issue with a job fair. That's the best they can do, I'm sure they'll find great candidates for taking care of and educating our kids. The little staff they do have look unhappy and obviously burnt out and overworked. After addressing my concerns, a few days later I was talking to another parent about inviting them to our child's birthday party. I got a call from Ryann within 5 minutes of leaving, stating we are not to "linger" around and only pickup and drop off. This is joke, I am not allowed to talk to other parents. The other parents were not called about lingering for talking to me. They are worried about their reviews and numbers because enrollment and staffing are at an all-time low. They are desperate for revenue, asking parents for reviews because they know this one was coming. Overall, 3.5 stars on google before this review. This is beyond sad for any child to be in this type of environment with no care regarding their education. Ryann assured me they follow ratio of 1:20 in my daughter's old class or 1:25 if the majority age ratio is over age 5. Most elementary school aged kids don't have 1:25. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with this place! I wish had pulled my child sooner.

My family and I were very disappointed with our experience when trying to schedule a school tour…read more As Deaf parents, we simply asked The First Academy to provide an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter so we could fully understand the information being shared during the tour. Despite multiple emails and opportunities to reconsider, the school declined to provide an interpreter. Instead, we were told to rely on written communication, tablets, and "extra time," which are not effective or equitable substitutes for real-time ASL access. This does not provide meaningful communication for Deaf adults, especially during an important process like evaluating a potential school for our children. We were also told we could "bring our own interpreter," which shifts the burden of accessibility onto families rather than meeting basic inclusion standards. We left the interaction feeling that the school was not prepared to support the communication needs of Deaf parents. Accessibility should not be optional, and it should not depend on families paying out-of-pocket to participate. I hope the school takes this feedback seriously and re-evaluates its approach to serving Deaf and hard-of-hearing families in the future.
